If you cannot pass the tests in your third attempt, like me, then this holds you back from becoming an outstanding teacher. 2 years is a lot of time and it holds students back from wanting to teach because if you cannot pass after 2 years then you have to wait for another 2 years. I would like unlimited chances to pass Literacy and numeracy skills test to be put back to action because the government is loosing so many highly skilled student teachers as they are unable to pass their qts tests. I am sure most PGCE students would agree with this.

Previously a drugs calculation exam had to be passed in the second year of the midwifery course. In 2014 this changed to August of the third year, at a time when students are about to complete their degree. The exam is the only assessment that has a 100% pass rate and due to the timing of this exam any minor errors/human error will result in failing and due to the timing will result in students not being able to retake the exam in time to graduate or qualify with the rest of their cohort. The pressure on the student of exam conditions and the high pass rate causes a natural risk for human error. Failure of the exam is not due to lack of knowledge and is not true to practice as drug administration has procedures in place to check doses and drugs before administration as it is known that human error can occur. Most midwifery students have already been offered employment prior to the exam after successfully completing rigorous interview processes which includes successful completion of a drug administration test at the trust where employment has been offered. This employment is in jeopardy pending a fail result in the exam. Competent future midwives are impacted hugely by this late exam which could be rectified if moved or changed to an earlier date. Children are being forced to carry an obscene amount of textbooks

I am 12 years old and in my second year of secondary education. It has been on my mind for some time that the school curriculum doesn't provide kids with many of the life skills which will be vital to us as adults. Such as; Basic first aid Politics, how to vote Mental health awareness including self care and it's importance Interview skills, writing a cv Social skills - about empathy and respect for others. Awareness of physical and emotional abuse. Recognising signs of gas lighting etc. Sex education should include much more about relationships, self respect and emotions. We should learn about current events and how they affect us. Feminism, equal rights. Law Human rights, how many people can name all 30? Financial issues should be incorporated into our maths lessons, such as: How bank accounts, mortgages and ISAs work Basic Money management and household budgeting We have PSHE days now and then (one each term) but we spend much of these days socialising with friends, watching dvds etc. There is not enough time dedicated to learning these key skills. The basics should be taught from primary school age. We are constantly spoken to about what we want to do when we are adults, but we don't learn the basic skills to get us through those years, we only seem to learn how to pass exams and then what? By increasing education, interest will likely be developed, which can counter the abysmally low youth turnouts at elections. A better informed public can help boost election results.

Privatisation, especially of the NHS will put lives at risk and will have seriously negative impacts for those on lower incomes. Schools and hospitals should be there for the benefit of all UK citizens and using them to generate profit will only undermine the amazing service they currently offer.

Recent background: 1. In August ’16 Government gave a policy statement in relation to the Sugary Drinks Industry Levy that Key component of Childhood Obesity Strategy is to promote diet drinks. It was no.1 in a list of ‘12 Things You Should Know’, published on the government’s news website. The ‘reformulation’ of products, which currently amounts to replacing sugar with artificial sweeteners, was to be extended to other products deemed too high in sugar, regular yoghurts are among the cited foods. Questions challenging the policy were blocked at the Health Matters Live event in November ’16. Citations of studies and reviews that concluded not enough was known about the safety of sweeteners, were removed from a Wikipedia site on Sugar Taxes. The effect of the strategy has been an escalation in the use of sweeteners by manufacturers, and it is not immediately clear, when choosing items from the shelves in supermarkets, that sweeteners are being used where once they were not. Products may not be described as ‘diet’ or ‘with sweeteners’, other than in smaller print on the ingredients label. (Neotame and advantame may legitimately be used without any mention on the ingredients label.) 2. In January ’17 a Government Health Report announced that for success there needed to be zero price promotions on ‘unhealthy’ products. To use the same example, regular yoghurts are classed as ‘unhealthy’, artificially sweetened ones as the ‘healthy’ option. The effect of this move is to limit the affordable choices for poorer families wanting to give their children a healthy balanced diet with less emphasis on sweet things, but with no artificial sweeteners. It is unfair that travel companies are able to penalise parent of school age children by hiking the prices during the school holiday period. It is unacceptable to take children out of school and now we are threatened with court action. Our government need to be tightly governing these companies and stop letting them raise the prices so high, therefore affording more parents a chance to take their families away during peak times.

Some people can't afford to go on holiday. So when they finish for their well earned break they find due to global warming they've missed most of the sun while stuck in their classroom

High profit margins and fixed shops with school logo's mean people have no choice but to use designated shop or shops thus limiting choice. For example a jacket at Asda is between 10 and 12 pounds the same jacket with logo is around 40 pounds the profit margins are enormous and it is totally unfair exploitation. Also pre loved jackets donated to schools are then sold for around 10 pounds so schools are on a winner every time. If the badges only cost a couple of pounds to produce why can they not be made available on their own and how much are the schools making out of this ?? This is about freedom of choice as to where you buy a product and the fact that it is in fact a monopoly. Also should a school profit from a necessary item such as uniform??
