• Protection for Airport Passenger valuables at Security.
Airport Security scanning is recognised as an essential part of safety for passengers. It is also a ‘Mandatory’ process. All Passengers must place their valuables in multiple trays on conveyer belts and they do so trusting that their belongings will be safe in the Security Processes. It is reasonable that they should believe this, as there is no alternative and one can refuse security scans if they want to fly, and rightly so. However, this is not a voluntary process. It is enforced. Therefore, it should be mandatory that all Security staff ensure all items are protected and controlled during the whole checking process, then safely returned to their owners. Passengers do not expect their items to be at risk of theft when they place these items into the trays and into the hands of the Security staff. Nor do passengers feel they can challenge anyone if, in all too frequent situations of peak passenger flow, they suspect these items will be at risk by complying to these regulations. It is wholy unfair and unacceptable that this is happening and is causing undue stress for passengers and it is an open invitation to criminals. As seen in current media articles. These items should be safe and the current process unacceptable.

  • Save Seven Hills swimming pool
Seven Hills pool has only been open for 5 years & is unique in its offering, catering for the children of Sheffield & surrounding areas who have SEN needs. Their hydropool is one of few in the area & very important to the children that use it, helping with movement & pain relief. The pool also offers swimming lessons to children locally & is well used. Following talks with the local council, Seven Hills school propose to close this important facility to replace it with a gym which would be of very little use to the children. They state they cannot afford to keep the pool even though the swim school have offered to contribute financially & make up any difference. Please help us save our swimming pool.

  • Boots to pay staff in London the London Living Wage
I have spoken to many Boots UK staff, who are all struggling to pay their bills from month to month. I think it is awful that members of staff who work 37.5 hours a week, are in a position where they are struggling to pay basic bills. Some even have to go to food banks to support their families. This needs to change. Staff members who currently work in London get approximately £3000 less than the London living wage a year. Based on the 2016-2017 Government figures for social housing in London, this equals to around 26 weeks rent. This is half a year's rent that staff are having to find by making cuts to their already tight budgets.

  • Keep NORTH WARKS ONLY Emergency Responce car and not reliant upon community volunteers.
This is the ONLY first response car. We have a voluntary community response who.will still remain. However this is still a reduction from our community and we will be dependant upon the community voluntary responder . The time for a first responder to get to north warwickshire residents is crucial . It takes over 20 mins to get to us from lichfield. This is the same if not more.from coventry and at least 10 to 15 mins from nuneaton. Cost should not.come into saving lives. If its about saving on rent for building then let the responder be based at the fire station. If this is passed we will be reliant on the community voluntary responder.

  • We want Lincolnshire County Council to cut all our grass.
We pay Council Tax to have ALL of the grass in public areas cut, it’s been the same arrangement year-on-year; until this year. This year, Lincolnshire County Council (LCC) are trying to pass ‘non-essential’ grass cutting onto Stamford Town Council. As a result you will pay TWICE for grass cutting. Let’s let LCC know this isn’t on and stop similar stealth taxes being introduced. #LCC transparency

  • Oppose further attempts to privatise the NHS
The board of the Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust, which manages Pinderfields, Dewsbury and Pontefract Hospitals, approved plans to create a 'Wholly Owned Subsidiary;' effectively a private company owned by the Trust. Essentially, staff and services currently provided in-house such as, Facilities and Estates, will be 'outsourced' to this new arms-length company in a bid to save money. The Trust claims that money will be saved by exploiting a tax loophole. However, the Trusts CEO has given no guarantees that wages, conditions and pensions of current NHS staff will not be affected and it seems likely that the main savings will come from employing new staff on non-NHS terms and conditions with no access to the NHS Pension Scheme, creating a two-tier workforce. This is a form of backdoor privatisation that will have direct consequences on health workers and could potentially affect patient care and service delivery. Why is it that honest, hard-working people, always seem to pay the price? NHS Staff are valued members of our community, they are our neighbours, our friends and our colleagues, who dedicate their lives to helping others. After years of increased workloads and understaffing due to Austerity and nurses using foodbanks due to the pay cap, this latest threat to jobs is their 'reward'. The Mid Yorkshire Unison Health Branch is due to ballot their members for Industrial Action in a bid to protect jobs. The Wakefield Constituency Labour Party believe NHS Workers deserve better than this, especially at a time where there is a need for higher wages and better conditions. We will be standing with Unison members in this fight and we would like to call on your support in opposing these plans.

