• Jess Lawson - Colourful Bench
Jess Lawson from Wolfreton school, Willerby went on a school trip and never came home, she was 12 years old at the time. The Kirkella and Westella Parish Council have turned down a request for a colourful bench to be placed on the corner of School Lane opposite St. Andrews School in Kirkella for reasons as stated by Margaret Raymond, "It may make it look like Disney land" I say why not? Jess was colourful and no one should ever wave goodbye to their child and not see them again. The existing bench is broken to add insult to injury. ! Please add your support and let's get the family what they deserve. Thank you.

  • Ban diesel cars and vans within Sheffield City Centre like Paris by 2025!
To fundamentally cut CO2 emissions within central Sheffield. To prevent deaths from air pollution which diesel car pollution is a major factor. “Soot from diesel vehicles is among the big contributors to ill health and global warming,” added Helena Molin Valdés, head of the United Nations’ climate and clean air coalition, noting that more than nine out of 10 people around the globe live where air pollution exceeds World Health Organisation safety limits. Diesel fuel use is a key cause of air pollution in cities, as the engines produce nitrogen dioxide, a harmful gas, and tiny particulates that can lodge in the lungs. These forms of pollution can also interact with other substances to create, in some conditions, a toxic soup. Fiona Harvey The Guardian 2/12/2016

  • Find Appropriate Housing for Bobby Carver
Robert Carver urgently needs your assistance. He is a paraplegic with no use or feeling in either of his legs alongside numerous debilitating conditions including, fibromyalgia and colitis. Despite his severely debilitated condition, Brighton & Hove City Council are refusing to provide him with appropriate housing, causing him daily pain. For the past two years, Bobby has been unable to walk or use his legs. Through complete negligence on the part of Brighton and Hove Council, he is still housed in a second floor, temporary-accommodation flat, with a steep and narrow staircase, which is totally unsuitable for his needs. His social worker and many council professionals have witnessed, first-hand, that he has to lower himself down these stairs using only his arms, causing him to fall regularly. Bobby’s flat is also tiny, cramped and none of the doorways are suitable for wheelchairs. Because of this, he has to pull himself around on the floor, dragging his legs behind him, causing his body yet more damage every day. I am hoping to pressure Brighton and Hove City Council into providing the housing that Bobby should be getting already without a fight. For more information on Bobby’s fight please read the following article and watch the ITV piece below: http://www.itv.com/news/meridian/update/2016-10-12/helpless-prisoner-in-top-floor-flat/ https://brightonandhovehousingcrisis.wordpress.com/2016/11/18/perfectly-acceptable-in-brighton-hove/

  • Presumed Consent Donor Law for England
From NHS information, despite some gains in organ transplant consent, the UK still has one of the lowest rates of consent (authorisation in Scotland) in Europe. A Presumed Consent Law has been brought in in Wales and resulted in more transplants. A Presumed Consent Law would still allow people to choose not to have their organs used, but it would increase the number of organs available for doctors to save more lives. In bringing in a Presumed Consent Law to England we would actually be protecting ourselves and our loved ones in the future, should a transplant ever be needed. It would also bring to the forefront the importance of organ donation to the nation as a whole and hopefully make the situation easier on the families of the deceased.According to NHS Blood and Transplant, family refusal is the biggest obstacle to donation. However, many families would gain from knowing that their own loss of a loved one has benefited others by giving those on the donor list and their families an improved or longer life. ref:https://www.organdonation.nhs.uk/news-and-campaigns/news/highest-number-of-organ-transplants-ever-across-uk-but-many-families-still-say-no-to-donation/

  • New service provider for the 90 bus route
Hundreds of commuters use this bus service from Northolt and are fed up with the current service provider Metroline because the quality of service has been poor for a number of years. Single deckers have been used at busy times (when they are only meant to be using double Deckers), drivers driving erratically, using old buses and buses not coming for at least 20mins most of the time. As well as this buses have been terminating at Yeading lane at busy periods such as in the mornings and in the afternoon rush hour. Many complaints have been made to Metroline and tfl, but there have been no further improvements. Abellio (London & Surrey) currently runs the E9 bus route between Ealing Broadway and Yeading Barnhill Estate from which they have taken over from Metroline, since doing so I feel that the service has dramatically improved, which is why I feel they would be the best company to take over the route. In addition to this Abellio (London & Surrey) already has a garage in Hayes, which the bus route 90 passes through. The reason I am asking for new buses is due to the fact the the old buses currently used are causing a nuisance especially on Kingshill Avenue as the old buses are very loud and they cause vibrations on the road which causes cracks to appear in houses (including mine).

  • Make Employee Representation on Company Boards Law
Dear Theresa May, Please can you help UK industry and their Employees to have greater Success, Collaboration, Flexibility, Security and Speed of Business Decisions by ensuring we have Full Employee Representation in the Boardroom. Success • Throughout Europe the most successful companies have Employee Representation directly engaging with the company by participating in board meetings. • Company success is aided not hindered by Employee Representation. Collaboration • Employee board Representation leads to collaboration and avoids industrial disputes. • It is truly a Win-Win situation. • Collaboration between the board and the employees removes many elements of the current "them and us" attitude of UK companies that often leads to outcomes that neither the company nor employees want. Flexibility • Employee board representatives are very often more creative and flexible with their demands. Knowing the challenges facing a company they will often ask for improved investment or help develop restructuring proposals instead of a pay rise knowing that this will help the company. • Currently unions predominantly campaign for increased salaries as they have no insights to the company pressures and direction. Security • In the light of Brexit it is now more important than ever that Employee board representatives are able to work with management to ensure operations are not moved off-shore without a meaningful set of discussions.. • Flexible Employee Responses can be worked on to enhance job security. Speed of Business Decisions • Employee board representatives participating in board meeting discussions are able to formulate responses ahead of a hard company decisions. This means that consultation occurs before a hard decision is publicly declared and prevents company back tracking and face saving that wastes time and effort.

  • Ban Supermarkets From Throwing Away Unused Food
France has become the first country in the world to ban supermarkets from throwing away or destroying unsold food, forcing them instead to donate it to charities and food banks. There is food banks in most towns and cities across the UK and like France the wasted food could be donated to them. Almost 50% of total amount of food thrown away in the UK comes from our home. We throw away 7 million tonnes of food and drink from our homes every year in the UK, and more than half of this food and drink we could've eaten and this 7 million tonnes of food wasted is equal to over £17,000,000,000 of worth of food each year, yes you heard me £17,000,000,000 which could be all given to those in need. It is also terrible for the enviroment. It takes a land mass larger than China to grow the food each year that is ultimately never eaten – land that has been deforested, species that have been driven to extinction, indigenous populations that have been moved, soil that has been degraded – all to produce food that we then just throw away. In addition, food that is never eaten accounts for 25% of all fresh water consumption globally. Gulp. Not only are all of the resources that went into creating the uneaten food wasted (land, water, labour, energy, manufacturing, packaging, etc), but when food waste goes to landfill, which is where the vast majority of it ends up, it decomposes without access to oxygen and creates methane, which is 23x more deadly than carbon dioxide. Every which way you look at it food waste is a major culprit in destroying our planet, and in fact if food waste were a country, it would be the third largest emitter of greenhouse gases after China and the USA. Millions upon millions people are starving every year all around the world and we all will be affected by global warming, that's over 7,00,000,000 people! Saving these unused foods can resolve this problem immensely.
