  • Objection to Proposed Boundary changes Lambeth
The Local Government Boundary Commission is proposing changes to the ward boundaries across Lambeth borough. The Commission recommends the creation of a much smaller ward for our area, creating a “Streatham Common Ward”, which will include the Streatham Lodge Community area. This will then become the smallest ward in the borough of Lambeth. Importantly this would result in losing our current 3 councillor status and moving to representation by just one councillor, we would be the only ward in the entire borough to have just one councillor representation. For many years the three councillor system has proved very effective and a great deal has been achieved. We believe that this proposal is unacceptable for a variety of reasons and not least that a single councillor would be stretched beyond their limits. A single councillor will present many practical difficulties without the cover of a second councillor. The problem is particularly acute in addressing the many problems associated with the use of the Common, which, at times, need urgent and immediate attention. Further, many councillors also serve roles in the council (such as a Council’s cabinet member) in addition to their normal councillor duties. It will be almost impossible for a single councillor to take up such multiple roles. This will significantly reduce our representation at the council’s executive level. It would also sever ties we have currently with the wider ward. Streatham Lodge is a residential area. However, our children go to schools outside our area; we shop, use leisure facilities and workship in places in adjoining areas. By isolating us in a small ward, our single councillor will have little or no influence on decisions made for these establishment outside of our ward, in the adjoining areas. We need to be part of a bigger ward to have an effective voice and are able to play a part in decisions and matters that are important to our daily life and to the future of the area’s character. Severing the ties with our traditional “neighbours”. For many decades, we have been part of the Streatham South culture sharing many commonalities with our neighbours in the adjoining areas. By confining us into a small ward away from the Streatham South culture, it will sever our cultural link with our traditional neighbours and the ability to jointly develop this attractive culture further. It is therefore important that you sign this petition, so together we can ask the Commission to understand the importance of the issues outined above and to incorporate Streatham Lodge Community into a bigger ward in Streatham South. https://consultation.lgbce.org.uk/have-your-say/21383

  • Nurses Pay-rises 2021
We have to reward and recognise what every nurse has been through not only during lockdown but every single day. In addition how will we be able to encourage the next generations to work hard to qualify when they will be getting paid peanuts. Then the government will pay agency nurses or get people in from overseas again at a more greater cost to us the taxpayers.

  • DVLA rip off
The practice of taking money from two customers for the same car. There is no other name for this but legalised fraud. Also, DVLA rules are complex which can lead people to make mistakes especially for those who are unaccustomed to the internet. Even if the mistake is made by the DVLA, they are not allowed to refund tax paid. This is unacceptable.

  • British Gas must negotiate with the GMB
“In July, British Gas owners Centrica unveiled plans to fire and rehire the entire workforce if they didn’t accept detrimental changes to their pay and terms and conditions” GMB Despite the loyal service of its workers, working above and beyond especially during the winter months; despite putting their lives on the line because they haven’t stopped working throughout this pandemic British Gas is threatening to fire 200,000 workers, and then rehire them on a worse contract which will see pay cuts, longer hours and losses in pension entitlements.

  • Bring back the 209 bus service
My name is Nathan Hodgson and I am passionate and determined to bring about positive change in and around Morley. One of the campaigns I am currently fighting is regarding the 209 service. After speaking to local residents, they have informed me about their struggle to commute to Leeds since the cancellation of this service. This particularly effects the elderly residents who relied on the service to take them to Leeds and have since had to walk over the moor onto the main Whitehall Road. This is not only an unreasonable ask in terms of the route but also threatens the livelihoods of older people who used the bus stop as a social hub and the service as a way of connecting with friends and the wider community. It is imperative that the service is back in use or further isolates a community who once had the bus as a necessary outlet for both travel and socialising. We are calling on Arriva to provide this service once more, or at the very least bring forward a solution to this issue by changing a different service to accommodate the residents of Drighlington.

  • Remaster Under the Knife for its 25 year anniversary (2022)
Over 20 years since its release and it’s still one of the best albums in hardcore, would love to see the sound quality improved and what it would sound like if it was made with the studio and equipment they have now. (Yes I’m aware that Smash Your Enemies, Not One Truth and Puritan have appeared in higher sound quality on other albums)
