• Make men more aware about men's breast cancer
This issue is important because the majority of men are not aware they can get breast cancer. They need to understand how effected they can be and what chance they have of getting it.

  • Fortnightly bin collections are a rubbish idea
Mismanagement of local government finances in the B&NES district now means that rubbish collections will only take place on a fortnightly basis after November of this year. If there is one public service that is required to run smoothly to maintain public standards of health and cleanliness, that is rubbish collection. The present B&NES administration don't seem to understand that fewer rubbish collections will inevitably lead to increased risks to the health of all of the residents and also visitors to the area, or that their plans for extra numbers of wheelie bins probably aren't sufficient to prevent the inevitable increase in animal and gull nuisance, let alone the probable odour issues that are certain to arise as numbers of uncollected binbags mount up in the summer months. Say that you do not agree with these badly thought out plans and want to live in a cleaner, safer, and less smelly environment than B&NES council have got planned for their residents. Demand that weekly bin collections are retained and that the Conservative led council actually work on behalf of those they claim to represent, instead of reducing an extremely important public service regardless of consequences.

  • Mental health emergency service
At the moment I am going through a tough patch with anxiety and depression and I find myself feeling scared. I increasingly feel that I want to go to hospital, but am aware that it is much harder to become an inpatient than it was 20 years ago. An issue I saw on the Government petition website made me think. If long term sufferers like me, or their families, phoned 999 they could be put through to a person trained to deal with these issues. They could provide immediate support or intervention or a referral. This would free up the police and ambulance services. If another emergency service needed to be involved, this could be assessed and coordinated. Equally, one of the other emergency services could contact the mental health team for advice or to require a physical presence by one of the team. The Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Trust already have street triage in place, so this could be used as a model for a nationwide roll out : https://www.bsmhft.nhs.uk/our-services/urgent-care/street-triage/ This petition has been inspired by the following petition: https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/172423

  • Update Musselburgh's Care Homes
Claire says, "This is important because the people using these facilities are the friends and family of people from our community. With the amount of housing being built this problem can only get worse and it is our parents and grandparents who will be the ones to suffer. "The most vulnerable in our society deserve the best care and facilities that we are able to provide. The care provided by Eskgreen and The Hollies is second to none but they provide that care in spite of the chronic under investment made by our council and government."

  • Stop the cuts to education
The education our children receive has a huge influence on their future chances in life but the Government plan to change the funding formula to schools. The Education Policy Institute says the impact of “large real terms per pupil cuts of between 6% and 11% by 2019-20” amounts to an average loss of £74,000 per primary and £291,000 per secondary school. The EPI add: “It equates to, on average, the loss of almost two teachers across all primary schools and six teachers across all secondary schools.” School buses and extra curricular activities may also be impacted and parents may be asked to take up the slack, impacting poorer and remote communities most. The Government cannot be allowed to gamble with our children's future. Please sign and share this petition to put pressure on the Education Secretary.

  • Mhairi Black: Stay in Parliament!
Parliament is rubbish - we all know that. And being a good MP is probably even more rubbish. But we need the good MPs to stay in Parliament, and make it less rubbish. And Mhairi Black of the SNP is one of them. I'm English, and don't want Scotland to leave the UK. I wouldn't vote the SNP. But I know a good opposition MP when I see one - who calls out the hypocrisy of the government, speaks up for those stepped on by the cuts and makes sure the Brexit deal we get from the EU is a good one. Parliament is full of boring old men, weird traditions, strange rituals and some seriously odd cosplay. One of the chambers isn't even elected, and the building itself is falling apart. That's why we need decent MPs like Mhairi Black to stay in office and strive to make it better - more representative, responsive and honest. Mhairi: Please don't leave!

  • Chlamydia routine screening in pregnancy nationally
I work in a hospital enviroment where i see families affected by the common STI, Chlamydia ( Chlamydia Trachomatis). But what shocked me the most is the UK NSC and Public health have not worked together to approve Chlamydia screening in pregnant woman. I have seen women and heard stories from women, who have given birth to babies that have had Chlamydia that has been passed on by the mother while being vaginally delivered. These women have not known that they had Chlamydia and feel a sense of guilt and anger that the fact they never knew which could hhave been prevented and that they had passed this on to their baby. Chlamydia could potentially be fatal to a baby if left untreated, It can cause the baby to have very bad eye infections ( inclusion conjunctivitis) from being exposed to the mothers infected vaginal fluids, it could lead to an infection in the respiratory tract, causing infant pneumonia which if this isn't then picked up could lead to respiratory failure. A women who is infected increases the risk of her waters breaking prematurely, causing the baby to also be born early. This is why it is important for me to get this changed. It costs the NHS less to test the mother before baby arrives, to what it does when both mother and baby need treating with antibiotics. the stress and suffering of seeing a poorly baby should be enough to ensure that every mother is given every right to ensure her health is well before her baby enters the world and be given a right to a healthy baby. Its not fair on the little babies Some hospitals do do this but its not a necessary screen nationally, which is why we need this to be a national screening process. Women asume that they have been tested, but its not always the case for a lot of pregnant women. Please support this campaign. I want this changed nationally so it becomes apart of the antenatal screening process and Public health and the uk NSC to make a decision in making this possible. Please sign..

  • Requesting Home Office to revise the Settlment visa process and applicaiton
Settlement application are important step in many people life , but is far from being informed and manged process and it turned to be a nightmare to many British families and bring them apart. Mamy mistakes happen every day and the appeal process is very lengthy and can take 1 to 1.5 years Similar settlement processes in Australia or Canada could take same time but it is far less stressful and with less mistakes.

  • Drug companies should contribute financially to give support for the elderly in social care
It is unethical to profit from a very vulnerable, although massive percentage of the population, in the name of progress. Quality of life has to be a major contributory factor when people are kept alive and "well". How can society justify this unethical practice when all we can offer is a longer life (with the help of medicines) for a great deal of these people who often live in misery and isolation with at best, for many, a 15 minute call from a carer, which may be the only human contact they have on a daily basis, at worst no human contact for several days at a time? My elderly parents (both in their 90's) are fortunate, as they have 5 caring children, who assist in the domestic, shopping , transport, outings and upkeep of their home. Others are not so fortunate. We need to campaign to look at solutions to this ever growing challenge of making the elderly a target for government often directing their "blame" for the state of our health and social care services. They don't just need basic care, but recreation and socialisation to ensure a good quality of life. Ian Wright my local MP (Hartlepool) has ignored my email so please help with this campaign to raise awareness of this plight on behalf of our elderly population and get at least a debate in Parliament on this emotive issue. We owe it to them.
