Recycling at BDCWe need to lead by example and show the students that our planet is important and that we must look beyond our selves at the bigger picture. The college produces a huge amount of waste a day that is ending up in landfills which could easily be recycled. As a college we have no excuse for not recycling!6 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Sally Ibrahim

Keep sexism out of the olympics. This petition was started on International Women's Day 2018. It is on days like this when we can reflect on the mistakes of the past and look at ways of avoiding those mistakes in the future. During the first modern Olympic games in 1896, women were excluded completely on the grounds that their inclusion would be, "impractical, uninteresting, unaesthetic and incorrect". It wasn't until 1900 that women were actually allowed to compete. 118 years later, women are still segregated from men in Olympic sports and there are still several disciplines where women are excluded completely. It is time for this to end and by signing this petition we are sending a strong message to the Olympic Committee that it is time for all segregation to stop, for all athletes to be allowed to compete together and for athletic ability to be judged and awarded equally regardless of gender.8 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Simone Clarke

Check every child for tongue tie at birth. The Scottish Government promote breastfeeding as being best for baby and provide literature about positioning and attachment but when a baby has a tongue tie sometimes no amount of repositioning can help the excruciating pain it causes for the mother and tongue tied babies also often struggle to transfer milk. As babies need fed very often a tongue tie can cause terrible anguish for the mother and make her give up. Tongue ties are becoming increasingly common and a simple procedure is all it takes to remedy them so all babies should be checked at birth.324 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Chala Mckenna

Free Parking For Hereford Halo Leisure at the Swimming PoolAfter paying £400+ for a membership at Hereford Halo Leisure pool, you then have to pay for parking each time you attend. With wanting to go 5 days a week for a good 2 hours that would cost an extra £15 a week. Resulting in £700 a year. Making the membership £1000 a year which is just crazy! I’ve made this petition as I know a lot of other people have the same issue and I think if you’ve paid £400+ for a membership, free parking should be included. People can’t justify paying parking on top of the membership so take their membership elsewhere (Holmer Park/wye leisure/Alexander park) if parking was included in the halo membership I truly believe they’d get so much more business. So hopefully if we get enough signatures, management will start to concider it.33 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Lindsay Jones

Stop McDonalds using plastic strawsUK McDonalds Resteraunt and takeaways are responsible for Millions of plastic straws being thrown away every week. If they switched to using paper straws for their drinks, it'd be a huge step forward in the fight against the plastic pollution choking our seas. On an average day, 3.5 million people buy a drink in McDonalds- Each drink has a plastic straw. Every straw ever made is still in existence. 😭 Please sign the petition urging McDonalds to stop using plastic straws.135 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Grace Bending

Concert Ticket PricingPeople are being ripped off by ticket touting companies such as Viagogo etc. In September I purchased tickets to see Elbow at Leeds Arena for my partner's 60th birthday gift, as a surprise! I could only find tickets on ticketing websites even though it was only a few day after they went on sale. I ended up paying £304 for 2 tickets with a total face value of £53.50 each! The presence of online ticket tout companies encourages the resale of tickets at vastly inflated prices, this is morally wrong . No doubt the companies involved will say its 'The Market' that determines prices for as we know business has no morals. So I propose to change the law to change the market in favour of reasonable charges and resale prices. Thanks for reading.64 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Phil Ramsden

Schools should change how they view Mental Health issues.Young people have more challenges and issues that arise in comparison with 10 years ago. As a result children are suffering from more serious mental health issues such as depression and anxiety. This is increasing in schools but many schools policies do not reflect the issues this presents. Some schools treat mental illness as if it can be helped or easily cured. This is not the case even after treatment the problem remains for many children. It is unfair to force children out of education if their attendance dips below an average. It is unfair to take parents to court, to threaten them with fines and imprisonment. How does this help the child and the family? It doesn't. It causes the unwell child more anxiety or depression which makes school attendance a bigger issue. Despite providing evidence, ensuring attendance is improved this is the case for many families in the UK. Schools do not view mental health in the same light as any other illness which is outdated and unhelpful. Something needs to change to improve the lives of children that struggle with these issues everyday and the way families are treat by schools. Policy in school needs to change. Attendance issues need to be treated in the same way as other health issues. Punishing children already struggling needs to stop!11 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Amy Mclaughlin

Lancashire County Council withdraws any intention of awarding the contract To Virgin CareThis will cost local Lancashire Health Trusts £2.08mil for a nominal saving. It is important to reduce outsourcing because private providers owe a duty to their shareholders, as well as patients and may therefore seek to hide behind principles of ’commercial confidentiality’. Private providers are not subject to the Freedom of Information law in the same way that NHS organisations are113 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Gina Eastwood

Say NO! to Heathrow Expansion into Stanwell and Stanwell Moor's Open SpacesWe treasure the open land to the north of Stanwell and Stanwell Moor, populated in many places by trees and bushes, which acts as a baffle and carbon sink, and reduces the amount of air pollution and ground noise crossing the short distance from the airport to reach our villages. At times, for some of us, the air can be difficult to breathe due to fumes; imagine what it would be like if Heathrow were allowed to go ahead with their plans to concrete over “Stanwell’s green lungs” in their anticipation of being given the go ahead for the third runway to the north of the airport. North-east Ashford is also affected with plans for a polluted water and sewerage site, and other loss of open land in West Bedfont. Please sign the petition and visit our Facebook Page (Stanwell's Green Lungs) @stanwellsgreenlungs to find out more, or email us on [email protected]308 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Paul Jacobs

Petition for History of Art Dissertation ExtensionIn our final year of study and in the weeks prior to dissertation hand in, we are signing this petition to make our voices heard and request a deadline extension for our undergraduate dissertations. We understand that the UCU strikes and the weather is out of the control of the department, however not only have we not been able to access the books necessary for our dissertation research, but the availability of our tutors has been significantly affected. We have had to work around their striking schedules, which has disrupted our feedback schedules and formative feedback for our other course specific essays. Over the past week especially and over the up and coming weeks of striking, we feel our work has been, and will be greatly affected. With no teaching time, no library, the partial closure of Minto House along with the adverse weather making getting to University difficult, our essays and work schedule will be further disrupted. The School of History, Classics and Archaeology have had their dissertation deadline extended from the 5th of April to the 16th of April 2018, and we very much hope that the History of Art department could do the same. This would allow us more time to continue writing our dissertations, along with the other course specific essays that are due before our dissertation deadline. We understand that these disruptions are not the fault of the History of Art staff, however we have been directed to you as our point of contact regarding this issue. Though many of us wholeheartedly support the UCU industrial action, the disruption this has caused in the weeks leading up to our dissertation hand-in must be acknowledged and taken into consideration. Thank you in advance for your help and we hope for your cooperation and understanding.84 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Elise Bell
