• Increase spending NOW on health and social care to a minimum of 10.6%GDP
The NHS is the embodiment of British values, free healthcare to all at the point of access. Social Care is entwined in healthcare. We need to stop the collapse of the NHS and the Social Care system now, and the only way we can do this is by putting enough money into the system to allow it to work. Telling the local councils to raise money through local taxes is not enough. This is a national problem for a national service, and it needs more money raised through taxes.

  • Urinary Tract Infections tested for and prescribed for by a pharmacist instead of a GP.
It saves the patient the hassle of waiting for an appointment or call back from the GP for a prescription of antibiotics. This would also save the NHS the cost and time of a GP testing and prescribing for a UTI. Many who have suffered a UTI before know and understand the symptoms but can end up painfully waiting to be treated. Balancing work, family commitments and your health can be difficult and is made more difficult when worrying about missing the call back from the GP or making sure you get your prescription into the pharmacy before closing. A UTI can be very debilitating and this could be dramatically improved by allowing patients antibiotic prescription treatment over the counter.

  • Ask ODEON Cinemas to end their partnership with The Sun newspaper
The Sun newspaper is a publication that spreads Islamophobic, xenophobic and homophobic rhetoric. In Sunday 11th December 2016's edition of 'The Sun on Sunday', an image was published with the heading 'cut out and keep guide - this is what terrorists look like'. The illustration implies that any member of the British public who fits the description of those in the image should be regarded as a terrorist and treated as such. This is not only grossly irresponsible and totally incorrect, but is actively promoting racial and religious discrimination. ODEON cinemas advertise ticket offers in the Sun newspaper and provide free copies of the Sun for their customers, allowing their cinemas to become places that carry and nurture these wholly inaccurate and reckless attitudes. We would like to ask ODEON Cinemas Limited to consider severing their association with the Sun in order to: 1) prevent the spreading of hate on the grounds of religious belief and ethnic/racial background 2) ensure that ALL customers can enjoy films in a safe environment where NO-ONE has to feel that they are under threat because of their heritage or beliefs 3) encourage diversity within the arts and to continue to allow cinema to be accessible for all

  • Refuse to approve Footprint 15 STP until councillors have time to receive independant advice
We already know that the STP suggests over 12% of beds being cut, closure of the General hospital, maternity services and community hospitals. If hospital beds are cut without investment in social care, district nursing, mental health care and General Practice then the pressure on the costs of running these services will result in poorer care for the local community. These changes threaten to create NHS job losses when the service is already understaffed, increase local unemployment, and restricts choice and accessibility for patients. It will also place a greater reliance on family members to care for sick relatives at home. It is important that no further pressures are put on social care and that the community are properly consulted on changes to their National Health Service.

  • Make restaurants list nutritional information in their menus
I'll give an example; A type 1 Diabetic who counts carbohydrates in the food they eat have to guess the carb content when the waiter brings the meal to the table by the size of the meal then administer insulin accordingly. If the carb content was listed on the menu this would help so much, as guessing the carb content could lead to injecting too much insulin thus the person suffers a hypo where the glucose levels drop and can be dangerous and can hospitalise that person

  • Opposition of the proposed English language test and fees for all private hire drivers
However the proposed English language test for the all private hire drivers has not been properly consulted on, offers insufficient transitional arrangement and lack of support to existing drivers to meet the requirement. We call upon the mayor to withdraw the policy pending further consultation, improved transitional arrangement and full support to those existing drivers required to obtain formal qualifications.
