  • Animal abuse
Instagram is littered with photos of overfed animals or animals that have been bred for “cuteness” despite it being detrimental to their health. The suffering of animals is being exploited to create revenue for cynical animal accounts. Animals are being fed unnatural foods from chocolate to milkshakes and even cannibalistic meats. Hashtags like #ChonkyCat are used to promote the overfeeding and most people are non the wiser that this amounts to serious animal abuse for human gain. It’s up to Instagram to make sure that animals can’t be used in this way.

  • Your dog, your mess, your responsibility.( lets get a dog park for downpatrick)
We call ourselves animal lovers but a small minority do not take responsibility for the “mess” dog leave. They are only doing what comes naturally, it’s their humans job to clean it! Dog mess is smelly, unhygienic, can make animals and humans sick. There will come a point when dogs will not be allowed to enjoy the beautiful area we live. Owners need to be more vigilant. The council need to step up and supply more bins. We also need an area that dogs can be exercised in safety.

  • Ban Battery Farming
I first heard about battery farms when I was about 12. I was shocked at how I humane people could be and I wrote to my MP about it. When that achieved nothing I had to start this petition. I really hope to help the chickens in their horrible conditions. Battery chickens don't get enough space to live. It is shown that they have high levels of stress and as a result they peck at each other and themselves. Cannibalism also occurs due to the stress caused by the lack of space. In response to this their beaks are chopped off with electronically heated blades which causes acute and chronic pain. Most of them never get to go outside and never get to see the sun, they remain in cages or crowded barns their whole lives until they are slaughtered for us to eat.

  • Outlaw the digging out of foxes
Digging out terrified animals who have tried to hide underground is a hideously cruel and unnecessary activity. Those who get their kicks from slaughtering our wildlife in this way are posting their grisly images and videos on social media and bragging about their exploits. Sometimes, after hours of digging to reach the terrified creature, s/he is hauled out and thrown to the dogs. Often the mutilated corpse is mocked and photographed and displayed as a sickening trophy for the groups who take delight in killing animals. This ugly pastime has no place in the UK in 2019. The police have powers to punish hare coursers by crushing their vehicles and confiscating their paraphernalia. Hare coursers may also be sent to prison. If your government is serious about protecting our wildlife and the environment, we the undersigned respectfully request that you make the digging out of animals that have gone to ground illegal, and punishable by imprisonment, confiscation of equipment and dogs and hefty fines.

  • Stop shooting birds for sport
So many birds are left injured and cruelly die a slow death, our wildlife should be left in peace, not just for the few who want to persecute them in the name of sport.

  • Prevent Animal Abusers from keeping animals
This is important because animal abusers who have inflicted terrible cruelty on animals, by allowing animals to starve, or by hitting dogs for instance, are currently allowed to have animals in the future, just so that they can continue their cruelty. It is morally wrong, tragic and must be stopped! Animals do not have a voice and cannot speak to defend themselves, and it is our moral duty to speak up for the animals that we love and cherish.

  • Keep our dogs safe, Wittering wants a dog park!
It seems as though we have alot of walks around wittering and it's the perfect place for your pup to be...however, if your dog escapes, if you let them off lead and they chase an animal or get distracted, we are faced with the fear or loosing them to the A1 or a47. Not only this but not all dogs can come off lead, not all pups can be off lead straight away. We need a place to safely train them, to safely let them run and play with other pups.

  • Dog fouling
It's very dangerous for everyone specially for children. Children's can fall into it. I think the council needs to buy and put cameras up in the area to catch them dog owners for not picking up there dog mess.
