CELEBRATE DAVID ATTENBOROUGH ON THE NEW £20 BANKNOTEIt’s no surprise that Sir David Attenborough came out top in this poll. With his tireless conservation work, he would act as a constant reminder to the public to make ‘ethical’ money choices every single day. 'It is, surely, our responsibility to do everything within our power to create a planet that provides a home not just for us, but for all life on Earth'. Good Money Week is the campaign to raise awareness of sustainable, responsible and ethical finance to help people make good money choices. Good Money Week aims to ensure that everyone knows they have sustainable and ethical options when it comes to their financial decisions. Good Money Week is taking place from the 8th-14th October 2017. Sustainable and ethical investment and finance allows you to have a positive impact on the environment and society without sacrificing financial performance.3,004 of 4,000 SignaturesCreated by Rich Gundry

Keep George St, HOVE traffic free until 6pm in the summer monthsBrighton and Hove City Council have voted on a trial period of opening up the road to traffic at 4pm from April 2018 for a seven month period. We point out to the council that even one child knocked over by a car whilst walking along this currently pedestrianised street is one child too many. A public consultation took place in 2015 on this same issue and the Council decided not to change the traffic-free times as 'A number of road safety issues were identified' and '85% of the public who responded to the consultation did NOT want any change to the times'. We, the undersigned believe that the safety and health of the many city residents who shop in George St should be of utmost importance and that the current pedestrianisation of George Street in the summer months up to 6pm should be upheld.605 of 800 SignaturesCreated by Mitchie Alexander

Save Marple WharfMarple was created by the canals. Generations have walked and boated along them, fed the ducks, or just stopped and stared. It makes us who we are. The centre is the Wharf where three canals meet. Above all, this is a public place of shared heritage and experience. A developer has submitted a planning application on behalf of the Canal and River Trust to convert the warehouse to a house which means it would be lost to the community forever. The community cannot afford the inflated price CRT have demanded for the warehouse. More information: http://www.marplecivicsociety.org.uk/News.html Please object directly to application DC/067000 to the Council too: http://planning.stockport.gov.uk/PlanningData-live/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=dates&keyVal=OVJXKCPJGLS001,442 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Peter Black

Build a skatepark in BramleyWe want to create a dedicated place for skateboarders, BMX'ers and scooters to ride, it will mean one place for all of these people to come together and use the facility, for free. With national health issues looming for today’s youth, it’s time to offer a greater number of healthy, athletic choices. We understand the need to support our youth who wish to pursue active healthy lifestyles. Without community support those groups are required to build their own support systems outside of our community. There’s no doubt that skateboarding, BMX'ing and riding scooters is one of the most popular sports for people between the age of 4-18 (and above that age). For lots of people, spending time at the skatepark will be something cool to do that doesn’t cost any money. For our community, having a great skatepark will serve to show the region that we understand how to engage our young adults. Skateboarding, BMX and scooter riding is happening with or without a skatepark. By not supporting our local youth with a skatepark, it doesn’t mean they will quit skating. It just means we are putting them at risk of injury and run-ins with law enforcement. Please READ, SIGN AND SHARE this petition.402 of 500 SignaturesCreated by Liam Walker

Stop the Grapes Public House, Sutton from being soldThe Grapes is a friendly, local pub used by the local people of Sutton and the casual visitor. Folk can relax and enjoy a beverage, a beer and/or meal in a warm and welcoming setting. The mood of the Grapes is quite dissimilar to any other Wetherspoons pub in the surrounding area and particularly different to that of The Moon on the Hill, at the top of Sutton High Street, where they cater more for office workers by day and the younger reveller at night, especially on a Friday/Saturday evening either as a staging post before an evening of nightclubbing or to remain in that location for the evening. To the majority of those of us who regularly frequent the Grapes, it is considered a jewel in the Wetherspoons stable of pubs as a local pub and the notion of the Grapes being up for sale means a great deal to a great many of us. The quality of food, general care and the condition, quality and choice of Real Ales not to mention the superb service from the staff given to regular patrons, casual drinkers and diners as well holiday makers and visitors to the township of Sutton makes for a very pleasant, quieter home from home and nice place to be. For the residents of Sutton, the Grapes provides a key local hub and pleasant meeting place. We feel that the integrity of the Grapes and all that it means to exiting patrons would be best maintained now and in the future if it were to remain owned, run and managed by JD Wetherspoon plc. Thank you for your time.291 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Mark, Bob & Fiona

Please re-open The Traveller's Rest Pub, NewtownThere has been a pub on this site since the early 1800 and is the last remaining pub in the village of Newtown. We have no shops, doctor or even a bus service. It was a viable business and a popular meeting place. It has been used by many, including yourselves, and its closure has been upsetting to us. You are in the entertainment industry and understand the value of social interaction, please re-open the pub so we can once again come together and enjoy the company of friends and visitors in its warm, convivial atmosphere.195 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Anita Smith

Give London's Pie & Mash shops Heritage StatusThe number of Pie & Mash shops in London has fallen from 57 to 27 in the past 20 years, making way for an endless array of throwaway coffee chains and flavour of the day, pop-up posh grub, whatever's the rage! This often family-run tradition dates back to the 1840's, offering Londoners an affordable, hearty meal in a warm and familiar, community driven environment, something London desperately needs now more than ever. If you too are sick of the greedy stream of gentrification washing away every trace of character and culture from our streets then please sign and share. Cheers!197 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Calum Connaughton

Rent arrears is not 'intentional homelessness'Many people on part-time or zero-hours contracts have ongoing problems getting paid their full entitlement of housing benefit and end up in rent arrears. This is what happened to Clavia Chambers who was evicted by Lambeth Council last month with her two young children and is still fighting to have this decision overturned (http://housingactivists.co.uk/protest/clavias-case-shows-how-anyone-can-become-homeless ) All unemployed, disabled and low paid workers are currently being moved onto Universal Credit. The chronic delays, cuts, and mismanagement of claims in this new system is going to make this situation even worse. There has been an explosive rise in rent arrears among universal credit claimants. There is a real danger of spiralling numbers of evictions and more social cleansing in Lambeth because the council currently classifies people evicted for rent arrears as 'intentionally homeless' and refuses to rehouse them. Lambeth council should not be evicting people who fall foul of the brutal and complicated benefits system. They should be supporting tenants to appeal unjust benefit decisions and they should use their powers to make discretionary housing benefit payments to prevent people in private rented homes becoming homeless too.1,310 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Lambeth HousingActivists

Save Reading Central Club!Reading Borough Council are threatening to knock down the Central Mural and sell the building to commercial developers. The Mural is an important both as a piece of Art and as a memorial to the lives of people significant in African, Afro-American, Caribbean and black British History. It reminds us (accurately) that some pharaohs were black. (If it is ever extended in size it could now usefully add a major Russian Novelist and an American President!). It would be a huge loss to us if we lose it and an insult to the many Reading Residents from Barbados, Jamaica, East and West Africa and elsewhere. Personally I am scots of Irish and English descent and I love that mural620 of 800 SignaturesCreated by John Roy

Save our local supermarket in Covent GardenThere are 7,000 people living in Covent Garden, many in social housing who are elderly or disabled who depend on their local supermarket for food. There are many more who work or study in the area and shop at Marks and Spencer regularly. This is a very busy food department. The nearby Tesco is also under threat. It is reported that the reason for closure is that the rent for the premises is too high to make a profit. Someone has got to compromise. We do not need yet another designer store. The community is being destroyed and Covent Garden is being turned into a playground for wealthy tourists. This petition is backed by the Covent Garden Community Association. www.coventgarden.org.uk316 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Covent Garden Community Association London
