• Consult the People of the UK on the final Brexit deal
An offer was recently made to MPs to vote on whether to accept the deal that is negotiated, or to leave without one. But there is a third option, which is to say no to both, and to stay in Europe. The original public debate on whether to leave Europe was full of misinformation and promises that have no prospect of being kept. As time moves on, it is becoming increasingly evident that the damage to the UK economy is significant, and is forecast to get even worse. In view of this stark reality the terms on which the UK will be obliged to quit Europe should be put to the nation as a whole, and not left to politicians alone.

  • Stop The DVLA selling on details
We have the Data Protection act in this country to which we have to adhere and therefore the DVLA is likely in breach of this by selling details to third parties for profit.

  • All packaging to be labellled as recyclable or non-recyclable, using universally accepted logos
The majority of items contain packaging of some sort. Often packaging is not labelled as to whether the material is recyclable or non-recyclable. Recycling quotas could be much improved if all manufacturers were made (possibly by law) to state on the packaging if the material is recyclable or not. As a consumer I am often confused when unloading and removing packaging from my weekly shop as to which bin to use, so if in doubt I put in the waste bin. In addition currently there are over 44 different Recycle logos used (see Above) which adds to the confusion, as some are clearer than others. Even if the manufacturer does state on the packaging, it is mostly in very small print on the back of the package and takes a while to determine. The agreed universal logo should be clearly marked in bold on the front or back of the item (preferably in the same place i.e. front bottom right hand corner) just as the notice used on many large plastic bags regarding making people aware of risk of children suffocating.

  • Fair public sector procurement
British businesses are being placed into administration because the public sector is choosing suppliers that are able to offer lower prices in part because they achieve an unfair competitive edge by avoiding taxes. The government should ensure that all suppliers pay a consistent share of tax. Failure to do so will only either drive British businesses into failure or force them to employ the same tax avoidance measures merely to compete. Example: A British company DataCentred was placed into administration because HMRC procured similar services from Amazon, a company that pays far less tax both in the UK and globally than any UK tax-rate. https://www.theregister.co.uk/2017/10/24/datacentred_went_under_due_to_hmrc_move_to_amazon/ https://www.theregister.co.uk/2017/08/11/uk_gov_cloud_favourite_amazon_comes_under_fire_for_tax_bill/

  • GWR should provide Welsh on their signage and in their announcements
Under the terms of the Welsh Language Measure 2011, Welsh people understood that train companies were going to provide Welsh language services. This was a clear message during the campaigning and information disseminated to help Welsh people understand their linguistic rights. Whether Welsh-speaking or not, the majority of Welsh people welcomed and celebrated the extension of the legal status of Welsh into the private sector. Over recent years, Welsh people have received news on several occasions of the increased efforts to promote and protect the Welsh language, such as the 1 million speakers by 2050. As a result, the news that GWR will not be providing a Welsh language service is disappointing. It sends a statement that they do not understand or care about their customer service provision in Wales. The Welsh Government's inability to enforce the status of Welsh in the private sector also sends a message of no confidence in the Welsh Language Measure 2011, and other legal frameworks to ensure the linguistic rights of Welsh-speakers. Where train companies operate through two or more areas where different languages are spoken, there is an expected provision of services in those languages, e.g. Eurostar, VIA Rail Canada, SNCF TGV Paris-Milan (France/Italy). In light of bilingual services provided elsewhere in the world on board train services, any official statements that 'operating in England invalidates the provision of a Welsh language service' should be considered ignorant of both cultural and business practices. Wales is a bilingual country. GWR must respect that.

  • Ban the use of Non-Disclosure Agreements by Employers who have breached The Equalities Act
The Government want to get 1 million disabled people back in to work, but we as a community face bullying and harassment that is routinely covered up and victims gagged. I was bullied repeatedly and then bullied again to take the deal - threatened with no reference if I don't. I need to work, want to work and am very capable. British businesses have been negligent in my case and have paid me more than £100k to not go to tribunal. With no reference and a family to support, I had no choice but to take the deal, and nothing has changed. Settlement agreements have their place in business, but should not be used to gag victims of a crime. Employment tribunals should be available to hear these case and 'educate' businesses as best they can. NDA's are a cover-up, a way for a business to protect it's image and limit the damage. The human impact for me is so much greater, money can't fix it for me.

  • Stop Excessive Data Usage Fees
Currently mobile data providers (Vodafone) let the consumer run up excessive bills and then take the money directly from their bank accounts. This is morally reprehensible.

  • Plastic reduction in supermarkets
The oceans are already choked with plastic and by 2050 , there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish. This could mean starvation to many people and countries that depend on the ocean to survive. This is the sort of environment that breeds conflict and war, thus causing more pollution. I have 5 grandchildren who will be part of this polluted world along with billions of others. We have no need to worry about world war three, as pollution will eradicate the population before , if we don't take action now. If we target supermarkets like Asda, then we can pressurise them into making a difference.

  • Referendum on the final terms on which the UK will leave the European Union
The EU referendum represented a low point in post war UK democratic politics. Only now are problems coming to the fore that were not considered in the referendum and not debated at the time. Oeople did not know the consequences of them and Brexit impact reports are being unacceptably hidden from the people. This is unacceptable and we need a final decision when we know exactly what Brexit means and that means the full terms of an any deal.

  • STOP ROYAL MAIL NOISE POLLUTION AT UNSOCIAL HOURS ON WYNNE ROAD, SW9
The Royal mail depot on Wynne Road, SW9 operates until midnight, and starts at 4am. New flats have been built opposite (completed April 2017) and sold to young Londoners on the HTB scheme, the land was sold by Lambeth council itself. Residents are now being woken up daily due to the noise made by loading and unloading during these unsocial hours. The engines are kept running, trolleys rattled on the road, reverse beeping from the vehicles can be heard, as well as loud loading noises. Royal Mail refuses to use their car park at the back of the building and instead use the loading bay at the front of their building, and double yellow marked areas directly outside the flats.

  • Milk - Plastic OUT Glass IN
Because there is so much plastic used in the distribution of milk that it is now playing a part in killing marine life/damaging the environmenmt. Of all plastic used it is not the biggest slice of the plastic usage pie, but if we could take one kind of plastic container at a time and replace it with something more agreeable to the environment then we would be one step closer to changing our ways and our minds. We also have had a much better system in the past (glass bottles) so there is a known way of making a substitution. There are also novel new ways of creating containers from all manner of organic materials. Basically it is something relatively do-able that could lead on to a string of do-able container changing projects quite easily. So let's start with getting rid of plastic milk bottles. NOW!! (The picture above is: Ari Jónsson exhibited his biodegradable bottle at a design festival in Reykjavik earlier this month. Recently he came up with a way to create a completely biodegradable water bottle using red algae powder.)
