dog parks glasgowHi there my name is Michael I'm a Glasgow based dog photographer for many years, here's some of my thoughts on why we need dog parks in Glasgow Many behaviour problems in dogs are caused by a lack of physical and mental activity. Dogs were born to lead active lives. They’ve worked alongside people for thousands of years, hunting game, herding and protecting livestock, and controlling vermin. Dogs’ wild relatives lead busy lives, too. Their days are full of hunting, scavenging, avoiding predators and complex social interaction. Most pet dogs, on the other hand, spend the majority of their time alone at home, napping on couches and eating food from bowl ,no hunting or scavenging required. Many become bored, lonely and overweight. They have excess energy and no way to expend it, so it’s not surprising that they often come up with activities on their own, like unstuffing couches, raiding trash cans and gnawing on shoes. To keep your dog happy, healthy and out of trouble, you’ll need to find ways to exercise the dogs brain and body. visits to your local dog Park in Glasgow can greatly enrich you're dogs life. Benefits of going to the dog park include: Physical and mental exercise for dogs Your dog can zoom around off-leash to her heart’s content, investigate new smells, wrestle with her dog buddies and fetch toys until they happily collapse. Many dogs are so mentally and physically exhausted by a trip to the dog park that they snooze for hours afterwards. Opportunities to maintain social skills Dogs are like us, highly social animals, and many enjoy spending time with their own species. At the dog park, your dog gets practice reading a variety of other dogs’ body language and using her own communication skills, and she gets used to meeting unfamiliar dogs on a frequent basis. These valuable experiences can help guard against the development of fear and aggression problems around other dogs. Fun for pet parents Dogs aren’t the only ones who enjoy dog parks. People do, too. They can exercise their dogs without much effort, socialise with other dog lovers, bond and play with their dogs, practice their off-leash training skills, and enjoy the entertaining antics of dogs. please feel free to comment with you're thoughts on how having a local dog park in you're area would be good for you and you're dogs thank you Michael72 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Michael M Sweeney

Stop the importation and killing of gamebirds for sport.Over 40 million game birds are released in the uk every year, 40% of them are imported, 25% of them die before they are shot. Many are killed on roads, get eaten by predators or starve. This is also impacting on other wildlife and its habitat. These are non native birds that do not have the same protection as wild birds in the uk. We have a wildlife emergency and we need Natural England to act.80 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Debra Montgomery

Unlawful killing of any non human species using dogsI have seen at first hand the horrors this crime involves, my own cat being murdered by 3 vicious and uncontrolled grey hounds. The current law is wholly inadequate and does not take into account the serious psychological trauma caused to pet owners and others who witness or experience it, and needs to be much tougher to reduce the incidence in the future.14 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Helen Butler

Stop the Space PortNicola Sturgeon recently declared a Climate Emergency. Why is this development on the cards at all? This proposed development has already split the island community with fears that it will destroy the serene peacefulness of the area as well as harming wildlife and tourism. North Uist and the surrounding islands are a haven for breeding colonies of cormorants, black guillemots, seals and otters. There IS a climate emergency, we need to protect fragile environments and wildlife, this development is a major threat to both.28 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Patricia Cooney

STOP if you hit a catThe current law states that you must stop if you hit a dog but not a cat. Cats are loved by their owners just as much and should be treated the same. Many cats are left to die at the roadside instead of receiving the help that could save their lives. If reported to the owner or vet, many lives will be saved and changing the law would be a vital step in doing so. Please sign and share this petition. Thank you.95 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Fraser Allison
