The raising of animals for their fur is a practice currently banned within the UK because of the cruelty involved. Many shops now import their fur from countries such as Russia, Finland and China where laws regarding animal welfare are far less strict than ours. Animals (among them raccoon, bear, fox, rabbit, cats, dogs and mink to name a few) in these countries are raised to suffer in intolerable conditions before being removed from overcrowded cages before being anally or vaginally electrocuted , strangled, gassed or drowned before having the skin ripped from them. Some of these animals are still alive when it happens. Could you imagine the pain of being skinned alive? Would you let your pet be skinned alive? If not, why do we allow other countries to do it for us in the name of vanity, greed and profit? This is the 21st Century where such barbarism is no longer tolerated. Many designers such as Stella McCartney produce wonderful faux fur products and many more are now moving away from real fur. While protesting the use of real fur I recently had the pleasure to speak to an older lady who said that the only fur coat she had had belonged to her deceased mother but that she would never wear it herself and would never sell it as it meant someone wearing an animal that did not ask to be killed. I can understand her keeping it as a sentimental object, though as her mother lived in a time when fur was deemed acceptable. It no longer is. My beloved country of Scotland has always prided itself on being compassionate (we were the first country in the UK to allow same-sex marriage, after all). Why can't we be the first in leading the way against the barbarism of fur? If the UK TRULY is a nation of animal lovers then let us be the leading light!

Millions of workers across the UK, from construction workers to IT professionals, are being hit hard in their pay packets. The Umbrella companies make the workers pay their NI contributions (employers NI) as well their own (employees NI). On top of this double NI deduction the company also charges the worker for the 'privilege' of receiving their own money. No matter who we are we all need to get from A to B in our lives. Working transport means we can enjoy our lives and participate fully in society. It means we can reach employment opportunities and contribute to our country. It means healthy and supportive families, friendships and communities. It means access to the public services that we have already paid for. A forum would provide the opportunity to listen to people, business and community needs and deliver a transport strategy that will work for everyone. The County Council has a strategic role in transport planning and a County Transport Forum facilitates exchange of ideas, better accountability and communication with interested organisations.

HOW can the UN think an imaginary , scantily clad , very well endowed ( Barbie doll - statistics) comic book cartoon represents women of the world and 'empowers' them? She is a 'sex symbol ' and will only serve to promote women as sex objects in countries that already veer that way! Are they serious? Yes I get that they need a 'modern ' symbol - but 'Wonder Woman' was out of the 70's (or maybe it is more to do with a new 'Wonder Woman 'film being released in 2017 )??? But would you choose Charlie 's Angels? or Baywatch babes ? what about Bridget Jones ? Or a whole raft of similar females ? Pretty much every REAL woman I have ever met is a better role model for women, for encouraging our girls to be all they can be. Are there no real modern women across the whole world who could not be the UN's ambassador for women ? really ? We deserve better

To much privatisation is happening to the NHS .. 70 MPs and 140 Lords have some sort of investment or involvement with private healthcare companies that we know of ..I believe that giving them a vote on NHS issues brings to mind a conflict of interest

Over the past year I have witnessed first hand the devastating effect that cancer has on anybody affected, not only on the patient but also on family and friends. In the last few days of my dad's precious life, the care he received from the angels at Manorlands Hospice was second to none. This care also extends to family and friends who are affected, and is proving to a necessity as the numbers of people affected by this cruel disease continues to rise. I find it appauling that these vital services are relying heavily on fund raising events in order to keep going. When so much money is being wasted in other areas, or worse still not collected in tax, the people who suffer most are those who are already in an intolerable amount of pain. For this reason, I believe that more should be done to fund the vital services provided by hospices, both in care and in cancer research.

Animals have no voice, as it stands at the moment, animal abusers get away far too lightly. Custodial sentences need to be given out with longer terms. Anyone found guilty of abusing an animal should have a life time ban on keeping any animal.

Publication of photos and personal details can risk the security of unaccompanied young people, who are known to be at a high risk of human trafficking and may be exposed to hate crime. The language used by The Sun, the Daily Star, the Daily Mail and the Daily Express to describe these young people arriving from the 'jungle' camp in Calais is incendiary and inhumane. The deliberate questioning of age, without due care to safety or lawful processes, has the very real potential to expose individuals to abuse, racism and hatred whilst in the UK. International law makes it clear that anyone under the age of 18 is a child. Unaccompanied children frequently have no documents to prove their age. Some don’t even know their own chronological age. Others have had their identities faked by human traffickers. There is a duty on the UK to give those in such situations the ‘benefit of the doubt’ where there is reason to believe they may be a child. The current approach of 'trial by media' undermines these young people's right to fair and impartial assessments of their individual circumstances. It ignores well-established, legal processes that are designed to protect those most in need and undermines the validity of the laws to protect children and refugees. As a mother of two young children, I have found myself in the position of having to carry a pram and still hold onto the other child, leaving me and the kids exposed to trips and falls. During the day the station may be quiet and there will be no individuals there to help you. This is not ideal especially if a parent has had a c-section. I have also seen many other parents struggle to navigate the steep staircase located at the station.