  • Let Satheesh Sankara Gounder stay in the UK
The Home Office have refused to extend the visa of Dover's only private physiotherapist, the best we have ever had, on the grounds that he cannot prove investment of minimum £50,000 in the UK and because he has been unable to employ a second full-time member of staff. He and his accountant have submitted proof that he has invested, and he has advertised continually for the past two years trying to find a second physiotherapist. None want to come and work in SE England, preferring London and its big money. Had this physio chosen to work in London a second physio would have been easy to find and his visa would have been certain once the investment issue was resolved. But he chose to fill the gaping hole in physiotherapy treatment in Dover and has been punished for it. The Home Office have ignored the evidence of his employee search. His receptionist now faces unemployment, the taxes and business taxes he pays will be lost to the country, and Dover will be deprived of private physiotherapy cover. His contracts with 24 insurance companies, Sussex Police and The Department of Work and Pensions in Hastings, another physiotherapy deprived area where he holds a weekly clinic, will have to get by without him if the decision is not rescinded. We have a government, it appears, that do not care about the physiotherapy needs of Dover where the NHS is already unable to cope in this field. Dover's MP is supportive and fighting the physio's case with the Home Office but publicity and more letters of support to the Home Office are needed. This petition seeks to ensure Satheesh can continue to provide his wonderful skills to Dover and its surrounding area.

  • Save M&S Newmarket
It is vital the store remains because many elderly people without access or an understanding of modern technology live in the town and for them this is one of their main suppliers of basic groceries like bread and milk. When I was younger, my grandmother would buy me my favourite treats from M&S; therefore it too holds a special place in my heart. This is why it is so important the store must remain open!

  • Save Rose Cottage flower border
I am writing this petition for my elderly mum who is nearly 93, she lives in a small historic cottage in the village of Dalton Piercy dating back to 1750 that is a listed building. In front of the cottage is a very pretty small border of roses and flowers that looks fantastic. It was in situ when the house was purchased in 1967 We have recently received a letter from the local Parish Council giving us 14 days to remove all flowers and roses otherwise they will employ a contractor to do it and charge us. The reason given is that the border is on registered green This seems very unfair, as other houses adjacent the green appear to have small areas of garden or other encroachments that also appear to be on registered village green My mother is housebound and in deteriorating health, the house and flowers have been her pride and joy for 50 years. The threat of the needless destruction of such a pretty flower border is causing her huge distress and anxiety.

  • Stop Royal Free nurses' home being turned into luxury flats
Health workers get paid so little, they work long frequently unsociable hours. They need to be able to afford to live near where they work so they don’t have to add huge travel time and costs to their daily life. Our lives are literally in these people’s hands and we need to give them the respect that they clearly deserve and one way we can show this respect is to let them have affordable housing. The house prices in Camden are extremely high, we have a huge amount of very expensive housing already. The average house price in this area is over a million pounds and the average London wage for a nurse is only £24,963. How on earth are the backbone of our health service supposed to afford to live anywhere near where they work? Affordable nurses housing should be sacrosanct. The Royal Free London NHS foundation and Camden council need to backtrack on these plans as a matter of urgency. https://www.theguardian.com/business/2018/may/18/royal-free-secretly-planning-to-develop-100-year-old-hospital-into-luxury-flats?utm_source=&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=blast2018-05-22

  • Darlaston Inn ‘inappropriate’ development
This well known spot deserves a more well thought through development. The Market town of Stone needs more independent businesses to bring sites like these back to life, to bring local people together. It does not need a corporate ‘service station’. Several planning issues are associated with this proposed development. - The property is in Green belt, and the over development will impact the openness which is unacceptable. - It adjoins a conservation area, so again is highly inappropriate - Road safety issues, multi stop, fast transactions from the centre of a busy roundabout. Will causes accidents and near misses for sure. - Environmental impact due to increased litter from the site itself, and from cars leaving the site. There are also light pollution issues during the evening on local residents. - Local economy, there are already two petrol stations within 1 mile (one within 1/2 a mile) and that excludes Morrisions. On top of the financial impact on those petrol stations, the council should be encouraging people to eat on Stone High street within local independent eateries that support local people. As is the policy! Support local businesses, not service station eye sores with drive thru take always.
