• Limit the age to 18 for Snapchat users
Our children are our legal responsibility until they reach the age of 18 and from my recent experience I know how much of a negative impact Snapchat can have on our children's lives! Many parents just assume it's silly filters and photos but in reality it's the perfect app for people who don't want to be monitored or for anyone to be able to see any trace of their conversation the disappearance of all communication is a huge red flag as we are unable to monitor what information our children are sharing with each other, not to mention the streaks which see our children obsessed with sending a snap every 24 hours to 100 odd of their friends and the whole world comes to an end if they loose the streak! How can we know what our children are getting up to if the evidence is deleted almost immediately i for one know how hard it is to get the truth out of a teenager who doesn't want her or her friends to get in to any trouble, parents need to educate themselves on what this app is actually doing to our children and sign this petition. Take a stand against cyber bullying and take responsibility of our children.

  • PREVENT PROPOSED MOVE OF BUS STOP OUTSIDE ERIN COURT
There are already a number of issues with the entrance to erin court that have been reported to genesis ha. General public are using this area to urinate as well as using it as a convenient rubbish tip. Erin court residents feel that by relocating the bus stop directly in front of our entrance, it will be used for more of these undesirable activities. Furthermore, we are extemely concerned about our safety and security if plans to move this bus stop go ahead. It will be impossible to determine (especially late at night) who will be legitimately waiting for a bus and who might use this as an opportunity to loiter and unlawfully gain access into erin court, thus creating a risk of burglary or assault to the residents of erin court

  • General election TV debates
It is the media's role to hold politicians to account without bias. Open debates are the best way to achieve this. (image: By Diliff - Own work, CC BY-SA 2.5, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=1634181)

  • Encourage Theresa May to participate in televised election debates
The previous two sets of leader debates on TV were interesting, informative and positive for the democratic process. We want everyone to have the option of potentially benefiting from such debates at this election and prior to all future general election polling days. Not only would we like Theresa May to change her mind and participate in 3 live TV debates, we would also like her to help enshrine the process so all future general elections involve these televised debates. We hear lots about media bias, 'fake news', 'out of touch' politicians and disengagement from the political process. The precedent has been set and Theresa May should endorse and support the process.

  • 'Empty Chair' Theresa May and go ahead with TV debates without her
TV debates have become an important aspect of the lead up to general elections and are incredibly helpful for people who are unsure on what party they would like to represent them over the next 5 years. The debates allow key issues to be discussed and for real people to pose questions they feel need to be addressed, while giving a platform for all major political parties to fairly represent their policies. If the broadcasters decide not to air debates because Theresa May will not participate it would allow one political party (the Conservatives) to dictate whether (or not) such debates happen. The only unbiased option available to broadcasters is to hold the debates regardless of whether she will (or will not) participate, 'empty chairing' her by featuring an empty podium for the Conservative Party if she refuses to take part.

  • We urge for an alliance of Left / Centrist parties in order to win this General Election
Our only chance of creating an alternative to another full term of cuts, privatisation and the destruction of the NHS is to unite the left under a coalition government.

  • Ensure ALL British citizens, including expatriates can vote
Democracy was not respected in the referendum of June 23rd 2016 and left thousands of British citizens without a voice. British citizens who had left the United Kingdom more than 15 years ago were not allowed to vote in a referendum that affected their lives greatly. This must not happen again. Those British citizens must have a voice in the General Election on June 8th 2017.

  • Don't Let Housing Developers In Manchester Cheat Their Way Out Of Building Affordable Housing
Current planning law states that if a developer will make less than 20% profit on a new development, they can ignore a council's regulations about building affordable and social housing. Leaked documents from several developers have shown that the maths they use to work out their profit margins are purposefully misleading, allowing them to claim they will make less than 20% profit on a development by undervaluing the prices of the houses they will sell and over-costing the labour. To combat this Islington, Greenwich, Lambeth and Bristol councils have introduced a policy that forces developers "viability assessments" to be made public. By bringing these dodgy maths into the public domain, Councils, campaigning groups and individuals will be able to hold developers to account and force them to use more honest maths. Manchester has a real problem with housing. If you go out on any day in Manchester you will encounter a large number of people who have been forced to sleep on the streets. The number of homeless people is growing every day and lack of affordable housing is a large part of that. But this doesn't just affect them. More affordable housing will help slow the rise of house prices in ever budget. This is a crisis that affects EVERYONE Notes: [1] Current government policy says that developers can expect to make 20% profit on housing they build. That means that if a developer would make 19% profit on a development that included affordable housing, the developer doesn’t have to build any affordable houses. But because of competition laws these reports can be made secret meaning developers have free reign to manipulate the figures in their favour.
