• Queens honours for surviving WW2 Veterans
Because these men risk there lives in WW2 they gave the ultimate sacrifice. If it was not for these men and millions of others the world could of been a difference place. They were courageous and damn right selfless they are true true heroes. In light of the recent honours going to people like rappers and actors who do there jobs for a living and make alot of money doing it. I feel its absolutely disgusting our War heroes are not included in the Queens birthday honours. Please please support and sign this petition so all the Veterans receive knighthoods. Thank you

  • Not Prostitutes but Sex Workers
The terms "prostitute", "whore" and "hooker", to name but a few, are out-dated and judgemental. Sexual services are, and have for millennia, been used for by a wide spectrum of people, from those in the highest echelons of society to the most "ordinary" person. The people who provide sexual services have the right to be respected and recognised, and not judged. They should be universally known as "sex workers" to reflect what they really do.

  • Petition for Avon Pension Fund to end investment in fossil fuels
As a fund member I am calling for divestment from this destructive industry and reinvestment of our money so it contributes to building a positive and sustainable future. 1. A climate emergency has been declared by local councils including Bristol, North Somerset South Gloucestershire and Bath & North East Somerset among over 100 local authorities in this country; 2. The Governor of the Bank of England has warned funds of the risk of ‘stranded assets’ if they continue to hold fossil fuel stocks; 3. The United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has given the world until 2030 to take action to reduce carbon emissions or face climate breakdown; 4. Around the world pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, investment houses and others have committed to divest from fossil fuels; 5. Avon Pension Fund now invests through the Brunel Pensions Partnership and has started to invest in a low carbon fund (though this fund does not exclude carbon intensive stocks); 6. This is the pension fund members’ money and fund members in local Unison branches have repeatedly resolved to seek this divestment. Unison has also called nationally and locally for divestment.

  • Give families help to buy reusable nappies and wipes
Reusable alternatives are easier to use than ever and the mountain of waste created by just one baby in disposables is shocking. They take far too long to break down and are clogging our rivers and waterways. I'm asking the government to provide vouchers to pregnant women to enable everyone to try cloth nappies. Even using them part time can make a huge difference. Some councils currently offer help, but it's not nationwide and many people don't even know the help is available.

  • Free Travel For Kent Children
Following an extortionate rise in the bus fares for school children, we would like the council to give us free bus travel for school age children as is the scheme for children living in London. Children in Kent often live in communities that are rural or semi rural and have difficulty getting to school so rely on a bus service. The recent increase has made this too expensive for a lot of families, especially those with more than one child.

  • Dyslexia assesments to be mandatory in primary schools.
Students are reaching university not knowing they're dyslexic and not getting the support they need. Grades would significantly improve, for example I get A's in my exams and D's in my written assigment making me pass, however if I'd of recognised my dyslexia sooner I would of done better. Students have sued the council for school's not testing them, this is because schools are meant to recognise it and continue to fail. I therefore believe this clearly isn't enough as so many go without diagnoses and support.

  • Reduce Transport costs for under 18 across the whole country
We all agree that more use of public transport is essential. The more independence our young people have the more successful and engaged they will be, however, from the age of 14/15 they have to pay full fair on public transport. If they work, (and there are extremely limited jobs for younger people in school or college) it is for limited hours and reduced wages. People under the age of 18 cannot vote, generally don’t drive, they can only work part time as they have to be in full time education, they are classed as minors in all areas, and are not adults so why do we allow companies to charge them an adult fare when clearly they do not have adult resources.

  • New Bridge South 0f Newcastle-upon-Tyne
The River Tyne has no crossing points between Newcastle and the Tyne Tunnel at Jarrow. For an area the size of Tyneside this is a ridiculous state of affairs. I suspect this could be to maintain a flow of tolls into the Tyne Tunnel. However 7 miles of Tyneside is cut off from the other side, this is unacceptable. People have to either commute to Newcastle to cross or go through the expensive Tyne Tunnel. Sunderland have just completed a fantastic new bridge the Northern Spire at less than half the cost of the second Tyne Tunnel. A bridge would ease the congestion and pollution caused at the Tyne Bridge. Please support this campaign so we can make an overdue change for the better for the people of Tyneside!

  • Average speed cameras Northern Approach / Via Urbis Romanae, Mile End, Colchester
It is important to get this done as vehicles are using this as a race track. Vehicles constantly back fire due to them speeding. The road is very wide with a bus lane running the full length also. It is dangerous for the local residents and also of the young children that attend the primary school.

  • EGM for Ropewalk (Southampton, UK)
The chair of the management Committee is leaving in August. The new constitution (brokered in 2013) is not legally binding. Last years AGM was not held in accordance with the new or the old constitution. The Ropewalk Garden is an important community asset which is challenging to run and needs full support from all sections of the cities community to function effectively. An EGM would enable us to change our culture and overcome the factionality which hampers us from engaging more effectively with the public. We need long term committed volunteers to be hands on in both committee and gardening and community liason roles. We need to adhere to the requirements of the covenant with the council and our constitution. An EGM would mean we can move on from the past and forge new connections ensuring the garden has a future.
