A speedy Decision on a Third Runway for the South East of England`A swift and decisive decision is important because of the Dire Economic Consequences we were all warned about should the United Kingdom vote for Brexit. This decision is long overdue. The Airports Commission, set up to look into airport capacity in south-east England, published its findings in favour of Heathrow on 1 July 2015. Since then, the final decision has been delayed by David Cameron's government. David Cameron's Government has shown a lack of leadership by failing to make a decision on how to expand airport capacity — a failure which could hurt the economy, Britain’s biggest business lobby group, the CBI, has said. Dithering and delay must be avoided at all costs by ministers who are urged to ‘act swiftly’ and ‘grasp the nettle’ in building a new runway at whichever location the Government’s airports ‘tsar’ Sir Howard Davies recommends. But failure to act quickly could cost the UK economy between 0.2 and 1 per cent of the nation’s wealth or GDP by 2050 - or between £42billion and £214billion over the next 60 years, depending on which site is chosen for expansion, says the CBI, report. The economic consequences of the Government not acting upon the Airports Commission's recommendations include significant lost productivity and inward investment. Gatwick, the West Sussex airport, recently announced a £200m programme of investment until 2021. Projects include expansion of both the north and south terminal departure lounges and immigration halls, upgrading shopping facilities, and extra aircraft parking stands. The airport said it would bring total investment over the next five years to £1.2bn. Heathrow said there were significantly greater benefits to its proposal to build a third runway. "The Airports Commission disagree with Sadiq Khan and Gatwick," said a spokesman. "Brexit makes the Commission's conclusion that, with Heathrow expansion, 'the benefits are significantly greater, for business passengers, freight operators and the broader economy', even more persuasive (This is Money) Failure to act quickly could cost the UK economy between 0.2 and 1 per cent of the nation’s wealth or GDP by 2050 - or between £42billion and £214billion over the next 60 years, depending on which site is chosen for expansion a recent report states. The CBI's President, Paul Drechsler, who was previously chief executive of construction firm Wates Group, said: “More than ever before, it is absolutely critical that the government sends a signal, loud and clear, that the UK is open for trade with markets across the globe. “Building a new runway in the southeast is a key decision for the long-term future of our economy and country, and will demonstrate to, and reassure, Britain’s workers, makers, exporters and investors that the UK is open for business. Last year the CBI showed that delays to getting a decision on airport expansion by 2030 could see the UK lose out on over £30 billion in lost trade with the BRIC economies alone. “Our new analysis shows that our European rivals with spare capacity will be gaining at the UK’s expense, cashing in on their own thriving connectivity, if we fail to get on and build a new runway. By 2030, better capacity will see German trade with the BRIC economies alone grow by an additional £15 billion, and French trade grow by £7.5 billion – trade that could and should be coming here. “We could still avoid this scenario, if the new prime minister makes a decision with a clear timetable for action immediately after entering Downing Street, so that construction can begin by 2020.” . "Brexit makes the Commission's conclusion that, with Heathrow expansion, 'the benefits are significantly greater, for business passengers, freight operators and the broader economy', even more persuasive I THEREFORE PETITION, THE RIGHT HONOURABLE, THERESA MAY, THE PRIME MINISTER AND HER GOVERNMENT to make a SPEEDY decision on the construction of a Third Runway for the South East of England, Heathrow or Gatwick, before the end of this Parliamentary Session for the benefit of the Ordinary People of this United Kingdom and her Economy as recommended by the Expert Opinions cited above.6 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Marjory Hay

Keep Salisbury NHS Walk-In Centre open 84 hrs a weekThis service serves the public very well and is well used. I believe that this is a crucial service, particularly because of the difficulty accessing health care both in normal working hours and OOH services.2,625 of 3,000 SignaturesCreated by Jen Nelson

Stop the destruction of Barnet Library Service and the sacking of Barnet Library workers‘First I am want to add my apologies to the event and the huge admiration for Barnet UNISON.I want to send a message of support to John Burgess & the Save Barnet Libraries campaign for their tireless & inspirational community campaign to protect their local Library service. I would encourage everyone to join their Kids4Libraries this Saturday 12 September. Barnet Council are determined to outsource all of their services I salute Barnet UNISON & the community campaign for their ongoing fight to defend public services.’ (Jeremy Corbyn September 2015, http://www.barnetunison.me.uk/wp/page/2/?s=Libraries ) Barnet Council has begun statutory consultation with all of the Library workers. The proposals seek to: 1. Sack 50% of the workforce. 2. Restrict the number of hours the Libraries are open with staff. 3. Limit access to Libraries for children under 16 and the disabled. 4. Replace paid workers with volunteers. 5. Prepare the remaining service for outsourcing. 6. Shrink the size of many of the Libraries. This is an attempt to disguise the destruction of a Library Service which recently achieved a 93% customer satisfaction rating. This proposal is yet another example of how Austerity policies are decimating public services. Libraries are a valuable community asset and need defending. Library services across the country are facing extinction, now is the time to join the fight for Libraries. Incredibly, 11 July 2016 Barnet Council announced they would be increasing the size of their Press Team at a cost of £0.5 million a year, whilst cutting Library frontline services. Every signature you secure for this petition does help the service and the morale of our members facing redundancy. Save Hinchingbrooke HospitalThe future of Hinchingbrooke Hospital is under threat and the proposed merger with Peterborough and Stamford Foundation NHS Trust may see the closure of Accident & Emergency, Maternity and Haematology and also the downgrading of the hospital. We will fight for the retainment of Hinchingbrooke Hospital. Hinchingbrooke Hospital currently provides medical and emergency care for 160,000 residents in Huntingdon and the surrounding rural area. Further housing stock has been planned and approved for development in the near future, which will increase the need to have a District Hospital in Huntingdon. Peterborough and Addenbrookes, the two nearest alternative hospitals are 40 minutes journey time at best, along very busy roads assuming you have your own transport. Not ideal if you are very unwell. We will fight to save Hinchingbrooke. https://s.bsd.net/38degrees/main/page/-/CBY/Hands_Off_Hinchingbrooke_Logo_large.jpg3,705 of 4,000 SignaturesCreated by Daniel Laycock

