  • Close all non essential shops
Boris Johnson this week issued a ' 'request' to bars, cafés, clubs, cinemas, theatres and music venues and all entertainment businesses and schools that they close in view of the Corona Virus emergency. However shopping centres, and non essential shops are remaining open. Putting both retail workers and the public at risk of contracting the virus. These are also busy public spaces which are hard to maintain social distance .

  • Prioritise home delivery according to medical need.
Many elderly and disabled/ chronically ill people have been relying on home deliveries for their own everyday nutritional and personal hygiene needs. Due to widespread panic buying, it has become increasingly difficult to secure a delivery slot within a reasonable time frame, so that many people in these vulnerable groups are currently facing not only the prospect of loneliness over the coming weeks and months, but the very real possibility of running out of basic groceries and over-the-counter medical supplies. Please sign this petition and help to ensure that the most vulnerable members of our society don’t get overlooked during this pandemic. 🙏🏻

  • Have drive-in Coronavirus testing in every UK town
If people are NOT being tested for CV, how on earth will anyone know if they have had this infection & they have built up a resistance to this deadly virus. The government keeps saying stay at home, ,2 weeks for some, for up to 4 months for the elderly. If people knew that they had already been infected and not just had a dose of flu, they could return to work. Schools etc.

  • Hospital For Cumbernauld
Cumbernauld in the largest and most populous town in North Lanarkshire and the 10th largest town in Scotland and has no hospital and no out of hours service and no transport links to enable the residents of Cumbernauld to access healthcare out with the town. A local business man has offered a piece of land for FREE to have the hospital built in Cumbernauld and yet Cumbernauld has been rejected as a possible site for the new hospital. Why? Because apparently it will detract from a nearby hospital in a different region ( Forth Valley Royal Hospital, Larbert ) some 10 miles away. A hospital that the residents of Cumbernauld are actively discouraged from using. Instead NHS North Lanarkshire is looking at Gartcosh as a potential site for the new hospital. Gartcosh being just 8 miles from Glasgow Royal Infirmary. Since the majority of patients will be from Cumbernauld i think it’s only right that the hospital be built in Cumbernauld.

  • Remove business rates for small local business
This is important as recently, business rates are sinking small businesses with these extortionate costs. In particular two businesses in two separate councils that serve the whole community for their mental and physical well-being. Small Businesses in the health and fitness realm that can help with issues such as anxiety / stress / IBS to name a few. Sadly, these businesses look to take the pressure off the NHS but who have no real chance of growing + staying to help the community. Support local as we are told, however we need the government to lead on this message and help small businesses thrive.

  • Health & leisure facilities open to teenagers
Fitness improves the overall wellbeing in our teenagers, both mentally and physically, at a time when they need it most. Being a teenager isn’t easy and there are very few adults who would wish to return this age. They are not all rascals, which our press would have us believe. The rascals are in fact the minority. Our community and the facilities within should be encouraging health and fitness. My daughter has been invited to help start a volleyball team at school. She is also a dancer, who aims to teach professionally. She wanted to improve her fitness and so came lane swimming with me. She was asked to leave by the facilities assistant manager due to being “underage”. Not based on ability just on age. She has now joined a gym, who took her money for a membership but when she arrived after school she was told she couldn’t visit without an accompanying adult. We have all read the reports of an increasing number of teenagers suffering from mental health issues, particularly depression, and teenagers addicted to computer games. Exercise helps regulate hormones, improves moodswings, and reduces the risk of mental health issues. Teenagers who have the interest and want to exercise should be encouraged to do so. It keeps them away from the risks and temptations that are ever present on the streets and also steers them away from the bombardment of social media. Surely these facilities should have a responsibility to promote and encourage exercise in our youth. It would just need the simple solution and low cost of providing supervision for 2 or 3 hours after school hours. Please give your support to help encourage these facilities to promote the health and wellbeing, that they market themselves on, to our youth. Health & wellbeing does not just apply to adults.

  • Don't reduce our standards to secure Trade Deals
As a country, we have high standards, in particular to the safety of food products and safety standards, and we should not lower our standards simply to secure a trade deal. This is a backward step and we firmly believe that if a country wishes to trade with us they should raise their standards to meet ours. This ensures that the British public can still have faith in the quality and hygiene standards of the food they eat and the products they buy here in the UK.

  • CQC to STOP doing announced visits!
This is important because it would STOP Care Homes who cover things up getting away with it. It would mean that the vulnerable residents would get the quality of care that they rightly deserve. If a Care Home has nothing to hide and everything is done inline with policies and procedures and the Law then they wouldn’t object to unannounced visits from CQC. This would also lead to a more accurate CQC Rating which would give people a more informative choice of where they want to place their loved ones.

  • Dads to Stay Overnight at Birth
At present, each NHS Trust is able to set their own policies on whether Dads can stay overnight on their maternity wards. Whilst one hospital will allow this, another five miles away, will not. Should parents be sent to a different hospital to the one stated in their birthing plan, they do not know if the Dad can stay overnight. At the birth of my baby, I was shocked that Dads were being asked if they wanted to stay overnight, as this should be a given with no need to be asked. Whilst most Dads said they would stay overnight, several said they were going home. The expectation should be that they are all staying at hospital with their partner. After Dads had advised that they would be staying, they were then told that there was nowhere for them to sleep other than a plastic chair and it was made clear that the food was for the expectant mother. While the food issues is fully accepted, a more comfortable environment should be provided for Dads. Initially, I wanted to campaign for the comfort aspect to be improved, however when researching this, it became apparent that Dads are not allowed to stay overnight at all hospitals. This is reminiscent of of Victorian times, yet it is still happening in 2020. Dads are a great emotional support to their partners during labour, and if allowed to stay, can relieve midwives from this role. When there is a societal view that men often don't get involved with child care, they should be encouraged and accepted to stay at hospital at such a significant time as child birth. By not allowing Dads to stay, sends out the wrong message to new Dads. Furthermore, a baby needs to be able to form attachments with both parents, and therefore Dads must be able to start this relationship from the outset. Please support us in our campaign to get all NHS Trusts to have consistency in policy, by allowing Dads to stay overnight at every maternity ward. Thank you Jonathan Roberts

  • Richard Branson Should Pay Corporation Tax On NHS Local Authority Deals worth 2billion
Our NHS is vital to so many people. When people are at their lowest and in need of medical care our NHS should provide this essential service Behind the scenes so much money is being siphoned off to private enterpise that that front line services are being neglected. This must stop. Our NHS should stay in public hands. Hands off Private Companies.
