• Save the Centre of Great Notley from being a Tesco housing estate
There is no heart to this village anymore. Unless you can count Tesco as a viable community (as it is prolific to the extreme in Braintree) to meet people in GNGV? Due to an originally chosen bad choice of 3 planning applications and succession of bad management, the site was closed earlier this year. It is the Centre of what is supposed to be a community, but due to the aforementioned reasons, in order to make up for lack of profits the prices went up and drove customers away. It was a lack of foresight from 3 planning options that Braintree District Council allowed this inappropriate venue to be built. It was not the favoured option but they did it anyway. From other local 'family' orientated pubs, the format can work and has a proven track record. The fact that Shepherd Neame and Braintree District Council made a bad decision in choosing this option is not the fault of the community. We have to live with those decisions. I do not think that a simple redevelopment of the land for housing is conducive to the inclusivity of residents to form a coherent community. I doubt that will happen in a concession of the local predominant Tesco that seem to litter the district of Braintree. We have 4 stores already and if that's the heart of the community then it is dead. I would ask people put their name to this petition to evidence that the community wants to retain a central point where they can meet. A village hall is insufficient for an inclusive social environment as the activities are specific to what's available. Should you choose not to sign, then I think we will be resigned to a demolished pub that's replaced by more houses.

  • Ban Street drinking - Castleford
So our community can feel safe in our own town. To reduce local crime, littering, urinating in streets. It's having an effect on our local stores as people are avoiding certain hotspots, it's having an effect on our children who are witnessing swearing, arguing, fighting in broad daylight. I walk to work through town everyday and walk around vomit and urine. This is then costing the taxpayers money.

  • Stop Ocado's self driving vehicles in London
It is important for one simple reason: It puts people out of jobs. Let's start with stopping Ocado's trials for self-driving vehicles in London, and then move on to stopping drones, self service points in supermarkets, and anywhere else that threatens hard working people' jobs and only serves to make the rich richer and the poor poorer.

  • Make Westferry Road Safe for Children & Residents
On Monday 26 June 2017, there was a serious accident on Westferry Road, in Canary Wharf Ward, Isle of Dogs, Tower Hamlets - an elderly woman was hit by a lorry and she is now, tragically, fighting for her life in hospital. As a local ward councillor, I am in contact with the family on regular basis and she remains in a critical condition. The family is grateful for many people who have shown concern and requesting everyone for prayers. I have sent an urgent message to the Council requesting a meeting with the Highways Officer to highlight the concerns on behalf of the residents. Many residents and stakeholders believe that in spite of 20 Mph speed limit – many vehicles go dangerously fast at this community hub with the local school, park, medical centre and shops, pubs etc. The zebra crossing - used by local residents, visitors and children - is not good or secure enough. We just can't afford any more accidents. Thank you, Cllr Maium Miah Canary Wharf ward 07983 798 791 London Borough of Tower Hamlets Town Hall, Mulberry Place 5 Clove Crescent London E14 2BG

  • A515 Ashbourne Road Pelican Pedestrian Crossing Required
The traffic should be doing 30mph on this section of A515 however most cars exceed this which leads the road to be hazardous to young children and the elderly. It is worrying to see that the bollards on the island crossing have been knocked down by vehicles... What if people were stood at the crossing when this happens again? I see an increasing number of children going to school, crossing this road. I think either a lollipop man is required / traffic calming measures or ultimately a Pelican crossing installing. There are crossings in place for other areas of Buxton where children cross regularly, why shouldn't Ashbourne Road be treated the same? Please consider the safety of residents before a bad accident happens.

  • Do not give guns to our frontline police officers
The National Police Chiefs' Council will discuss a proposal to arm frontline police officers during their meeting on July 12. To allow the routine arming of our police officers would be another victory for the terrorists, normalising the threat of violence in our public spaces. Who wants to see guns on our streets? Where could this fundamental shift in approach lead to? - just look at the United States. This is the thin end of the wedge and would be a decision that is unlikely to be reversed. An unarmed police force is something to be proud of and is a clear demonstration of our society's values and priorities around violence and its peaceful resolution. The way to protect our society is to make changes to the causes of the symptoms (foreign policy, social care, education), not to try and manage them with firearms. • All supermarkets stop selling the Daily Mail and Sun for one month!
After all the lies about Labour (and the related racist articles) printed before the last election by the Daily Mail and the Sun, we are asking your supermarkets to stop selling these papers for at least one month. The Independent Press Standards Organisation is absolutely useless as a regulatory body, because at best after an enquiry, all newspapers have to do is print a tiny apology months later after the incident.

  • Replace the terms 'Girls and Boys/ Ladies and Gentleman' to improve wellbeing
There are significant numbers of people, who feel strongly about these issues - are you one of them? Replacing these terms would signify a move forward in a progressive society that seeks to value people. 'Labelling' is a social construct and as such can be de/reconstructed. Those responsible for providing a service, compulsory or non-compulsory, to the general public can lead the way in replacing these terms from audio and written materials to move closer to a society that embraces equality and diversity in a meaningful way. The positive message that this action could effect links to equality, diversity, mental health, resilience and wellbeing. All of these factors can contribute to flourishing linked not only to the emotional and psychological benefit of the country and as importantly the economic health of a nation. A flourishing nation is a rich nation. The Wellbeing of Future Generations Act (Wales) 2015 sets out this stall. The overt and subconscious messages that permeate society around gender, limit the aspirations of those who absorb and internalise them. Language plays a powerful role in the development of identity and self belief. This call to action requests a simple and clear mandate, to catalyse cultural change and be part of the solution rather than the problem. Wales leads the way on many progressive issues; let this be one of them. Be part of that change.

  • Emergency accommodation for Grenfell Tower victims
It is obscene that foreign investors can buy up and leave unoccupied these properties whilst in this country there is a dire affordable housing shortage. It is a sad indictment of our society, and in particular of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, that this state of affairs is allowed to exist.
