• Stop plans to close Clacton on Sea's Minor Injuries Unit
North East Essex CCG are trying to shut down the Minor Injuries Unit which is situated at Clacton Hospital. This would mean that patients wanting to see a doctor, or needing urgent medical care, would have to travel to Colchester. Clacton's population is increasing and health services in the town are already suffering. GPs surgeries are not able to cope with their workload now, it is unthinkable that we may now lose the valuable service that our Minor Injuries Unit provides. This area has a large elderly population along with a large percentage of vulnerable people with mental health issues. It is not acceptable that elderly and vulnerable people have to travel to Colchester. Many people do not have their own transport and would not be able to afford to take public transport to Colchester to see a doctor. We have to stop this closure! This petition has been launched by TenPAG, Tendring Pensioners Action Group

  • For Freedom of Movement
Freedom of movement gives every one of us the opportunity to travel, work and build lives in other countries. The rich have always had the possibility of migration, Freedom of Movement opens those doors to all of us. All of our wages and working conditions should be guaranteed by MPs, no matter where we come from. Meanwhile, we recognise that the people who have come from all over Europe to make the UK their home have enriched our country in every sense. We do not recognise and totally reject the xenophobic lies that have whipped up xenophobia in this country, leading to many of them feeling unwelcome, and some becoming the victims of despicable hate crimes.

  • Don't Fine People for begging in Wandsworth
The idea of fining those who already have so little, that they are forced to sleep out in the cold or ask for food and money is a cruel and heartless act. This is attacking vulnerable people and does not resolve the issues homeless people face. Other campaigns have successfully stopped other councils from imposing similar fines. This campaign is based on this information from the council's website: http://www.wandsworth.gov.uk/news/article/13685/comment_on_proposals_to_tackle_begging_and_street_drinking_in_tooting If you have anything that suggests that this council are no longer able to fine people for begging then we'd love to hear more from you, drop us an email at [email protected]

  • Ban the import of horse hormones serum
Wild horses are and have been rounded up for exploitative use of their blood for around thirty years. This horrible news as recently come to light through under cover actions, it had been hidden from the public and its little wonder why. The wild horses are rounded up taken to "blood farms" hooked up to machinery , where their blood is extracted, there is a hormone which is then extracted from that and sold to Pharmaceutical companies, who in turn sell it to pig farmers here. This is a multi million industry. There are no rules or regulations in place to stop the horses being taken or to regulate the welfare of these horses while at these farms, many literally are bled to death. Even worse the pregnant mare as the more potent hormone (Gonadotropin) which is extracted during the early stages of pregnancy, the hormone is used in intensive farming of pigs and other farm animals to keep them in heat. And on top of that 20 per cent of the new born piglets are destroyed as the mother does not have enough teats to feed them all. All of this is completely criminal , unnatural, and unsustainable. The horses that are kept alive for further extraction are suffering a horrible existence. If we don't speak up about it and do something, we will have a huge Equine crisis on our hands as well as the continued issue of intensive farming .

  • Don't fine the homeless of Exeter for begging.
Exeter Council are handing out fines to people who beg for food or money from strangers. It’s an attempt to sweep homelessness and begging out of the area, but it could mean people sleeping on the streets over winter face fines they can’t afford. These people need support, like shelters and access to food and advice, not fines for asking for money. Fining them will not solve the problem of homelessness, it will divide us even further. Edit: In an effort to be transparent please read the following: It has been brought to my attention that this new public spaces protection order(PSPO) is not set to be decided until the end of February, if we can stop it from happening in the first place that would be amazing. Also, the PSPO specifically targets 'aggressive' begging, which is described as begging near a cash point or approaching people directly. A link to this information is below: https://cllrpaul4cowick.wordpress.com/category/pspo/ I personally do not know how different officers will enforce this, or how subjective 'aggressive' is. I do not mind being approached for money, however you may feel differently. The link to the information I was originally presented with is here: http://m.exeterexpressandecho.co.uk/could-you-be-in-trouble-under-exeter-8217-s-public-spaces-protection-order/story-30027760-detail/story.html Thank you, Ella

  • Save the South End Green Toilets
Firstly they are the only public amenities in the area. Without them the only public toilets are in the Royal Free Hospital. Secondly they are historic as they are Victorian with marble urinals and wash basins. Thirdly their closure could result in more people urinating in the streets.

  • Stop Morrisons encouraging childhood obesity
It is hard enough to get children to understand the health risks of high sugar foods without Morrisons trying to persuade children that these cereals are ones that they SHOULD have for breakfast. Morrisons should take a more responsible attitude to the health of the nations children.

  • Blackpool: Fining the Homeless for begging
Blackpool Council are already handing out fines to people sleeping rough on the streets, this petition is here to stop them. At least 90 penalties have been handed out so far according to a Freedom of Information request. Fines can be up to £100 according to the Council's website https://www.blackpool.gov.uk/Residents/Planning-environment-and-community/Crime-and-safety/Public-Space-Protection-Orders.aspx If we get over 1500 signatures we can trigger a council debate. Being homeless isn’t a crime and they shouldn’t be fined for not having a home. Targeting those with nothing to pay nonsensical fines is a crime itself. The council are leaving our most vulnerable even further out of reach of help, these people can’t afford food and don’t have a decent place to sleep at night, fining them isn’t going to help the situation. It then becomes our responsibility to do the right thing and stop these awful fines from continuing in our town. This campaign is based on this information from Blackpool council's website: https://www.blackpool.gov.uk/Residents/Planning-environment-and-community/Crime-and-safety/Public-Space-Protection-Orders.aspx If you have anything that suggests that Blackpool Council are no longer able to fine people for begging then we'd love to hear more from you, drop us an email at [email protected]

  • Save Live Overnight Radio on Radio 2
Recent announcements have brought to an end live overnight broadcasting on Radio 2. This is a slap in the face to the 24 hour a day society who listen into Radio 2 through out the night. The statement from Radio 2 is disingenuous and treats the listener as a child. Quite simply we want the decision reversed and live broadcasting of the After Midnight Strand reinstated The BBC is supposed to BROADCAST to the nation and this is a retreat from this position, the listener has not been consulted and this is being presented as an improvement....

  • Save Tempest Wood
I planted this wood at the edge of Brampton Ash, near Market Harborough 6 years ago and it is thriving with wildlife. Some trees are now 30 foot high and there are field mice, hares, rabbits, badgers, hawks and Muntjac. It may be a small wood, but it is a living, precious eco system that should be protected at a time when every tree counts. Please save Tempest Wood. Thank you.
