• Return The Old Spotted Dog Ground to the People of Newham
The Old Spotted Dog Ground, adjacent to the pub of the same name on Upton Lane in Forest Gate, has been home to Clapton Football Club since it played its first match there over 130 years ago in 1887. From May 1993, the sports ground and its 99-year lease have been controlled by a charity, Newham Community Leisure (NCL). From 2003, however, it has repeatedly failed to file accounts and the ground was effectively run as a private business, in breach of the charity's aims and objectives. A complaint was made to the Charity Commission as far back as 2013, but it has dragged on for years without resolution. Finally, in 2017, the Charity Commission ordered the NCL trustees to a meeting to provide evidence of how they made decisions about contracts, the charity's relationship with its main tenant Clapton FC and to answer concerns about conflicts of interest. A first meeting was cancelled due to “illness”. On the eve of a second attempt to hold this meeting, NCL announced it was going into liquidation and so the interview was postponed. Around the same time, it also emerged that a company with the same aims and objects as the charity had been quietly set up, presumably to take over after NCL had been wound up. Supporters of Clapton FC obtained an injunction against the liquidation in April 2017. Legal action against a charity requires the permission of the Charity Commission and so in July, a judge asked for their authorisation. Inexplicably, this was not provided until February 2018. The Charity Commission has also produced a report on the management of NCL, but despite repeated requests, it has still not published it. Now a further attempt has been made again close down NCL. This leaves the ground vulnerable to having its assets sold off and full control of the lease to remain in the hands of the people who have mismanaged the ground for the last 15 years. We say this historic and treasured local resource must return to the community – managed and cared for by a charity that is properly run by and genuinely seeks to benefit local residents. We call on Newham Council to support us in securing the future of the Old Spotted Dog Ground – and for the Charity Commission to release its investigation report on NCL immediately.

  • Clean up The development site opposite Asda
This is a local residential area and is an eyesore. The area is on a main road leading in and out of Hayle an looks awful for both residents and visitors. Hayle relies heavily on attracting tourists and this distracts from the hard work put in by locals and local community groups such as Hayle in bloom who work hard to make the town look attractive. Now that the boarding is down the site is also open and is a health and safety hazard. Clean it up now!

  • PayPal should lift the ban on CBD Products!
CBD is a legal product to sell and is an amazing health supplement! Despite this, PayPal have taken an anti-business stance that won't allow CBD product sales from certain businesses. PayPal states it "breaks the terms of its policies", however fails to show or explain where this is stated. Additionally you can use PayPal to buy CBD oil via a website owned by PayPal's parent company? A small farmer or oil producer can really benefit from the use of PayPal for their business, so you can't help but feel maybe they are being targeted and this is not right. I believe it's important for us all to do our part in stopping this from happening, please help by signing this petition and sharing with your friends. Thank you all!

  • Save the Radio 2 Book Club on Simon Mayo's Drivetime
Books help us understand the world. They help us empathise. They help create communities. The Radio 2 Book Club on Simon Mayo's Drivetime was a unique offering: it created engagement with people who didn't necessarily think of themselves as avid readers. It gave listeners a voice - a chance to critique books on national radio. And it created national debate about books at a time when, arguably, we need it most. The Radio 2 Book Club was a critical component of the BBC's cultural coverage. Take it away and you take away a conversation about books with millions of people who may not get it elsewhere. Please: reinstate the R2 Book Club. For the good of literature. For the good of readers. And the good of society.

