poisonous plastic perilNon biodegradable plastics and packaging are poisoning the seas, killing animals and entering the food chain on which we depend. We are a part of this wonderful world; not apart from it. But time is ticking. The old, outdated materials do break down. And then join the soil along with the leaves and other organic matter. Petrochemical plastic is a silent assasin which we have unleashed upon our dearest friend. There is simply no other choice but to phase it out fast. We have all seen the news. Isn't it a pity and isn't it a shame that we can't watch the Blue Planet without so many horror stories at the end of every episode. This maybe the most chilling tale so far. Anyone who watches the world closely will have noticed this menace creeping its way into the ecosystem and choking its innocent inhabitants. What we cannot see is that is also seeping into the very lifeblood of this planet and becoming a part of us and our children...2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Ben Stork

Continue to Remember our War HerosThe trees were planted after the end of the first and second world wars to commemorate the dead soldiers. Unfortunately some of the trees are diseased and the local council are going to remove them. They say they will not replace the trees. It is the centenary of the end of the first world war and therefore shows a lack of respect for the men lost from our town!174 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Janet Sharp

Divest Parliament from Fossil FuelsThere is currently a campaign asking MPs to pledge to support the divestment of Parliament from fossil fuels. This has already happened in the Irish Parliament and has had a massive effect in changing public opinion and making them aware of the devastating effect that the fossil fuel industry has on the environment. If only 20% of the proven fossil fuel reserves are burned, we will not be able to keep within the UN's target of 1.5 degree temperature rise, and any more than this will cause catastrophic and irreversible climate change. This makes the drive towards fracking utterly non-sensical, as fracking is part of the problem and not part of the solution. Divestment from fossil fuels is an essential component of limiting climate change, because we cannot afford to be investing in such a damaging industry. Just 100 companies, many of which are fossil fuel companies, contribute 71% of carbon emissions worldwide. I am asking you please to sign the parliamentary pledge at the earliest opportunity. It will send an important message to other MPs if you do so. If you are not prepared to sign it, I would like to know the reasons why you do not share the view that this is an essential step in the process towards limiting climate change.18 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Honey Smith

Save HMV from closureThis is so important as I have been shopping at HMV ever since I bought my first CDs, cassettes and then more recently vinyl from there since I was aged 9/10. It overtook other retailers last year to be the biggest seller of physical music releases - remarkable when it was on the brink of collapse in 2013 thanks to the efforts put in by previous buyer Hilco. Even though digital streaming and download services exist, I still shop at HMV regularly twenty years on - at least once a month - as I support the presence of a high street outlet for music lovers like myself, and the permenant closure of HMV would mean the loss of this vital sector of the high street that has been present there for longer than I have been alive. The alternative is the tax evading, clinical outlets of Amazon, who I refuse to patronize because of this or their employment ethics. Furthermore, they give an opportunity for fans like myself to get up close with opportunities to meet their music and film heroes at in store signings and events for the price of a CD or DVD, a wonderful experience that will also disappear if HMV does. Pete Paphides, rock critic for The Times has put into words far more eloquently why it is so important it is saved - the link to his article on Medium is here: https://medium.com/@petepaphides/you-dont-become-a-specialist-music-fan-overnight-3391589f3f18. So I and the undersigned are calling upon KPMG to ensure that HMV is saved, and continues to empower local economies and is not lost from our high streets forever.14 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Alexander MacGregor

Stop non recyclable wrapping paper!David Attenborough no less has suggested we might like to change our ways to avoid boiling seas and the End of Days! Changing our preferred type of gift wrap is an easy win. How much landfill is taken up with clearing away xmas? Aiming to make this change on wrapping paper is a small step in the right direction. Gift wrap that crumples up and stays crumpled can be recycled. Demand better labelling. We're ALL affected by this. The crumply, recyclable paper hides presents just as well.45 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Daisy Zoll

