• Stop dementia care costs
A year ago after 2 years of looking after elderly parents who required more support and care as time went on I retired early in 2020 to care for them more. Dad had vascular dementia and physical health problems diagnosed in 2017. And after this mums health gradually deteriorated. Mum was diagnosed with cancer in April 2000. Both of them deteriorated further until we were exhausted looking after them. Both moved into a residential/dementia home in June last year. We are not a rich family by any means mum worked as a school cleaner and dad was in the merchant navy but during the war went to work down the mines where he worked until he retired. But because he saved and did without many things as he wanted to leave a small some of money to his family in his will. This put them above the threshold of £23,000 meaning he would have to pay for all his own care home fees, despite having lots of physical problems after years working down mines that probably led to or exacerbated vascular problems leading to his dementia. We found out that mums continuing care would be paid for but dad’s would not and his continuing care would be classed as social care needs. This makes no sense to me when both mums physical illness and dad’s physical illness both led to both of them needing more social care and health care. Sadly we lost mum last June and because of the pandemic she died alone in hospital as we were unable to visit her this was traumatic and is still very upsetting when I think about it. If Dad did not have the physical diagnosis and health problems he would be able to see to his own social care. But his inability now to be able to dress and feed himself is the result of his physical problem. Just as mums cancer led her to unable to look after herself. So why is there a difference in funding care? This is unfair and surely under human rights and equal rights both mum and dad should have the same access to funding their care. This government promised to fix health and social care funding and with a small health insurance increase of about 2 pence per person on wages of each worker. And following the Dilnot report recommendation we could have a fully funded health and social care system to be proud of. Now I am asking Boris and his government to for once take a strong lead and sort this problem. Our elderly and disabled and vulnerable have been let down long enough now and this has been greatly exposed during this pandemic. Dementia is a growing concern and as people live longer more and more are being diagnosed without any cure in sight. Most people fear dementia more than any other illness. It would be less frightening if we had great dementia care fully funded. Research is needed to find a cure and ways to reduce the disability caused by this condition. Families require support to keep loved ones as independent as possible for as long as possible in their own homes.

  • UNPAID CARERS
This could make such a lot of difference to help take the pressure off. Some people find this role a tough one juggling everything. We are a tough reliant group and carry on regardless. We never complain but we seem to have been forgotten.

  • Open the Covid-19 Public Inquiry With Immediate Effect
In the light of various allegations made recently, coupled with speculation already mooted on Social Media and Main Stream Media, together with the appalling behaviour of the former Health Secretary, this has now left the general public with a total loss of confidence that an Inquiry some time in the future will be open and transparent. The Covid-19 Pandemic has profoundly affected all aspects of people's lives and resulted in over 125,000 extremely traumatic deaths. Businesses have been descimated. Care Home residents abandoned by the Government. Education has been severely disrupted. The Pandemic is something no government has had to deal with for over 100 years and it is now paramount that the general public see and hear what lessons could be learned from how the Government has dealt with all aspects of keeping us safe, including how [wisely] taxpayers money has been spent in appropriating PPE, hospital equipment, mental health provisions etc. Leonardo da Vinci once said "Nothing strengthens authority so much as silence" WE WILL NO LONGER BE SILENT.

  • NO MORE BEDROOM TAX!
The reduction has caused residents to suffer a lower quality of life, with less weekly budget it has resulted in occupants: - Having inadequate central heating. - Not being able to afford a feasible amount of food. - Suffering a drop in mental health due to stress. - Entering rent arrears Two thirds of those affected by the 'Bedroom Tax' collected some from of disability benefits. Demonstrating that the policy directly effects those that require a support not an extra tax that is out of their control! Please sign this petition in order to get this damaging policy abolished!

  • Increase Funding from central government to Cheshire East Council
We are particularly concerned about road maintenance and the closure of Congleton’s Household Waste & Recycling Centre. We acknowledge that funding grants from central government to local authorities has DECREASED BY OVER HALF since 2010. Cheshire East Council does its utmost to support those with the greatest need, however year on year cuts mean that services must evolve to adapt to the funding it receives. Without more funding the loss of some services and a deterioration of road standards are inevitable.

  • Justice for Sexual Assault Victims
This is so wrong as it leaves the victim feeling defeated, angry and that justice wasn't served! This will have a detrimental effect on their mental health and recovery. Furthermore, it leaves thousands of people at risk because the perpetrator is free to recidivise!

  • Right to receive full eye test prescription so you can use online companies
Most spectacle users knows that they can ask their opticians for a copy of their prescription enabling them to buy their glasses anywhere, another opticians or a much cheaper online company. Well, I say this, but it is only if you have single vision lenses. Did you know that if you have varifocals, you are able to take your prescription to any high street opticians but you can't make use of online services as a key measurement is missed off of the prescription! This means when you go to another opticians, this measurement will be taken so that the correct glasses are ordered. Obviously, online companies cannot take this measurement and if you tried to do it yourself at home, it might not be completely accurate. So, this means, that varifocal users are being unfairly financially penalised and discriminated against as they can't take advantage of much cheaper online options.

  • NHS to Give IVF twice
As amazing as it is the NHS already give us one chance, I feel This is important because so many people now seem to have some trouble with conceiving as many more women have got infertility problems. This can be such things as Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, Endometriosis, which effect 1/10 women. Having 1 lot of IVF puts a lot of strain on a woman and not only the whole lm time worrying about being pregnant but a women’s stress levels double which also can cause women to miscarry or not conceive that time. I feel if women knew they have 2 chances it would take a lot of strain off us women. It costs couples thousands of pounds to go through IVF each and every time and not only if the 1st one fails it then makes it difficult for a couple to keep going through it day to day, thinking they might not ever have them, working so hard to get the money for a second try. I have seen people not have any children because it’s wore at their relationship. I know this isnt cost effective but I know it would help with so many relationships and hope to be families. I never realised how many people struggle daily with not being able to have a family.
