Residential parking is increasingly becoming unavailable and unmanageable along Gooder Lane and the surrounding residential streets due to a lack of parking facilities at Brighouse train station. Rastrick has a high density of residential properties, which already makes the possibilty of parking limited. The lack of parking facilities at Brighouse train station means that rail commuters are having to find parking elsewhere, namely on neighbouring residential streets, making residents unable to park anywhere near their own home. As Rastrick & Brighouse Councillors, we have lobbyed the Council for a number of years to look, in partnership with the other stakeholders (e.g. WY Combined Authority), at this situation, to no avail. The situation needs an holistic approach exploring all veasible options and solutions to avoid displacing the problem on to other streets in the area. However, simply put, we need more parking facilities at Brighouse Train Station. Gooder Lane is a regularly used highway by residents, railway users, businesses (both shops and industrial companies), HGVs, and day to day commuters. This road, and many of the 'offshoot' residential streets (Bridge End in particular) are very poorly maintained, and have been for years, meaning that many drivers avoid using this road and instead use another route which causes congestion on other main roads. These roads need to be properly assessed and dressed. As Councillors, we are continually told that assessments will take place but, to date, none have taken place and no action has been taken to address this problem.

My wish is to have crematorium buildings which meet the needs of mourners, at a difficult and sensitive time, and support professionals working there. These new buildings should have much more seating, so that no-one has to stand, or wait outside, through the service. They should have a changing room for clergy, and ideally, toilets accessible from inside the building. At present, all Wirral cremations take place at Landican cemetery, in buildings which seem to date from the 1930s or 1940s. There are 3 ‘chapels’. Even the largest ‘Central’ chapel is often full to overflowing, with mourners having to stand, or even wait outside, whatever the weather. About 8 out of 10 funerals that I have attended there, have been like this. CULTURE & DIVERSITY In keeping with the council’s Equality & Diversity policy, they should have no religious symbols in the architecture. Instead, portable religious symbols, eg. Crosses, may be stored, or brought in, where appropriate. I am a Christian (URC) but we live in a multi-cultural society, with people of different faiths, and some with no religious faith. We now have humanist funerals, which celebrate the life of the deceased, without reference to God. The new buildings should reflect this. I am aware that some faiths prefer burial to cremation, but suggest that those faith groups who use the crematorium should be consulted about the design. COST I am aware of the council’s budgetary restrictions, however, these proposals only require capital expenditure, not an on-going commitment. The council receives revenue from funerals. The miniature railway at Brookside Garden Centre has been established for 40+ years. As well as many locals who visit, people come from far and wide just to see the wonderful set-up. The legions of children and parents who ride the trains each year will be extremely disappointed that it's all about to change. Management at the garden centre have decided to run the operation themselves. At the end of September the current owner has been given notice to quit and will be dismantling all the museum memorabilia and taking away the steam trains for auction. If enough people object to this move by STRIKES then maybe - just maybe they might think again.

The vital benefit within my local area to attract people to discover and appreciate the natural environment is great for locals and protecting the beautiful picturesque which we should not take for granted.

Millions of commuters face longer journeys, more crowded trains and fewer travel options.The very opposite of what was promised. Its obvious to anyone who travels by train on a regular basis that the timetable changes are simply unworkable. Compensation wont get me to work and back on time. So time to stop it now. #getbackontrack

1 in 3 of us will suffer with a mental health issue in our lives. Whether it be depression, eating disorders, body dismorphia, suicidal feelings or stuggling to cope with life on a daily basis, yet we are not given any advice or lessons in schools to learn coping strategies or how to spot an issue and help others. We have sex education, but not education on how to cope with a relationship break up, we learn about nutrition, but not about how to spot someone who is abusing themselves with food. We need to teach our children how to cope if they or their friends, family need help.

The North Coast 500 is being widely promoted without the local infrastructure being improved to cope with the extra demand.

The pedestrian crossings need urgent review in Plumstead. There are limited, inadequate and in some places non-existent safety measures in place for pedestrians to cross very dangerous roads. As an example Swingate Lane, Garland Road (by the slade), Kings Highway to name just a few. This is an urgent request to review road safety as a priority. Many very dangerous roads are located near primary schools which the council provides lolipop people however this is not adequate for the residents and elderly who need to cross these roads every day. Some of our aging and frail residents prefer not leave home due to fear of the roads.
