For all those soldiers that lost their lives

We were witnessing an important, serious and extremely sombre moment in our nation's history. A time when we are being asked to cast our eyes back on decisions that have led to loss of life, loss of limb and loss of family both here and in Iraq. In addition to the hundreds of thousands of Iraqis killed, 179 British service personnel and 23 British civilians lost their lives as a result of the conflict this country entered into in 2003. The Chilcot Report was commissioned so that we could responsibly, maturely and with gravity look back and reflect on those events and to draw lessons for the future. The families of British servicemen and civilians killed in Iraq have awaited this day for answers, so that perhaps they may find some closure and to allow their grief to finally end. And in that forum, at a time when respect for the dead was of the utmost importance, Ian Austin felt it appropriate to act like a schoolyard bully and to attempt to shout down the moving statement made by the Leader of the Labour Party. Because by allowing even a limited trade in ivory it will lead to the extinction of elephants in the wild within 25 years. The ivory trade is also a driver of criminal activity that causes misery and hardships to many African Communities.

Considering that only 72% of the U.K. Population voted in the recent EU referendum and that many voters seemed to have not realised what they may have been voting for it is now time to offer pupils at secondary schools an education in politics. This subject is vitally important to not only empower people to exercise their right to vote but to also encourage younger people to engage in a democratic process that affects their lives in so many ways. A career in politics seems to be exclusive to those who have received a university education and this will further exclude those from less privileged backgrounds. If we do not teach the next generation about the value of politics then we are faced with a narrow minority of our population affecting the day to day lives of the inhabitants of this country furthering the political divide we already have. Vote for politics in all schools!

The council have stated that they will not take steps to improve this area until there have been fatalities. Why? It seems ludicrous to wait for this to happen when there could be improvements made quite simply. There have been several accidents at this site and this whole area is made more dangerous by the lack of speed cameras in this area of the Stratford Road. Residents have described seeing cars regularly travelling at excessive speeds (day or night) which of course will make any incident more serious! They have also described constant skidding, racing, speeding and boy racers/motorbikes doing wheelies around the Island. As a result, residents have heard and witnessed some upsetting road traffic collisions(RTC's) including injuries since the Island has been built. The railings at the pedestrian crossing have been totally destroyed in an incident that happened on a Sunday morning at 7.30am - 3rd July 16.There were actually 2 accidents that morning and one the day before. A temporary barrier has been put up but this has been either blown or knocked down leaving pedestrians totally exposed to danger! This crossing is now too dangerous for people to use, which is potentially lethal considering the speed of the vehicles travelling here. THE COUNCIL CLAIM THAT THEY CANNOT REPLACE THE RAILINGS DUE TO COST - we would like to ask them to reconsider. This is an accident hotspot which could have a tragic incident at any moment. We would like to ask you to make it safer BEFORE a death occurs.

Single use Plastic as a whole needs to stop. I feel as though this should not need petitioning and should just be done, every bit of plastic we have ever made still exists today, killing animals and destroying environments. Let alone to mentions the chemicals in plastics that enters our body via food and beverages.

A quick survey around my village so 0% of people are happy with the junk they get through the door. This is such embarrassing waste of materials and shows that it won't stop until effort is made. To force adverts through people's doors is Invasive and is further still promoting consumerism. We are already consumeristic, it is poisoning and a cheap way to get business at a huge cost of waste.

I came for my lunch today and found Buster (a cat that adopted us in distress, we cared for him and got him well), lying in the road having been shot with by a .22 airgun pellet in his neck. I have had to have him put to sleep as a result of this injury. There is no need for the public to own an airgun and I believe that they should be treated as a firearm and the police should have more power to arrest and prosecute people who cause injury with these weapons.

Iraq is now a failed state and home to terrorist groups such as Islamic State. There is great intolerance between shi'ite and sunni communities which did not exist before the 2003 invasion of Iraq. Many British and American servicemen lost their lives and millions of civilians have been killed,displaced or orphaned.
