• Put in Speed Bumps along down Albany Road
Unfortunately at present Albany Road is a very dangerous place to be walking on the public footpath. It's is equally very difficult to judge when to cross the road. There is a high degree of speeding motorists down Albany Road. Disappointingly the police don't appear over enthusiastically interested. Not so long back i received an unwelcome attempt of being made to look humiliated & embarrassed. It was promoted to others that I was not correctly illustrating the truth. Fortunately they say a camera never lies & I have that to hopefully dispel any possible uncertainty anybody may have. Unfortunately as consequence of these frequently speeding motorists down Albany Road I've unreasonably endured months of sleep deprivation & my pre-existing medical conditions have been exacerbated & adversely effected.

  • Resident parking at Portway/from bridge to Westbury road
It is important to us all to be able to park to off load heavy goods, even groceries. Personally I have broken my Pelvis, yesterday I drove to get milk, I returned home straight away but a Barney lodge employee had parked outside of my front door ! I had to park under the bridge, I sat in my car and wept how am I going to walk that far unaided and by myself . Also as the houses here are around 200 year old listed buildings we are all updating and maintaining them. There are many stories of inconvenience, not being able to get a builders van parked in the street is often very stressful ! my story, I had to walk to Barney lodge to ask two members of staff to move their vehicles, I was having a wood burner installed and they needed access to the chimney, achieved by using a cherry picker, no chance of parking it, The owner's did move but were surley at being called out of work. Most of us are repairing and caring for these old buildings, they are a part of our History, part of our National heritage. Please help us to live here more comfortably, all we need and ask for is Resident parking as we continue care for these charming old cottages. Thank you for taking the time to read our issues, they are effecting our daily lives in a negative way.

  • Stop UK food industry using plastic food packaging
The amount of plastic being used is clogging up the oceans and putting its sea creatures in danger. We've seen the horrific stories of sea turtles being suffocated by plastic bags and fish with bits of plastic and beaches strewn with bottles, toys, lighters and straws. These materials take hundreds of years to break down. We can't go on like this. It has to stop.

  • Protect Red Squirrels in Perth and Kinross
Perth and Kinross is lucky to have a thriving population of red squirrels which bring great joy to many people. Unfortunately, many red squirrels are killed by speeding vehicles, especially on country roads. The Council needs to be proactive in protecting this native species. Erecting red squirrel road signs and reducing the speed limit on country roads is a good start.

  • Cut our unnecessary plastic waste
The ever-rising tide of our plastic waste has recently been found washing up on the shores of Henderson Island, an uninhabited island in the South Pacific, where 38 million pieces of plastic are now lying. Plastic is littering our countryside, hardly degrading, and it is floating around in the oceans where fish are mistaking tiny pieces of plastic for food. A recent analysis is now showing that we are all probably ingesting microplastics in our tap water and in the world's salt where they remain as residues. And our appetite for disposable coffee cups and bottles shows no sign of waning. All of these are warnings that we must all cut our plastic waste, and the huge industries that create it must help consumers to recycle, and ultimately find alternative, biodegradable materials, or better still cut unnecessary packaging altogether. Reusing plastic bottles is not enough. Consider how much plastic we get through everyday that is marked as 'not currently recycled': food packets, vegetable wrapping, 'post-consumer film' on fruit punnets and ready meals, snack bags, the reams of plastic when you buy a new gadget, not forgetting pens and carrier bags, greetings card sleeves. I ask, why is this not currently recycled? It is very difficult to live in the modern world without such a convenient material, but it is possible to find alternatives if the will and demand is there. We already have cellulose and waste potato starch from crisp manufacturing that can replace film and polystyrene. Pens and pots can be made from tyres and plastic cups. Not only can we stem the tide of plastic in our oceans, we can save energy and money by reducing the processing of our plastic waste. We also need to protect animals and ourselves from exposure to microplastics.

  • Replacing street trees
Brockley is in the middle of a radical tree-trimming and removal programme. This came without any warning to residents. The trees around the Aspinall Road area of Brockley are famous for their spring blossom and their fruits feed hundreds of birds in the area. They are a beautiful and particular feature of the area. Children have played in them and elderly people sit out in spring to enjoy the blossom. They bring protection to properties from hot sun in the summer and a sense of partial privacy in built-up areas. Where they are replaced, the species are not consistent. They are vital in this over-polluted city.