Keeping the free television license for people over 75 years of age.The television is the only way that poor people over the required age limit have contact with the outside world. It has been brought to my attention that members of the U.K.parliment receive A free television licence for there constituency offices, which is totally unfair when M.P.s can well afford to pay for T.V licence.2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by James Ross

Petition for The Bank of England to have both a female and male on the new £50 noteThis will conform to the "Equality Act of 2010" and be DEMOCRATIC - both requirements of our underwritten constitutions by INSTITUTIONS. To achieve this, I suggest using the consultation on the website set up by The Bank of England for the general public to put forward a personage they would like to have on the new note, who has served the nation by their 'SCIENTIFIC ENDEAVOURS AND RESULTS AND WHO ARE DECEASED'. From this survey, take the top 4/5 females and top 4/5 males and then on the basis of these 2 lists have a nationwide 38 Degrees petition to decide the final two (one from each list). This incorporates both The Equality Act of 2010 and is democratic. This would be a model for all new notes in the future and bring all notes inline with The Equality Act of 2010.4 of 100 SignaturesCreated by John Hadman

Drive UC back to legacy benefitsSo many people are being scrutinised by this government and as a result, are suffering. Many stories have been shared in the media since this cruel system rolled out. It’s time for this government to be held to account. Enough is enough. Only the rich can survive in the UK today.22 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Cindy Vanstone

Limit Online Gambling amountsIt is important because online gambling is destroying families and peoples lives. The online gambling companies are quick enough to restrict or even close peoples accounts if they are winning too much. In other words it is impossible to win. Let's level the playing field by restricting what everyone can spend with an online gambling company to say £50 per week. This way debt and asset loss cannot spiral out of control in an extremely worrying short space of time. I know of a case where somebody gambled away their family home without their partner knowing anything until the repossessors knocked on the door.8 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Robbie Fraser

Stockport Council - Withdraw plan to scrap the emergency Local Assistance SchemeWe, the undersigned note with extreme concern : 1) That Stockport Council has put forward a proposal to terminate the Stockport Local Assistance Scheme, in order to make a budget cut in 2019-20 of £486,000. 2) That the Scheme offers support to meet emergency needs, such as when someone has no food, clothing or gas and electric for their home and it provides practical support to persons moving on from temporary accommodation, through provision of furniture, beds and essential household items. 3) That the Council's proposal comes at a time when Professor Alston, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Extreme Poverty and Human Rights, has reported that : "14 million people, a fifth of the population, live in poverty. Four million of these are more than 50% below the poverty line, and 1.5 million are destitute" and Stockport Foodbank states that 1 in 5 children in the Borough live in homes below the poverty threshold. 4) That the Council's proposal comes at a time when Universal Credit is being rolled out in Stockport, bringing with it all the well documented effects of increased hardship and increased debt. 5) That this proposed cut, hitting the poorest people in the Borough, comes just a few months after the Council declared a budget surplus of £4.7 million for the 2017-18 financial year. 6) That the Council's own Equality Impact Assessment on the proposal reveals that 36% of the awards from the Scheme, in the last 3 years, went to people in the Borough's poorest ward, Brinnington & Central, whilst only 0.4% went to people in the wealthiest ward, in Bramhall. We, the undersigned believe that it is morally repugnant and wrong for the plight of the poorest people in the Borough to be worsened by this cut being targeted upon them. We, the undersigned demand that the Council withdraws the proposal to terminate the Stockport Local Assistance Scheme and instead that the Council ensures that the Scheme continues and that the funding of it is increased where necessary as needs become greater.115 of 200 SignaturesCreated by John Pearson

Free UK Public Transport to reduce Climate ChangeWe need to reduce Climate change and the UK needs to play it’s part in doing so and offer an alternative to taking the car every where we go. The government want’s us to chance our vehicles away from Diesel and Petrol at our expense with very little or no incentive to do so.13 of 100 SignaturesCreated by David Lee
