• Release Brian Quail and Angela Zelter
Protesting pensioners Brian Quail and Angela Zelter have been thrown in jail after refusing to accept a court order banning them from campaigning outside a nuclear arms base. Quail, a 79-year-old retired Latin teacher, is being kept in HMP Low Moss, while 66-year-old Zelter has been remanded in Corton Vale. The two were arrested by police for taking part in a blockade of the nuclear warhead store at Coulport on Loch Long as part of the Trident Ploughshares “week of disruption”. The veteran campaigners and three others were offered bail at Dumbarton Justice of the Peace Court on Wednesday, but only if they agreed to not go “within 100m of the perimeter fence or shoreline of HMS Naval Base Clyde, Faslane”. Quail and Zelter refused to accept those conditions and will be kept behind bars until their court date on August 3. The National

  • A FULL BAN ON HARMFUL SUBSTANCES (ACID)
There has been a great increase in the UK of acid attacks on innocent individuals. Those people have suffered severe burns all over their bodies with substantial facial disfigurement. The injuries the victims have are life changing and have a severe negative impact on both physical and mental health. The purpose of these attackers is to spread terror and fear amongst the general public causing people not to leave their homrs and changing their daily lifestyles. It's vital that the government introduces a strong ban on such substances.

  • Anne-Marie Morris MP should resign
Such language is unacceptable in today's society, especially for somebody holding public office. Anne-Marie Morris MP, described the UK leaving the EU without a deal as a “real n*****r in the woodpile” at a meeting of eurosceptics in Central London.

  • Tougher Sentencing for those who commit acid attacks
It will, hopefully deter potential attackers and future attacks. Taking drastic measures may help reduce the epidemic of such atrocities in the U.K. I hope that your signature will bring some justice to people who have been affected .

  • Ban Street drinking - Castleford
So our community can feel safe in our own town. To reduce local crime, littering, urinating in streets. It's having an effect on our local stores as people are avoiding certain hotspots, it's having an effect on our children who are witnessing swearing, arguing, fighting in broad daylight. I walk to work through town everyday and walk around vomit and urine. This is then costing the taxpayers money.

  • Give paramedics body armour
Today, following a Freedom of Information request, it was revealed shocking statistics that show that hundreds of addresses in the UK are considered 'dangerous places' for paramedics to go into. It is a sad state of affairs when it is unsafe for men and women, seeking only to help people in need of urgent medical attention, cannot enter a property without police escorts in place to protect them from harm. The homes have been blacklisted by the Ambulance Service because of previous incidents in which paramedics have been physically assaulted, (including being stabbed and beaten), subjected to verbal abuse or been attacked by dangerous dogs. The ambulance service is right to take every precaution to ensure the safety of its crews, but it is depressing that so many incidents are occurring. The tide of attacks on mercy crews is sadly still on the rise nationwide. Let's hope that this shameful tide turns soon and that the paramedics, who do such good work, will no longer be at such risk.

  • Do not give guns to our frontline police officers
The National Police Chiefs' Council will discuss a proposal to arm frontline police officers during their meeting on July 12. To allow the routine arming of our police officers would be another victory for the terrorists, normalising the threat of violence in our public spaces. Who wants to see guns on our streets? Where could this fundamental shift in approach lead to? - just look at the United States. This is the thin end of the wedge and would be a decision that is unlikely to be reversed. An unarmed police force is something to be proud of and is a clear demonstration of our society's values and priorities around violence and its peaceful resolution. The way to protect our society is to make changes to the causes of the symptoms (foreign policy, social care, education), not to try and manage them with firearms. • All supermarkets stop selling the Daily Mail and Sun for one month!
After all the lies about Labour (and the related racist articles) printed before the last election by the Daily Mail and the Sun, we are asking your supermarkets to stop selling these papers for at least one month. The Independent Press Standards Organisation is absolutely useless as a regulatory body, because at best after an enquiry, all newspapers have to do is print a tiny apology months later after the incident.

  • No more Police and Station cuts
It's stated that if the cuts go ahead people will be able to go into places like cafes and McDonald's to have a chat with the police. This will not work, can you imagine a distressed person sitting in full view in possibly a cafe having to report things that's happened while people are sitting close by eating. This is not what Sadiq Khan was voted in for. It is not the will of the people to continue to cut these most valuable service. There must be no more cuts to the emergency services only more resources put in place and the reopening of all the stations as well as more Police recruited rather than their ridiculous cuts.

  • Andy Burnham: Create a Levy for Free Access to Justice
Justice is being denied to the people of Greater Manchester. Legal aid no longer covers most cases involving housing, welfare, debt, immigration or medical negligence. Between 2005 and 2015, the number of not-for-profit legal advice centres in the country fell from 2,226 to 1,462[1]. Greater Manchester went from having nine law centres across our ten boroughs to only having two. But, our ever-defiant community refused to accept this, and together we fought to restore and improve access to justice for people in poverty and vulnerability. It is thanks to this collective effort that the Greater Manchester Law Centre opened its doors in Moss Side last year, and we are making great strides to meet the advice and representation needs of those who need it most. We are fighting, together, for free access to justice. But we need more than words and encouragement, and we welcome your support for making similar legal services available across Greater Manchester. This is Manchester, and we do things differently here. Let’s lead the way and try something new, and implement the idea we dreamed up together. To survive, we need to be creative. Let’s fund our free, face-to-face, high quality legal advice and professional legal representation by imposing a levy on commercial law firms.
