Allow parents of apprentices to continue claiming Child Benefit and Universal CreditsI contacted Universal Credit through my journal in March 2021 to say that my son had started an apprenticeship. Being an Electrician course he has to gain experience and knowledge in the workplace as he cannot do it in the classroom. It is essential for him to gain his qualification. I was told that he had been verified as a child and in full time education. I tried to clarify the situation as he was being paid. Due to my journal entries not being read for long periods I phoned. This is very stressful for me as I had emergency brain surgery following an accident and am still in recovery. They said it was a grey area. I was very surprised to hear this and wondered what I should do. I was told if he was with an approved trainer working towards a qualification I would still receive payments for him. I had a letter from his training provider to back up his situation and details of the college course. DWP refused to accept see it. After 5 months DWP say he is classed as working. He earns £4.30 an hour and has to buy his own tools as well as travelling to college where he does relevant work towards his level 3 qualification as an Electrician. In my eyes and many others he is not independent. He cannot live on the money he receives. He is dependant on me. I have been asked to pay back £1128. I see this as a major error of the DWP. I tried to clarify the situation. It is all in my journal. I have a letter from his trainer and details of the course he is doing. As an electrician, the practical side cannot be done in a classroom. Being onsite with qualified electricians is vital. This leaves me as a single parent in a very difficult situation. I cannot work due to my injury. I will lose the child element in my Universal Credits, Child Benefit and the Covid payment. I want my son to continue his apprenticeship. I believe there is a shortage of trades people. I have worked all my life, paid taxes and NI. Now I need support in getting my son through his apprenticeship. Please support me in claiming the money I need to do this. There are many families in the same situation who simply cannot afford to put their child through an apprenticeship as all benefits stop.2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Helen Grenham

Afghan refugees must be sent to YorkYork has a long history of accepting refugees, and York will continue to do so with pride. This chance has a significant impact on the lives of poor Afghans in need of home and safety. We shall extend a northern welcome to these Afghans and work to demonstrate that a different future is possible in the days and years ahead, one free of war and one of peace.12 of 100 SignaturesCreated by William Gomes

Could YOU afford to lose £86 a month?Despite Brexit and COVID-19, we still live in one of the richest countries in the world. So, it is truly disgraceful that an increasing number of people are being forced to choose between paying energy bills and food. Food banks are not the solution! While they have done an enormous amount of good work feeding those who need it the most, their existence cannot be justified as long as the government is happy to spend tax payers' money on £300,000 flat refurbishments and 'vanity projects' like HS2, a project which even traditional Conservative voters don't want! Moreover, there are sufficient funds in National Insurance contributions to pay for this much-needed increase in Universal Credit. Many of those claiming Universal Credit contributed to that fund. So, why is it not being used to fund the very things National Insurance was designed to prevent?11 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Kerry McDaid

Cottingham SkateparkWe truly believe that a skatepark in the village will give children, teens and parents a place to gather and bond over a passion or potential interest in skating or bmx. Currently, we have 3 play parks and none of them are suitable for the needs of older children. They are for younger children yet as older children have no where else to go, the equipment is taken over by older kids. My 2 year old often will not play as ‘big kids’ are on the play equipment. We need a space in the village that is designed to entertain our older children. They need an outlet that is designed for them and there needs; Somewhere they can learn new skills and challenge themselves. A skate park is exactly that. It caters for skate, bmx & rollerblading. All of which are sports that help develop balance, determination, stamina and resilience. It also encourage team spirit and a sense of belonging. If you pull off a trick you have been working on for some time, the whole park is elated! We are guilty in cottingham of caring only about our elders but it is our children who need more of a place in the community. Let’s give them what they need, want and deserve. I want to see my children thrive and have fun in my village, not in someone else’s.6 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Caroline Nicholson

Free school transportIt’s important because we want our children to have a Welsh education but you are throwing obstacles in our way making us doubt choosing our schools.£130.20 for a child upfront is a lot of money, some people have 2/3/4 children and are still being made to pay this cost per child. It’s a 30 minute walk and the route is not a safe one for young children to get to school safely.326 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Georgia Cartwright
