Imagine agreeing to perform 1000 operations for a fixed price per procedure. Imagine you do 1200 instead. The government want to pay less for the 200 extra above the 1000 agreed. If that were to continue, it would become unsustainable meaning some patients who need care would need to travel great distances, or worse still, not get it at all. It creates a financial incentive to reduce or curtail the amount of care a hospital provides - and that can't be good for local patients. While this is important, there is a darker outcome. The unmet care need this creates would lower the barriers to entering the market for independent 'for-profit' care providers. And if a profit is being made, there are patients not receiving treatment. We must not allow this to happen as it will fragment the care provided by the NHS and reduce the financial efficiency of delivering care in the UK.

The importance is that it would rule out conflict of interest by MPs and MEPs and make sure that all MPs and MEPs are fully serving the greater good of the UK Population. On Thursday 11th December, Brighton and Hove Labour Party proposed an amendment to the Council Tax Reduction scheme. The amendment was passed with the support of all Labour and most of the Conservative councillors. As a result 16,000 of the City’s poorest households will have their Council Tax increased by a massive 76%! In a recent Council consultation, the majority of respondents clearly rejected all proposals to cut this help for people on the lowest incomes. We, the undersigned, condemn this move to single out the poorest residents and ask Labour and Conservative Councillors to overturn this decision immediately.

Cobbett Road Library has been the heart of Bitterne Park and surrounding areas community for 75 years. It is a thriving library with 20+ community groups from Tai Chi to Toddler groups, Business Forum to Art Groups, Book groups to Coffee mornings. There are also regular evening talks and annual events such as the Christmas Fayre and Autumn Fayre. It is a haven for people of all ages, and we have many vulnerable people coming in to a friendly, safe space, with fantastic staff who know many people by name. Libraries such as Cobbett are moving with the times and offering more than just books, but also offering old fashioned face-to-face contact and community spirit which is so important for so many. We need to safeguard such treasures for future generations, as generations before us have.

I have had to support my son, who is now 17, for the last 7 years, and I have received minimal support from my ex-husband who is the director of his own business. I have received £5 a week only for the last year, following much debate with the CMS. Before that, I was receiving nothing! Following our divorce, I was forced to sell the marital home, and move into rented accommodation - and renting is not cheap to say the least. On top of this, I have to feed and clothe him, not forgetting all the other expenses that come with bringing up a teenager. We have only managed to have one family holiday since my ex-husband left and I have incurred a considerable amount of debt. I also work full-time to try and provide a roof over our heads. As my ex-husband is a director of a limited company, the CMS cannot prove the income he is drawing - he says that he earns only £250. However, his business is expanding, he has taken on a number of employees, goes on regular holidays, lives in an affluent area - and this is only half of it. He also has gone on to have two other children with his new partner. I am certain that he earns far more than this, but there is nothing in place to prove otherwise. I think this agency, set up to ensure parents are treated equally when it comes to providing financial support to their children, is completely flawed and fails to look after parents whose former partners have their own businesses or are self-employed - and this needs to be addressed. I know there must be other parents in the same situation as me, so please show your support and sign this petition - I want this discussed in parliament.

Mark Durkan, Northern Ireland Environment Minister, has granted Canadian gold mining company Dalradian exploratory mining rights in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in Gortin, Northern Ireland. This allowed the company to commence a 20,000 metre underground drilling programme and to extend a 700 metre tunnel to 2,100 metres. We are concerned at the potential consequences for the local community, the environment and the local economy which relies on small-scale agriculture and tourism. If the Minister allows mining operations like Dalradian’s without first fully assessing the environmental impact that sets a precedent for other types of major environmental development. In 2011 the DETI granted a petroleum licence to Australian company Tamboran Resources, which planned to use ‘fracking’ to extract gas from shale rock in County Fermanagh. ‘Fracking’ involves hydraulic fracturing of rock to release gas and is not used in mineral extraction. Tamboran’s plans were recently blocked following protests from environmental campaigners. As of October 2014, the Govt. changed the rules to disallow the first 7 days of any new JSA/ESA claim. As part of a JSA claim, the claimant is required to spend 30 hours per week searching for work. This must therefore constitute a 'job' in it's very description. When working, an employer would not legally be entitled to disregard your first 7 days work and class them as un-payable work days, so why should the DWP (who, when you sign-on, surely become your 'employer') be allowed to get away with it ?.