  • Make Beenham's A4 junction safer
Most local residents and our visitors agree that the junction with the A4 at Beenham Hill is dangerous. If you are turning right to go towards Newbury you currently have to contend with • traffic heading east along the A4 • traffic turning right from the west, across the central reservation towards the hotel, the old houses which are along the main road and now the new development just past the hotel • traffic turning right from the east to cross to Beenham Hill • traffic coming out of the hotel and turning westwards OR crossing the A4 to go eastwards • traffic coming out of the new development to the east of the hotel and turning westwards OR crossing the A4 to go eastwards • traffic coming out of the existing road where the older houses are and turning westwards OR crossing the A4 to go eastwards • traffic heading west along the A4 Equally there is a problem when trying to turn right from the east to get to Beenham Hill, bearing in mind all the different streams of traffic. The central reservation area is not big enough for vehicles trying to go in the various directions and the road markings are inadequate and ambiguous. We urge the District Council and the Highways authority to install a roundabout as the safest option at this junction and to do it before a serious accident occurs. Some years ago Harts Hill from Bucklebury to Thatcham was changed from National Speed Limit to 40mph after a Beenham resident was killed there by a car driving too fast for the conditions. More recently changes were made to the A4 at Beenham following the death there of another Beenham resident. Let's hope we don’t have to wait for yet another Beenham villager to be involved in a fatality before this junction is made safe.

  • Keep Moseley Friends' Institute for the Use of the Local Community
Moseley Friends' Institute was gifted to the people of Birmingham by the Cadbury family so that it could be used for the benefit of local people. It has for many years been managed by Birmingham City Council, who are currently considering the future of the building. Although it is currently in need of renovation and repair, it could be an important resource for the community.

  • National awareness day for "visual awareness regarding knife-crime and violence" "mobile phone app"
We are tired of losing our children to knife violence on the streets. It is an on-going struggle to collect funds to raise awareness for the well-being and safety of our young people. Violence is never a way forward and it is impacting the growth and futures of our children. Too many of our children are dying senselessly. I've lost my son 4 years ago to knife crime, he died saving another, stabbed in the heart and my heart is broken all over again with the news of another broken home today. Our young people are constantly on their phones, and I believe a mobile phone app will give them the opportunity to find support and guidance. They will be reminded constantly of the consequences of carrying knives. Warnings and updates of police presence on the streets should be consistent and shared through this app as a preventative measure. Stop and search tactics should be conducted in a routine manner. If we can save lives, we should not hesitate to put this in effect. There is always a reason to try all avenues of preventative measures. A system with easy access in this day and age can contribute to a positive future for our present and future generation. Can we give this a try??

  • STOP car parking charges in Dingwall
Car Parking charges will kill off Dingwall High Street altogether. Please show your support for this cause by signing our petition and sending the letter below to all 4 of our Councillors elected to represent Dingwall. You will find their email addresses below. Thank you. Email template: Dear Councillors elected to represent the Dingwall & Seaforth Ward, I am writing to ask you to reverse Highland Council's decision to introduce car parking charges in the Dingwall south car park. Whilst car parking charges may help other towns across the region, Dingwall does not currently have parking or congestion problems. Therefore, these new charges will be seen as a barrier and are likely to deter locals and visitors from doing their shopping in the town and consequently disadvantage its small businesses. One of the best things about Dingwall is the FREE parking available. The council should be doing more to support local businesses and not hamper them. I urge you to help protect Dingwall and reverse the decision to introduce car parking charges. Finally, please update me on what action you have taken to achieve the above. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Yours Sincerely, Name: Address: Please cut and paste above then send to: [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] [email protected]

  • Save North Manchester Wellbeing Centre
The Centre was opened by people who really cared about the support available when life seems so hard. Old fashioned community support and ongoing help for each other can't be provided on the NHS but it can be provided by local people who care enough to volunteer their time and energy to run the service. Our Centre has been described by the people who use it as being a family where there's always someone to listen and offer help. We can't lose this valuable community asset that we the volunteers have put our hearts and souls into, so please show you think this is important too and sign the petition.

  • Night shelter provision
Following the Homelessness Reduction Act, which came into force in April 2018, local authorities have a duty to provide interim accommodation for “all people found to be homeless and in priority need” and “In determining who is in priority need, housing authorities will need to be aware that ‘an applicant may be considered vulnerable because of a combination of factors which taken alone may not necessarily lead to a decision that they are vulnerable (e.g. drug and alcohol problems, common mental health problems, a history of sleeping rough, no previous experience of managing a tenancy)” We, the undersigned, call upon the Borough Council of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk to follow on from the successful night shelter funded by Churches Together and fund a night shelter 7 nights a week as part of the interim accommodation
