  • A FULL BAN ON HARMFUL SUBSTANCES (ACID)
There has been a great increase in the UK of acid attacks on innocent individuals. Those people have suffered severe burns all over their bodies with substantial facial disfigurement. The injuries the victims have are life changing and have a severe negative impact on both physical and mental health. The purpose of these attackers is to spread terror and fear amongst the general public causing people not to leave their homrs and changing their daily lifestyles. It's vital that the government introduces a strong ban on such substances.

  • Cheshire East's withdrawal of some supported bus services
The saving of £1.6 million would be counterproductive as cutting bus services in Cheshire East will have undesirable consequences and cause distress and inconvenience to many residents. We believe that the following groups would be more adversely affected; the elderly, disabled and infirm, the young and people on low incomes. Getting to work, shops, schools, colleges, doctors, banks, social events and hospital appointments would be made more inaccessible. We also believe that trade in towns and town markets will be affected. The stopping of evening services will have a negative affect on restaurants and pubs and other social groups. We are concerned that the withdrawal of bus services will result in more cars on the road and significant reduction in air quality. Many of the towns and villages are growing in size and as a result we should be given improved services not declining ones.

  • Alternative plan for Sidmouth's Port Royal - the 3Rs
In October this year EDDC will decide on future development for the Port Royal area of our seafront. This follows a scoping study done in conjunction with Sidmouth Town Council. The large-scale development put forward in the consultation (and as proposed in the Local Plan) will have a huge impact on the views, use of the area and change its unique character. People in Sidmouth have been asking why the area can't remain as it is, with subtle improvements and changes. We now call on EDDC to reconsider their plan for a large new building and adopt our proposal to Retain, Refurbish and Reuse. Retain existing buildings, allow careful refurbishment of the whole area and open up discussions on potential uses for the Drill Hall.

  • BBC Radio Scotland reverse the decision to remove music from your programming
BBC radio scotland plays a vital role in the Scottish music industry as it supports genres of music that would otherwise not get exposure, World Music, Americana, Folk and many others, there is no need for another talk only radio station in scotland but there is a need for diverse programming that caters to something other than mainstream tastes. As a musician and a music lover from Scotland I would understand if there were many alternatives in this country but quite frankly there aren't, so please do not get rid of something that is not only valued but unique.

  • Bring Pearl Home
In the early 60's the sculptor James Butler RA was commissioned by Maxwell Fry, the architect who designed much of Hatfield Town Centre, to produce a fountain for White Lion Square, which he did and it was subsequently installed and formally unveiled on 18th April 1970. The fountain was decommissioned in 1986 and the centrepiece sculpture, carved from Portland and Derby stone, of a reclining female nude in a shell, locally known as ‘Pearl’, was moved to Hatfield School. The school closed and the site became New Barnfield Library and Resource Centre, which in turn has also closed. In early 2013 the sculpture was removed from the former school site, some minor restoration work was done to it and it is currently languishing in a storage yard forlornly waiting to be re-situated, in a prominent location that’s as yet to be decided despite numerous requests, in Hatfield, where it rightfully belongs. We, the undersigned, request that as part of the forthcoming redevelopment of White Lion Square that the iconic sculpture of a Reclining Nude in a Shell, ‘Pearl’ by James Butler RA, which formally constituted the centre piece of the fountain in the square, that was commissioned and created specifically for White Lion Square, be reinstated in a prominent location back in White Lion Square. The sculpture ‘Pearl’ was created by James Butler RA who is an internationally renowned artist as a site specific piece to adorn White Lion Square and as such it forms part of Hatfield’s historical and cultural heritage. Every effort should be made to return it to its intended location so that it can once again be enjoyed by the public and once again form a focal point within the square, as was its original intention.

