It's important because for too long the media have given in to people who thrive and create careers from spewing hate. If we can get LBC and Global radio to come to their senses then we can send a message out to all broadcasters. Let's show the media and broadcasters that we are fed up with people who thrive on negativity and hate.

  • Make supermarkets hand over all unsold food to charities and offer a delivery service to the needy.
A group of French MPs has tabled a draft law to make it compulsory for supermarkets to hand over all unsold food still fit for consumption to charity. Many supermarket chains in France already donate unsold produce to charities, but 63 MPs from across the political spectrum would like to see the practice enshrined in law. Late in July, they tabled a draft bill making it compulsory for supermarkets with 1,000 square metres (10,800 sq ft) of floor space to give their “unsold but still consumable food products to at least one food charity”. Belgium became the first European country to introduce a similar a law in May. Given that the UK is facing an ever-more worrying reliance on food banks, shouldn’t we be thinking along these lines too? Under the next 5 years of Conservative government, people will be encouraged to live an ever-more healthy life-style to reduce the pressure on the NHS. What better way to do this than to ensure the most needy have access to fresh fruit and vegetables and other basic essentials they currently can only class as a luxury if on benefits or a very low income? I propose an even more logical solution: Those of us who are lucky enough to be able to afford wonderful groceries delivered to our doorstep could donate an extra £2 per purchase to ensure that fresh fruit and veg and other essential groceries are delivered to someone in need en route to our homes. You might be utterly surprised, David Cameron, just how many of us would be willing to sign up to such a scheme, thus ensuring the sick, disabled and elderly have a much-needed helping hand. Please consider this idea very seriously as it is based upon pure logic and the sharing of resources that are currently simply wasted.

  • Thomas Cook, decent compensation to the Shepherds.
Thomas Cook are morally responsible for the deaths of two children, Bobby and Christi, who died of carbon monoxide poisoning in a hotel room for which Thomas Cook were responsible. The inquest found this week that their deaths were unlawful although criminal prosecutions in this country are unlikely. The senior managers from Thomas Cook refused to answer questions in court, their legal right but to their absolute moral shame. Thomas Cook received £3.5m compensation following the deaths yet the parents of the two children have received only a fraction of this amount. This case is morally offensive, disdains the principles of natural justice and shows the contempt with which large corporations hold ordinary people.

  • Reclassify children's fancy dress clothes from toys - to meet clothing standards
Currently fancy dress costumes are classed as toys so are not necessarily fire proofed or fire retardant. The amount of children that are taken to hospital with burns due to fancy dress clothes is increasing. This can be stopped, simply by changing the classification from toys to clothes. Currently fancy dress clothes are CE checked for flammability. But this check is only suitable for toys which burn a lot slower than fancy dress clothes. Fancy dress clothes should be in the same category as the flammability of children's night clothes. After all children WEAR the fancy dress clothes, they do not play with them. "At the moment fancy dress costumes are not necessarily fire proofed or fire retardant. They are classified as toys, not clothes. Toy clothing, identified by the CE mark, is regulated however – including dressing up toys. Also, the flammability of children’s nightwear is regulated. All toys on the UK market are required to comply with the relevant flammability requirements. Toy manufacturers use materials that comply with the strict rules and carry out the necessary tests to demonstrate compliance"

  • STOP 'POVERTY PORN' PROGRAMS SUCH AS 'BENEFITS STREET' DEMONISING THE MOST VULNERABLE IN SOCIETY!
Channel 4 are contributing to the erroneous and damaging view that people on benefits are living 'the life of Riley' and draining our system. They clearly and shamelessly, continually concentrate camera shots on people smoking, drinking and breaking the law as if this is a normal and continuous action of EVERYONE on benefits. They never concentrate on people who have been made unemployed through no fault of their own, disabled people, vulnerable people who are unable to battle through the over-complicated and deliberately awkward benefits claiming process such as special needs individual or those who have never been faced with having to fill in deplorably convoluted claim forms before and are undoubtedly contributing to an erroneous image of what 'Austerity' will achieve.

