• Save our Disabled Children's Transport
Coventry Council are making the families of disabled children pay £600 a year for transport to and from school. This service used to be free, but now families are being forced to fork out. The wellbeing and education of disabled children is being put at risk. Disabled children should not be punished for going to school.

  • Stop Furness Park Closures.
The council announced plans at the start of September to close 5 local parks in an attempt to save £13,247. These park closures are at the expense of our whole community. It is difficult enough for children to find safe areas to play without removing the places built for that exact purpose. It is so important that we don't let the council destroy our local play areas, depriving children of the chance to socialise and mingle with others; to let off some steam, to keep fit and active. Please sign this petition to show support for keeping the Furness area's public parks open! (Information sources from Reece Hanson's article in Wednesday the 6th of September's issue of The Evening Mail).

  • USS must show its workings
The current valuation of the USS pension scheme is critically important to its members, as the results may well lead to significant benefits cuts or large contribution increases. The assumptions and methods that USS have used in their valuations are causing huge amounts of controversy, and led to the biggest strike in higher education for a generation. The 'Academics for Pensions Justice' campaign, resourced through donations by 2,000 USS members, are demanding that USS provides full disclosure of the data, assumptions and modelling approach underpinning the 2017 valuation. It is imperative that those wanting to scrutinize the workings, including the Joint Expert Panel established in the wake of the strike action, are able to do so. The current lack of transparency is indefensible and should be of huge concern to all USS members, who have every right to see the workings behind any figures USS produces and need to be sure that any claims of unsustainability are put under proper scrutiny.

  • Get a pedestrian crossing for Lancaster Road, Hinckley, Leicestershire.
This is very important because it is very dangerous & extremely busy. A mother with a child in a pushchair already had an accident there & there is nowhere safe to cross at all. I am sure if they don't do this soon, there could even be fatalities.

  • Don't Shut Down Our One Stop Shops!
John Biggs led Tower Hamlets Council is planning to shut down One Stop Shops in the borough which provide invaluable services to our residents, friends, family members and loved ones. This means there will no longer be face to face service about parking, housing benefits, council tax, welfare etc. for the local community in stand-alone One Stop Shops with their expert knowledge and expertise to help residents – many of whom would be vulnerable in a distressed situation or in need of help. Yet again, while the Labour Mayor of Tower Hamlets John Biggs enjoys his own 11.7% salary increase – the residents’ services are being slashed and those most in need are left to fend for themselves. The rationale or ‘excuse’ provided is to move the service online which will alienate the elderly, those who do not use a computer, find reading a challenge, special needs or for whom the first language is not English. Separately, there are also concerns about data breaches or information being passed on to third parties using the new wi-fi model. There is a genuine fear that the face to face service will completely disappear even if any temporary stop-gap-measures or a promise to see complicated cases at future date was made initially to get the changes through now in order to manage any protest or to negate the complaints from the users, staff and others. I have raised this important issue with the council in detail and am awaiting further information and answers in relation to the concerns many residents and I share about this cut which will mean there will no longer be any stand-alone One Stop Shops in the borough. Please sign the petition and pass it on to your friend, families and those concerned so that we can put pressure on the Mayor and Council to stop this decision.

  • Keep Eastham Walk in Center open
Wirral has four walk in centers at present, three are in Wallasey and Birkenhead (The North of the Wirral peninsula) and only one in Wirral South where there is an ageing population. It takes two bus rides and a five hour round trip to attend Arrowpark (nearest) from Eastham. The closure will result in more calls for ambulances and a greater strain on Arrowpark A&E triage services, and the risk of families and the elderly not being able to attend. This could lead to further complications and emergency cases. Once again the residents of Wirral South take the hit and are disregarded to bolster Birkenhead and the northen end of the Wirral. Please sign this petition, say NO to this closure and show your support in keeping our only facility in Wirral South open. Thankyou

  • Stop cuts to IVF in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire
The NHS Bristol is being crushed under budget cuts. Now fertility services in the Bristol area are under threat. Current proposals are to limit treatment to to women aged between 30 & 35 years (previously anyone up to the age of 40 was eligible) where there are no existing children and only one cycle will be offered. The upper age limit for men to receive treatment will also be reduced to 52 years. Half the couples who currently receive treatment in the Bristol area will no longer qualify and will be forced to pay for treatment privately or go without. These proposed cuts to fertility funding are a shameless attack on desperate women and couples and will do little to nothing to relieve the budgetary pressures that the NHS is under.

  • Save Veterans First Point
A decision will be taken this week on whether a "lifeline" service for hundreds of armed forces veterans will be forced to close its Grampian base. Eight Veterans First Point centres were set up in Scotland using cash from the UK government's Libor fund. But that money is running out and local health boards are now covering costs - with help from the Scottish government. NHS Grampian has now said it is unable to continue to fund the service. Veterans first point is a NHS run service to help veterans. It enables veterans to get help quickly for all sorts of problems, but mental health is the biggest. Without it veterans can be waiting over 12 months for help by which far to many will have committed suicide. These veterans have served you it is time you served them.

  • Save the D&G 93 Gillow Heath-Biddulph-Biddulph Moor-Leek Bus Service. Ends midnight 14/09/17
If this bus service loses its subsidy, many residents will be left isolated, with their only means of transport out of the villages of Biddulph Moor and Gillow Heath cut off. It's a vital public service and will impact on people being able to go the the doctors, dentist and supermarket. It will affect people's mental health - social isolation plays a huge role in people's health and well-being. It will also have a negative impact on students wishing to access further education at Leek College.

  • Save Coatbridge DWP office
The proposed closure of the office means relocating 250 staff outwith Coatbridge. The closure of the office will have a crushing affect of Coatbridge Main Street and other small businesses within the area. Over 50% of the staff within the office are on alternative working patterns such as school term time or compressed working days; to suit family life within the area. Staff relocation's are currently planned between September & November. The closure of this office is part of the conservatives centralization plans to remove hundreds of government offices out of small towns and place them within large hubs in cities. The campaign is headed by Hugh Gaffney MP & PCS (DWP Lanarkshire Branch)
