• X - Ray facilities in Helston
To prevent the elderly and vulnerable having to travel long distances to large Hospitals more suited to major Trauma, with small injuries such as finger dislocations (which still need an X-ray to diagnose). This would free up staff to treat life threatening, major cases, and prevent patients waiting, often in severe pain, for hours in A&E. for with minor injuries. I tripped over in the road in Helston and could see my thumb was at a strange angle. My son drove me straight to Helston Hospital Minor Injuries Unit. I was in a lot of pain but they just said go to Truro A&E. This was at 2.30. and I finally had the dislocation set at 10 that night. No pain killers offered, or blood wiped away - I was a 'Minor Injury' and frankly, clogging up the very busy department. The old lady next to me had fallen on her face and she too, sat with me the same length of time, covered in blood. We should have been treated at a Minor Injuries Unit near where we live, it makes sense, surely ? If my son hadn't been there it would have been an ambulance and then left stranded in Truro with no way of getting home, late at night, which I also have experienced.

  • Review preparations for dealing with a nuclear convoy accident in Cumbria
Nuclear warheads are regularly transported in convoys on public roads to and from the atomic weapon factories at Aldermaston and Burghfield, and RNAD Coulport on Loch Long, where the weapons are stored and loaded onto Trident submarines. A nuclear warhead contains radioactive material and high explosive and this poses serious questions about public safety. The Civil Contingencies Act 2004 requires Category 1 Responders (including Local Authorities) to conduct a risk assessment of potential threats and to keep the public informed. According to the Ministry of Defence (MoD) document, Local Authority and Emergency Services Information (LAESI) Edition 10, if there was a serious accident the MoD would look after the nuclear weapon, but Local Authorities, Emergency Services and the Health Service would be responsible for potentially contaminated casualties, evacuating people nearby and advising many more to stay indoors. We want Cumbria County Council to openly review how prepared the civil authorities are and inform the public about their findings. Then the people of Cumbria can decide whether this transport poses an unacceptable risk.

  • Say NO to spending £660,000 on York 'brand'
With so many cuts to local spending during the recent years of austerity, it seems quixotic, disingenuous and irresponsible to be splashing out on something that we already have (Make it York). We already have a 'brand' our Yorkshire Rose and our reputation is enough to encourage people and trade to come to our city; "In 2018 York was named Britain’s best place to live by the Sunday Times and best city for architecture in the world by Condé Nast Traveller magazine." (Chloe Laversuch, The Press, 7th January 2019). We also have the injection of Ultra Fibre broadband, the first in the country, to attract further business to our city! I believe York could benefit more by having the money spent on another, more needed, area e.g., housing, environmental issues, public services, education, the homeless in our community... Let's make York even more of a place to be proud of, by leading the way in the things that really matter to everyone sharing this beautiful city! • Rein in CEO pay and link it to employees in their company
CEO pay is too high and has grown so much quicker that their employees. FTSE 100 CEOs are now paid: • 165 times more than a nurse. • 140 times more than a teacher. • 132 times more than a police officer. I want CEO total pay capped to a 60 times ratio of the lowest paid in the company. If they want a pay rise everyone in their company should get one.

  • Officially change Henman Hill to Murray Mound
The majority of sporting venues throughout the world recognise their greatest champions. I know Wimbledon is different in that it sticks with tradition and would never rename the courts. I however believe this would be a way showing support and appreciation for what Andy has brought to British tennis over the past decade or so.

  • Save Sweet Tree fields Farm, Marsh Lane , Mill Hill
This is a local farm one that has been around for many years, it is a wonderful place to visit and is an asset to the area, it is a farm that is warm and friendly , it is a joy to visit, I cannot imagine the area without Sweet Tree farm and to lose this wonderful resource would be a big loss to the community, we should be saving places like this , they will soon be a thing of the past, if we keep letting bureaucracy shut these places down

  • Biodegradable chewing gum
It is estimated that 374 billion pieces of gum are sold every year amounting to about 560,000 tonnes of gum of which some 80-90% is polluting streets, pavements, countryside and damaging the environment. Like plastic is found in fish. Biodegradable gum is available NOW. Why are we allowing this completely preventable, unhealthily and damaging pollution to continue any longer!!

  • Abolish self employment in place of secure employment
I have been self employed most of my life and not by choice.. as a Shopfitter self employment is the only choice available to you if you wish to pursue your trade. Taxes are subtracted at 20% and then must be submitted for review at least once a year but this more often than not gets missed/ignored for a host of various reasons.. this then never gets fixed with the self employed now not having had valid accounts to show for over 10 years plus.. the fear of being landed with large late submission fines being the most common reason for not sorting out the problem) being ‘self employed’ keeps most people in work 8 months of the year (if they’re lucky) in between work no unemployment benefits or government help is available because you’re simply told that you’re ‘self employed’ and don’t qualify! Also, we never qualify for holiday pay because again we’re told we’re self employed! Change is needed, the only benefit to self employment is to the government statistics keeping unemployment numbers down and employers saving thousands of pounds on holiday pay and expenses with the self employed now being responsible for supplying their own vehicles, own tools, h&s safety/training courses, accommodation and living away expenses etc. Basically the employer has no outlay and if you don’t meet the required criteria then somebody else will.. a no win situation for the so called ‘self employed’

  • Disabled Parking at Hospitals in England
England is the only part of the UK where hospitals routinely charge patients and visitors for parking at all. Guidance by the Department of Health & Social Care is that concessions should be available for disabled people.* Free parking should be allowed for disabled people because they: > Are commonly forced to visit hospital more frequently, precisely because of their disabilities > Generally have much lower incomes, often less than half the national average > Are much more likely to live in poverty** > Often have to meet extra costs directly caused by their disabilities * https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/nhs-patient-visitor-and-staff-car-parking-principles/nhs-patient-visitor-and-staff-car-parking-principles#fn:2 ** https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/disability-facts-and-figures/disability-facts-and-figures#living-standards

  • Pull pension funds from fossil fuels
If it is wrong to wreck the climate, then it is wrong to profit from that wreckage. We believe that governments that serve the public good should cut their ties to the fossil fuel industry. MPs must show leadership on climate change by responsible investment and transition to a clean economy. Find out more here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f5T-YhjpNnE#action=share

  • poisonous plastic peril
Non biodegradable plastics and packaging are poisoning the seas, killing animals and entering the food chain on which we depend. We are a part of this wonderful world; not apart from it. But time is ticking. The old, outdated materials do break down. And then join the soil along with the leaves and other organic matter. Petrochemical plastic is a silent assasin which we have unleashed upon our dearest friend. There is simply no other choice but to phase it out fast. We have all seen the news. Isn't it a pity and isn't it a shame that we can't watch the Blue Planet without so many horror stories at the end of every episode. This maybe the most chilling tale so far. Anyone who watches the world closely will have noticed this menace creeping its way into the ecosystem and choking its innocent inhabitants. What we cannot see is that is also seeping into the very lifeblood of this planet and becoming a part of us and our children...

  • Continue to Remember our War Heros
The trees were planted after the end of the first and second world wars to commemorate the dead soldiers. Unfortunately some of the trees are diseased and the local council are going to remove them. They say they will not replace the trees. It is the centenary of the end of the first world war and therefore shows a lack of respect for the men lost from our town!
