Stop A6 carnage in North BedfordshireThere have been two major accidents on this stretch of the A6 in the past few weeks - so severe that air ambulances were required. Drivers routinely speed on this narrow stretch of road, a hazard which is exacerbated suicidally by their tendency to use the right-hand turning reservation into Park Lane (MK44 1LX) for overtaking, and the almost total lack of visibility from the Templars Way junction (MK44 1PZ) leftward, owing to vegetation and crash barriers, when trying to cross the dual carriageway to turn right. In addition, supercar events and similar gatherings at the Sharnbrook Hotel regularly result, despite the hotel's best efforts in putting up warning signage and safety tape, in fast cars using this stretch of the A6 (as well as surrounding residential roads) as their personal racetrack. There *will* be death on this stretch of road if the relevant agency does not act decisively to slow the traffic down and to ensure that those who persist in driving irresponsibly are systematically caught, fined, and, if necessary, banned.608 of 800 SignaturesCreated by Simon Fletcher

Stop Speeding in LlandogoTo all those who want safer roads, to all those who love walking, cycling, sightseeing and living in the lower Wye Valley and to all those who are fed up of seeing reckless drivers using rural village roads like motorways, please sign this petition. Currently drivers travelling through Llandogo can break the speed limit, driving at whatever speed they want, when they want. And they do. We have the data. Vehicles have been logged by Llandogo Community Speed Watch driving 60-70mph. Drivers even overtake other vehicles in the 40 and 30mph zones in order to maintain their high speeds! We are the only village on the A466 not to have prominent road signs or any traffic calming. Even villages on surrounding B roads have better measures with rumble strips, driver feedback signs, pedestrian crossings and islands. For some reason though, Llandogo does have yellow lines preventing parking roadside at weekends, when other villages are unrestricted and their parked cars serve to slow traffic further. Speeding was identified as the No.1 concern for Llandogo residents in a recent community consultation, but because the village is not an 'accident hot spot' Llandogo has been completely overlooked by the authorities. The sad truth is, the community is being impacted 24/7 and it's not positive. As traffic speeds, intensity and road noise have all increased the residents have had to adapt, changing their behaviour and curtailing activities they once enjoyed, such as walking, cycling, running, even gardening and playing games; health-boosting, sustainable activities. Crossing the road on foot can be intimidating, especially for the elderly and the young heading to the school and bus stops. Well used footpaths end abruptly at the road edge with dangerously little visibility for both walker and driver. Pets are regularly killed or maimed on the road. Manoeuvring out of driveways is often met with aggression from speeding drivers and close misses are too common. Local people actually fear to cycle on this road. A serious road traffic accident in Llandogo this summer involved an Air Ambulance evacuation of a cyclist from the village green. Cyclists and pelotons are often cut up by speeding drivers taking risks. Speeding and aggression on the A466 is a constant topic raised by tourists to Llandogo. If we do nothing it will only get worse. Please sign this petition to make Llandogo a safer and more pleasant place for the local community, for visitors and for all road users. Let's stop drivers breaking the speed limits in Llandogo.443 of 500 SignaturesCreated by Nickie Moore

#idoexist - Give domestic violence survivors emergency identificationImagine fleeing domestic abuse, finding the courage to start a new life, only to discover you can’t find work, claim benefits, or even rent a home. That’s the reality for many domestic abuse survivors, whose abusers often steal or destroy their identification documents – passports, birth certificates and driving licences. Emergency ID would enable survivors to prove their identity and citizenship and allow them to access benefits and housing support immediately. It could also be used to support them when trying to gain DBS checks, driving licences or passports.273 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Staying Put

Clamp down on tax avoidance in the UKThe ‘Paradise Papers’ are just the latest in a long line of tax scandals. The system, which is rigged to benefit the privileged few at the expense of everyone else, is broken. The impact on our public services of these corrupt practices, protected by a veil of secrecy, has been devastating. After seven years of austerity, it is time for irresponsible tax dodging to come to an end. HMRC, the government body tasked with policing the tax system, has seen its staff numbers and budget halved since it was formed in 2005. Meanwhile, the UK government has failed to take the opportunity to clean up the offshore system, in territories like Bermuda that are under its control, and make it harder for individuals and companies to avoid tax. It is little wonder that tax dodgers are taking advantage. Tax Justice UK, the country’s leading campaign organisation for a fairer tax system, is now calling for the UK government to take decisive action to end the scourge of tax avoidance, once and for all, by tightening up on enforcement and introducing new transparency rules.215,588 of 300,000 SignaturesCreated by Will Snell