SAVE "POLZEATH PANCAKE SHACK" (mr surfys)We are a pancake shack, we are based on a cliff where there is no shop, food outlet of facilities for 1 mile. We provide a service for people local and tourists, serving drinks and hot food to take away, we are sensitive about the enviroment where we are, and we operate from an ECO cabin, which runs on wind power, we take our rubbish home and we use recyclables. We are only open during weekends and summer months, we close the shack and move it by the end of September. We have permission from the land owner at Atlantic terrace to say we can operate from the parking space, and also the highways agency, have no objections to us being there. We have been there at New Polzeath for 6 years now, and since the road closure with the Atlantic house hotel, we have considerably lost business. But we are still open for the public, as we are providing a service, and also we only use local suppliers.1,070 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Seahem Sodhi

Climate change is still THE most important issueClimate change is NOT an old drab or dull issue. Is is THE single most important issue facing humanity and our species. It will define the 21st century in the way that World War defined the 20th century. It must not be ignored by the new Prime Minister. The climate is changing rapidly. This is causing rapid destruction of biodiversity and is increasingly leading to extreme weather, shrinkage of the polar ice-caps, melting of glaciers, rising sea-levels and a catastrophic change to global weather patterns. This is leading to human conflict over space, food and resources, and is the driving force behind the migrant crisis the world is experiencing. We must not ignore this issue because it will engulf us!139 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Christopher Little

MAY'S CAMPAIGN. Mum's Against Your Suicide.MAY'S CAMPAIGN is a campaign to try and get more help for people with Mental Health issues who need to be able to talk to someone when they are having a bad time or are in an unstable state of mind. At the moment people with mental health issues are advised to go to their nearest A&E department who are often over stretched and don't always have the staff to spend time talking to people with mental health issues. Sometimes people with mental health issues are put in touch with a Crisis team, but again they are voices on the end of a telephone telling them to go to A&E, or 20 minutes per day home visit. If there were walk-in centers, that these people could go to, it would relieve the pressures on A&E departments and quite often people with mental health issues just need to be able to talk to someone face to face, who is willing to listen to them and make them feel that what they are going through is important and that they, as people, are important to their families and to society in general. Today a young girl named MAY had her funeral, she was 21 and had suffered with mental illness for a number of years, but because she couldn't get the help she desperately needed, she took her own life. There were a lot of young people at the funeral who had known May as a friend, and who had also received support on-line from all across the country. People loved May for what she did to help them, she tried to help many people with their problems and she also worked as a volunteer at a center for people with suicidal tendencies, where they could go for support and even be able to stay for a few nights, so they could feel safe. Yet when May needed this help there wasn't anywhere for her to go. My daughter was one of the people at the funeral who has also suffered with mental health issues and has often been through very difficult times, where she has needed support, but has not been able to get to talk to anyone without being told to just go to A&E where she has had to sit for hours while waiting to be seen and in the meantime her anxieties have reached suicidal levels. No mother, father, family member or friend should have to bury their sons or daughters, because the support that they need isn't in place for them to use. There are walk in centers for the homeless, for food banks, people who are unable to handle the amount of alcohol they drink and other problems, but there isn't enough being done for mental health sufferers. It could be organized and run by volunteers in empty shops, mobile buses or safe houses. It doesn't have to be big new buildings, just somewhere people can feel safe and listened to. So please sign this petition and share it with your friends, family and everyone who means something to you, also your loved ones, as we all know someone who has had mental health issues from depression to suicide, and we all need to show them our support by getting something done to help them where they can go and feel safe instead of suicidal. Thankyou for taking the time to read this, now please sign it, we need as many signatures as there are people who love someone out there.455 of 500 SignaturesCreated by Pat Jarvis

Push NHS Highland to issue a timescale for Autism Diagnosis for childrenA timescale is needed as we are all frustrated at the lack of leadership and planning in NHS Highland for dealing with Autism Diagnosis in children. There is a damaging and detrimental effect of the current diagnosis system, on the child, parents and siblings. Early prevention has been proven to be key and can have a huge positive impact on the child. In my own son's case it took 10 years for him to be diagnosed, and up to 7-8 years in other cases. I have even known of some cases where it has been after the child has passed 16 for the diagnosis! This is after them struggling through their school years and their education suffering.276 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Sylvia Mackenzie

First Cymru: Reduce the bus fares!I was boarding a bus the other day - i don't take buses often, but with both my parents being busy, it was the only way that I could get into town. I boarded the bus, asked for an under-16 ticket, only to be asked for £1.90. I remember a time when adult tickets were priced at this, and when under-16 tickets were £1.30, which was fair enough. First Cymru have seemed to 'bump up' the fares every couple of months by 10p or so, and it has gotten to the point where I would rather walk into town. Under-16s can't get jobs, so putting the bus fares up every couple of months seems a bit unfair on them. Especially since they are probably going into town to meet with friends, and have a limited amount of money, much like I normally do. This petition could also work with adult fares, I believe that they are now £2.40, as I saw someone buying a ticket the other day. To make this sound worse, a bus in London, which is apparently the most expensive city, only costs £1.50 for a single ticket to go anywhere. I believe that the Swansea fare depends on how many stops you go, but for most people living outside of town, it tends to go to the maximum chargeable fare. First are simply taking advantage of people now that bus companies are no longer ruled by the council.227 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Curtis Stephens
