  • Schools in Merseyside are being affected by their budgets right now!
As a student in bootle I can see how our schools our being affected everyday and they are having to make hard decisions to cut things from our school to save money. For example, my school has had to get rid of a reward system recently due to the high cost and the money needing to be spent elsewhere. Therefore this will have a bad affect on students behaviour, causing disruption and not helping within the community either. As well as this I have saw my school cut the numbers of teachers such as 3 geography teachers to 2 even though it gained popularity as a chosen option. Finally, not only teachers are being sacked but subjects are having to be lossed such as food technology, this means students who want a career path towards things like cooking will be made harder as getting onto further courses might require this gcse. This needs to be adressed how our young people are being hindered by money and can not do the career they want to enjoy in the future due to cuts needing to be spent in main subjects which are also struggling.

  • Legally recognise ADUK Dogs as Carers for Direct Payments
These are amazing carers who maintain and promote independence for people who have various and complex care and social needs. Our assistance dogs care for us 24/7 who should be legally recognised by the government and save the government millions a year in care charges. The government needs to offer people the right to be able to claim for these costs to be able to keep us independent and motivated and socialised within the community. The average homecare cost is £200 per week the average cost of an ADUK is about £50 per week. Some more progressive councils allow for these amazing carers to be honoured and covered by a direct payment, whilst other councils take the guideline discriptor of carer ( meaning human ) as literal- this should be addressed to show the change since it was written. It will also help with the crisis in the health and social care situation.

  • Have a Limit on Standing for Workers
Standing for long periods of time at work can cause many health problems, including pain in many areas of the body (such as the back, legs and hips) as well as varicose veins, problems during pregnancy, heart and circulation issues and more. This does not even begin to cover the issues people with existing health conditions may face. More than eleven million workers in the UK are standing for a prolonged period of time, risking their health and unable to take the weight off of their feet.

  • Ban dogs from the playing field (next to the school) - Chudleigh
The green space next to Fore Street Play Park is used by school children throughout the day as well as for recreational use outside of school hours. But the dog mess left on the grass is a constant problem despite it being an area regularly patrolled by the Dog Warden and covered by CCTV. Unfortunately bins and notices fail to make any difference - the people who allow this to happen, do not care. Dog mess carries incredibly toxic bacteria which among other things can cause blindness. To have this space dog free would allow children to play freely without the constant worry of stepping in/falling in dog mess. There are many places dog owners can go to exercise their dogs without using this space. It would not be detrimental to the town, considering the fact that Chudleigh is surrounded by green space, all within a few minutes walk from any where in the town.

  • Penglais Sixth Form Lesson Cuts
Most other schools have 9 sessions per lesson over the course of two weeks, and some have 8, but Penglais only have 7 due to funding. It is important to have at 9 or at least 8 over two weeks as when it comes to exams we will be less prepared than other schools in Wales, and if they score higher marks in the exams, overall we will fall below and not get the results we deserve. The study sessions that have been used as a replacement do not offer the support of the classes to help towards exams