  • Newspaper corrections should be the same size as the mistake!
We saw lots of tiny corrections following big (and incorrect!) headlines during this election campaign. The changes to the way corrections are published was a key recommendation from the Leveson Inquiry that both the Conservatives and Labour agreed to adopt. It's time for Ofcom to make sure corrections are the proper size and place. The Times front page from 24th April 2015 had the headline 'Labour's £1000 tax on families' - it was completely inaccurate. The Times published a correction on the 2nd May, but it was buried deep in the paper. If they had to publish their correction on the front page - where the original article sat - it would have been a prominent and therefore just correction. The front page would have looked like this: 'Our headline about Labour's tax on families was inaccurate: Some of these taxes and levies will only apply to companies, and the others will affect a small minority of families, not “every working family” as we reported.' It would be a just and fair way to report corrections that would have a deterrent effect on mistakes, media bias and failure to check facts.

  • Force Supermarkets to use re-cyclable packaging for all foodstuffs
The amount of food sold in Supermarkets is astronomical and the packaging is still around 40% non re-cyclable. This is hugely damaging to the environment.Sorting through my waste is so dis-heartening when I keep having to put this packaging into the landfill bag.

  • Open Arlington shops and public car park
Arlington is one of the first thing you see when you come out of Margate railway station. Billionaire leaseholders Freshwater only pay Thanet Council £7,500 per year for the entire Arlington site, which is less than the yearly rent on a shop in Margate! Tesco have pulled out of opening a superstore at Arlington and Dreamland is opening on June 19th. Now is the time for Thanet Council to act. Dreamland needs to be a success. Walking past a boarded up site and with badly needed parking out of use isn't acceptable.

  • Urgent - calling on BP to release all renewable energies research
Our one Earth is slowly being poisoned to death by our thirst for energy. BP should be doing everything in their power to alleviate this situation and help us make progress. The research they have locked away could hold vital clues for future breakthrough discoveries and, at the very least, stop scientists wasting their time by duplicating experiments that have already been attempted. There is absolutely no excuse for BP to avoid disclosure. They are literally murdering innocents through their silence. The Guardian newspaper has presented credible evidence of their culpability in this matter and I would strongly encourage everyone to read this article: http://www.theguardian.com/environment/2015/apr/16/bp-dropped-green-energy-projects-worth-billions-to-focus-on-fossil-fuels Why is this urgent? Well, the longer BP keep their knowledge locked-up, the more our planet is choked to death by pollution. A barrel-load of signatures from everyone on this petition mean we can bring real pressure to bear on this corporate behemoth, which would make all our futures much brighter.

  • STOP AGENCY WORKERS IN THE NHS
We are losing control of staff members by using external contractors to find staff for NHS. This could be for floor cleaning to doctors from abroad laying off of staff then re-employing into agency is not a good thing to do it needs to stop now or we lose the NHS to American contractors

  • Thornton Heath says no to Paddy Power
We believe there is already a saturation of betting shops in the Thornton Heath area (13 in total) and this has resulted in incidents of anti-social behaviour. It will also be detrimental to the health and well-being of local residents. If Thornton Heath is to remain a hub for the local community and play an important role in local economic life, there needs to be a variety of community, commercial and retail offerings. Another book betting shop will do nothing to sustain the area. We also believe that sitting a betting shop below social housing, next to the leisure centre and adjacent to the clock tower, a historical landmark, is an inappropriate site for a betting establishment.

  • bring primark to great yarmouth
Great Yarmouth is a dying and out dated town. With regent road selling the same tat year after year and not all that good value for money and the town that is now just a mix of charity shops, banks and betting agents we are need of a affordable shop that sell children's and adults clothes and household items. The towns people would benefit greatly from a primark here.