Reverse cuts to legal aid for UK citizens prosecuted by the State and others. The cuts to access to justice for those facing criminal prosecutions must be reversed before the disaster that has occurred in civil legal aid cases representation is repeated. It is essential to halt the erosion of access to legal representation in the UK when citizens are facing funded prosecution (especially by the State). The erosion of legal aid strikes at the heart of our democracy, destabilising the level playing field that Justice requires and increasingly divides the nation between those wealthy enough to buy legal services and the rest who increasingly are forced to act in person. This false economy causes delay and unplanned expense. It increases social division The present cuts are imposed despite steadily a steady reduction in legal aid expenditure (From £1,289 in 2010 -11 to £863. In 2016-17. [£’000s]. At a time when the Government is attempting to present a positive image internationally for our legal services the damage to our reputation is in fact immense: From the Bach Commission evidence ‘Appendix 5: An analysis of evidence received by the Commission’ the following stark conclusions are reached: 1) Cuts to the fees paid under the Litigators Graduated Fee Scheme (“LGFS”) make much of criminal legal aid work uneconomical; (2) The rate of remuneration for advocates in many hearings often falls below the minimum wage. (3) The application of the merits test and means tests to legal aid in the magistrates’ court and Crown Court prevents deserving clients receiving representation and causes delay. (4) The number of offices handling legal aid criminal work has gone down by 20%. Legal advice deserts are being created and increasingly those denied Justice will beat a path to MP’s surgeries in desperation. We call upon the Government to reverse the cuts and engage in discussions for meaningful reform of the criminal Justice system and its funding.1,927 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Robin Murray

Speed Calming Measures in Harpsden Road, Wilson Avenue and Watermans RoadThe residents need peace of mind and relaxation at night so speed calming measures need to be put in place to stop our cars being damaged or written off, animals being killed and prevent the injury or death of a child as a result of people constantly excessively speeding, motorbikes doing wheelie's and mainly driving like lunatics. Our roads are used as a quick cut through, with vehicles usually driving faster than the 30 mph speed limit on a regular basis, in an attempt to beat the traffic on the busy Reading Road and then used as race tracks at night. The result of this behaviour is lots of damage to vehicles and losses of beloved animals. My daughter's car that she didn't know she had was written of by a speeding driver who fled the scene leaving no details early hours of 1st October 2017, as reported in the Henley Standard. Numerous cars have been side swiped or had wing mirrors damaged by speeding vehicles and we sit and listen to the screeching of brakes and await the bang of the collision on a regular basis in the evenings. I personally have witnessed a couple of cyclists being knocked off their bike's and motorcyclists doing wheelie's or tricks up the road, animals being hit and killed while the driver carries on their way without stopping. This needs to stop!!! It was bad enough when the road was covered in potholes but since it has been resurfaced it has become 10 times worse at least. It is only a matter of time before it becomes a pedestrian that is badly/critically injured.160 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Helen Pitcher

Stop the planned closures of Woodford and Barkingside Police Stations.Although Woodford Police Station is closed to the public, it is a vital hub for local Police Officers. There are 4 planned hubs for Ward Officers in Redbridge. However, it is unclear where these will be and Woodford residents may not be able to locate their local officers easily. The closure of Barkingside Police Station will affect the most vulnerable residents greatly as this will mean that we only have one 24 hour Police Station open to the public in Redbridge, which is in Ilford. This isn't good enough and many will find it difficult to go to report crime and sometimes unable to do so in other ways. Even though the public consultation is already closed, we need to keep the pressure up to make sure we keep these Police Stations in use.160 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Ashley Gunstock

Don't give G4S & Serco the power to arrestIn a shocking 290m privatisation deal, Serco and G4S – the same two companies who were stripped of contracts for tagging prisoners because a Serious Fraud Office investigation revealed they were charging for tagging people who didn’t exist – are going to be trusted with the handcuffs by the government. Essentially, the proposals would see G4S staff given the powers of Civilian Enforcement Officers. That is, authorised officers/employees of Her Majesty’s Courts and Tribunals Service becoming vested with the power to seize and sell goods to recover money owed under fines and community penalty notices, and to execute warrants of arrest, committal, detention and distraint. The sticking point here is that although much of the recovery and enforcement arms of the Court service has long been outsourced to ‘Authorised’ Enforcement Officers (employees of various other private companies), the line has until now been drawn at outsourcing the power of arrest. No more.222,821 of 300,000 SignaturesCreated by Suzi Glantz

Bring Joey Home ❤️This is joey, our 13 month old pup and he has now been seized after dog wardens picked him up classing him as a stray after he slipped his collar, the police are trying to intimidate us by telling us Joey will suffer 6 months in their kennels and other nasty things they said to which I got all on record. We will not sign him over and we will fight until we get him back. This is a support page for Myself Martina & Joey. Currently waiting to open a case with a professional Solicitors that deal with this. Never thought this would ever happen as he’s such a kind loving puppy, my little sisters are as devastated as us. This is happening too often and many dogs are being destroyed purely because of their looks and being deemed a dangerous dog. It's absolutely wrong in so many ways. We need to stand up for our dogs and beat this BLS #SayNoToBls #ItsNotTheBreed #BringHomeJoeyBear726 of 800 SignaturesCreated by Josh Cardno