  • Save the Parkwood Springs New Age Traveller Site
The New Age Travellers have been occupying the site next to the Ski Village in Sheffield for approximately 13 years. This has been a home for many people of all ages, beliefs and backgrounds. The occupants have settled there and have looked after the area by cleaning it up, keeping crime down by being security for the surrounding businesses and some grow their own vegetables, herbs and fruit. They have a good relationship with people in the area and have been told by people in the area that they do not have a problem with them living there. Sheffield City Council are wanting to move the travellers as they are wanting to re open the Ski Village as a sports facility. This will make the Travellers homeless and having to find somewhere else to live. This may have an effect on the children living there because they may have to find new schools and may also effect some of the traveller's health. The travellers do not have a problem with the Ski Village reopening in fact they think it is a great idea they just do not want to be evicted because of this. Please would you sign this petition to show the travellers your support and let them keep their home.

  • Plumtree Road Safety
The safety of our school children is at serious risk. It is very difficult for pedestrians to cross this road near the complicated junction where traffic also moves quickly on the approach down Main Road and also down Station Road from Keyworth. The layout of the staggered crossroads makes pedestrian crossings (typically parents accompanying infant and junior school children) extremely hazardous. Additionally, our own research has shown passing traffic to regularly be exceeding the current limit of 30mph, even at school start and finishing times, which leads the road to be even more perilous for the very young children who cross it so regularly. This is despite current limited traffic calming measures in place.

  • Revise the Plans for Staplegrove Ramps
We've been aware TDBC have been planning to replace the aging metal Mini Ramp at Staplegrove for a long time. As far as we're aware, there has been no user group consultation with the skateboarding, BMXing or other communities in the town, The plans have been passed without any proper consultation with the wheel sports community in Taunton. The design shows the existing 4 foot mini being replaced with a skatelite 6 foot mini and a separate 10 foot vert ramp. Which aren't connected in anyway. The plans are completely outdated and unwanted by the overwhelming majority of the demographic it would apply to. We already have several ramps exactly like the ones that are proposed in the local vicinity and not one of them is used for it's intended purpose because they have absolutely no appeal. They are cheap and horrible things; Skatelite ramps are of a time now gone and so in part are these kind of basic designs. Councils all over the country have clocked that these ramps aren't wanted and are opting for concrete parks and ramps designed by professional skatepark builders. Hamilton Park is a well used and well loved park because of the fact that time and care was spent planning, designing and corresponding with the right people to get the right thing built. With next to no correspondence with the people that would actually be using the facility, this WILL be a complete waste of the councils, tax payers and other funders money. Viridoor Green and Lyngford Park are perfect examples of this. The right people were not involved with planning and there are now two parks that are not used and have been essentially written off to the community. The planning application can be found here. Along with PDF links to the proposed plans. http://www2.tauntondeane.gov.uk/asp/webpages/plan/PlAppDets.asp?casefullref=34/17/0010 While the planning has already been passed, we feel it's not too late to let TDBC hear our voice. If you agree that the plans for two separate outdated ramps should be revised and replaced with a properly up to date professionally designed concrete ramp, then please sign this petition. I'm sure I speak for almost every person whether they be a skateboarder, BMXer, rollerblader, when I say that we do not want these awful ramps!

  • Change Taffs Well to a well enforced 20mph speed limit throughout
After speaking to residents along the full length of the Village, the majority of people mentioned either suffering near misses with speeding vehicles, being fed up of 'boy-racer' types speeding noisily through through our streets at all hours and also disdain at users of the A470 using our village as a short-cut. We have only one speed camera by The Swan Inn aimed at slowing people down as they enter the Village from Nantgarw. Firstly - this only slows down drivers at the first 50ft of Cardiff Road, at which point they can drive any speed they like past the school, shops and surgery. Secondly, the camera doesn't stop everybody from speeding through the Village from the Tongwynlais end and exiting the village at speeds of approximately 50mph towards Nantgarw. The traffic situation needs urgent attention and we, the residents are now prepared to enter an official dialogue with the Local Authority with the view of agreeing a plan of action to make our community a much safer place.
