Stop greedy landlords charging six-monthly student rent risesMany university students - especially in London - can only sign a six months' lease on a shared flat or house. And when the lease comes up for renewal at the end of the six months, they find that greedy private landlords have put the rent up. If they can't afford the new rent, they are forced to move on. Renting for students in this day and age is not a pretty process. My grand-daughter has been forced to move house three times in eighteen months, causing her considerable hassle and distress and financial loss for hiring a van to move her stuff. This is a frightening, destabilising and depressing process that no student should have to endure. Every university student should have the right to establish a secure home-away-from-home with their friends. Those of us parents and grandparents who have to watch our young people being taken advantage of by greedy landlords will not accept that this is the new norm. So, James Brokenshire, will you act now to stop this six-months'-lease scam and give every student the chance of at least a twelve-months secure tenancy?19 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Mary Marriott

New affordable housing for DorchesterLocal housing provision is in crisis, more should be done to put the housing needs of local people first. Successive councils have failed to do this and have encouraged developments that have served the local population poorly.16 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Richard Filer

Minimum prison education pay.Education in prison provides so much more than knowledge. It can, as a friend said to me, be a pathway to discovery. Education should underpin any plans for reform and rehabilitation. This has to start at the top. Provide the pay that will see those wishing to go to education, but can't afford to, the same opportunities as those that can. How can there be a class divide of life chances in prison?21 of 100 SignaturesCreated by David Breakspear

Adequate help for mental illnessesThis is extremely important to myself as I suffer from anxiety and my oldest son suffers with extreme anxiety and on occasion low mood. I had to fight for years, constantly taking my son to his gp just to receive an initial referal for him. He is currently being seen through CAMHS, where is he supposed to be seen on a fortnightly basis, however he hasn't had an appointment since November! I have contacted CAMHS on a number of occasions to be told he is still an active member on their list, however, they cannot tell me when his next appointment will be. This has left my son and myself feeling frustrated, deflated and we feel we have nowhere else to turn for support. As a sufferer of anxiety myself, I know how awful it feels and how it gets in the way of your day to day life, but for a child this must be unbearable. There is no worse feeling as a parent trying your best for your children but not knowing how to help them. In my area alone, the suicide rate has almost tripled in the past few years. I find this figure to be extremely alarming as it shows just how extreme the impact of mental health can have on people. Most of these people taking their own lives are kids....our children and the next generation. Our kids are living in a world where so much is expected of them, and the pressure to fit in and do well in life clearly shows it can all be too much for them. We need to end the stigma relating to mental health and we need to teach our children it's ok to talk about their feelings and it's ok to feel overwhelmed at times. I was deeply shocked and concerned to see the handful of MPs who attended the debate just earlier this month regarding the issue of child mental health. If our MPs are not going to take this matter seriously and fight for our children then we must. It's about time they realised how important this issue is as the problem is growing and growing year by year.13 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Louise Kirkwood

Tram track noiseIt is important for the local residents so that the noise level will reduce and it will be a quieter area as the trams starter at 5am in the morning and finish at 01:30am in the morning, and there is a tram every few minutes through that section of track northbound and southbound 364 days a year.6 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Graham Occleshaw

THE RIGHT TO A SITE!Despite the Housing Act 2004, there is still a recognised national shortfall in Gypsy and Traveller site pitches. This means that one in four Gypsies and Travellers are considered homeless because they do not have a legal place to park their home. Gypsies and Travellers are also often subjected to hostility due having to set up their own unauthorised encampments. Therefore, they are constantly receive racist abuse, threats, discrimination and bad media press, which can lead to high levels of anxiety and depression. However, at the heart of resolving these issues is the provision of adequate and appropriate sites for Gypsies and Travellers. As a result, every Gypsy and Traveller in the UK should have THE RIGHT TO A SITE!!6 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Charlotte Greenhow

Armed Forces Pension SchemeIt is extremely important to me, as it once again proves that HM Government has treated veterans with contempt and a total disregard by basically stealing from both of their pension pots.19 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Michael Price

First Aid as part of the National CurriculumKnowledge is such a powerful tool. Anybody could find themselves in an emergency situation at any time. Knowing how to respond by giving first aid could make a huge difference to the outcome of a situation. It could potentially relieve some stress from services such as the NHS also. We live in a time where technology is so advanced, yet only a handful of individuals in academic or workplace settings have been trained in First Aid. Everybody should be equip with this knowledge not just the select few. We will all be safer if we know how to react in an emergency.4 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Adele Smart

Speed bumps save livesFor years we’ve been waiting for the road to be made safer. No one sticks to the 20mph speed limit and there have been numerous crashes due to people driving wreckless around the blind corner. Sandy Lane is a very busy road! There are lots of children and elderly residents who live close by that frequent the park and shop. Due to people totally ignoring the speed limit and there being no speed camera to monitor the traffic, I strongly believe the road and residents would benefit from speed bumps. If drivers won’t willingly slow down then put safety measures in place! It was only three days ago that ANOTHER crash happened outside my kitchen window! And last year our beautiful kitty was ran over by a wreckless speeding driver. I know I’m not alone in wanting the council to do something to make where we live safer so please help me by signing as it will help everyone else.47 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Amy Myers
