Better Broadband for Rural AreasA recent survey by the Federation of Small Businesses found that only 16% of small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) in rural areas had access to superfast broadband. Some 10-15% of the population could not get broadband despite a government target to hit 95% by 2017. Before spending £millions on enhancing to mega-speeds areas which already have a more than adequate service, everyone i.e. 100% should have a minimum standard to enable businesses to run, websites to be uploaded and students to study. I wonder - if 5% of the population signed a petition would it make any difference? That is an incredibly depressing and abysmal picture. Question for our Government, what will you do about it?76 of 100 SignaturesCreated by LINDA DICKINSON

Cap rent increases and prevent rising povertyYear after year landlords and Councils have increased rents by at least 4%. This year many are levying 4% increases at a time when many ordinary people - 'hard working families' to use politician speak, are on minimum wage and who have not had a wage rise in 2 years. Private landlords and local Councils are proactively making people poorer as expenses increase and income remain stagnant. Just recently The Royal Bank of Scotland, that was bailed out by tax payers, has defended plans to pay £588m in staff bonuses despite suffering an £8.24bn loss in 2013 as it slumped into the red for the sixth successive year. Ross McEwan, its Chief Executive, is expected to earn £2.7m for simply doing a job he was brought in to do. However, the bank is still in the red, so he hasn't achieved the goal, yet he still receives more money in bonuses than most people earn in a lifetime. Barclays increased bonuses by 10% to £2.4bn. HSBC said it would increase salaries for its bosses to get around a European union cap on bonuses. Are we going to swallow this silently? We clearly are not 'all in this together'. Perhaps the worst offenders are those local Councils who are taking the easy option and passing on the costs of their central government funding shortfall to those in social housing and those who have to pay council tax - those who have the least ability to pay and do anything about the increase. It is sickening to hear politicians speaking about raising people out of poverty yet allowing this activity to continue.112 of 200 SignaturesCreated by P H

The proposed site is very close to New southgate Recreation Ground, Several schools, and Nurseries nearby, Oakleigh Road South is already very busy with traffic and Hundreds more lorries would increase Pollution, Noise, accidents and fires. Our environment will be severely compromised as people will be blighted by the constant noise, traffic congestion dirty smelly air which in time will make residents sick from the pollution, the roads will get damaged from the constant heavy traffic, not to mention the value of our homes going down.106 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Esra Musa

Disposal of nuclear waste - right to challenge under threatIf this piece of legislation goes ahead then there will be virtually no way to stop nuclear waste dumps being foisted on communities around the UK without any way to challenge them - the Secretary of State would have overall power to enforce anything considered to be of 'National Significance'. This will remove the rights of local authorities to challenge the decision around where to locate these sites.111 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Lucy Rees

Stop the privatisation of UK Planning Portal. It’s been a while coming but it has been revealed that TerraQuest has been chosen by DCLG to partner with them in a joint venture to provide the ongoing delivery and commercialisation of the Planning Portal service. This has been quietly processed to avoid the public having their say. The joint venture has claimed it will not charge applicants or LPAs for using the Portal’s 1App planning application service [yet] and that a new and improved 1App and website will be delivered by TerraQuest’s prime subcontractor Civica, later in 2015. They say existing service will remain in place until the new website is launched – they promise there will be no disruption to the public, but how can privatisation of a core planning service be in the public interest? It is the intention to transfer staff to the new business before the end of the financial year however the JV is subject to final negotiation and therefore any questions regarding the process of commercialisation should be urgently directed to the Minister to question how the government can justify this conflict and prevent this public service being privatised. Why privatise something that is not intended to make money and that is presently free to everyone?97 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Christopher Brummitt

Council excessive chargingRecent figures show that the councils are making excessive money; Figures from the RAC revealed councils in England made a combined £667m profit from parking fines last year. In an economic state where: Children are going to school hungry, while some parents are going for days without eating in order to feed them, according to a charity. The Trussell Trust is calling for a public inquiry into the reasons behind a surge in the use of food banks. How can we stay quiet and let the councils attack us, we need to challenge the councils on the following matters: 1) Excessive penalty means no difference of lesson taught 2) Councils using nasty bailiffs and debt collection agencies to extract money 3) Figure to state where the money is being spent 4) The councils must ensure that they are not Breach of contract Law Reform (Frustrated Contracts) Act, 1943 section 3, Misrepresentation Act 1967 section 2, Unfair Contract Terms Act 1977 5) That they are not breaching Human rights Act Article 5,6,7,8,11,12 6) The council is acting within Taking control of goods, national standards 2014 Paragraph 66 (relates to excessive levy) 7) That all road marking on public highway comply with The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2002 8) The Civil Enforcement of Parking Contraventions (England) General Regulations 2007 Part 2 Regulation 9 is not being breached We need to unite and regain control while the economy of this country is suffering and while some parents are going without food just to pay rent / mortgage and their bills. The councils are making excessive profits of millions why because we are letting them, by signing this campaign we can start to make a change !21 of 100 SignaturesCreated by saj noor

Defend Private Tenants in Tower HamletsTower Hamlets has the fourth most expensive private rents in the country. But if you live here, you live amongst one of the poorest populations in the UK. The cost of housing is forcing working class people out of the borough. Landlords - including so-called social Landlords - are looking to make a fast buck, some have resorted to driving out existing tenants. We pledge to defend tenants against eviction. Tower Hamlets' housing crisis continues with 20,000 on the council waiting list 8,000 of whom live in accommodation unfit for habitation. This is forcing many, particularly young people, out of the borough.14 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Neil Cafferky

protect our natural world form further harmJohn Swinney promised his would be the 'greenest government ever'. Yet he's come out in clear support of fracking, a new way of extracting yet more dirty fossil fuels, just when the UK should be leading the world in moving to clean renewable power. I call on John Swinney to focus on clean, safe and renewable energy solutions instead. I call on you all to reconsider your position on hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, immediately and instead champion energy sources which do not risk our global climate, local environment or our health. in the parish of Airth ( Letham) 7 people i know have bowel cancer i lady aged 86 ( my mother in law) died of it in 2010 my ex husband + 1 living in Letham have skin cancer , an have both had 3 opeartiontoremove living tissue numerous people living and working in Letham have kidney cancer and other ailments the govt insisted at Aorth Castle last week that they could issues CPOs to the local farmers this is not a greener Scotland this is a death sentence Signed, Sonia McLay24 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Sonia McLay

DON'T DEMOLISH CRYSTAL PALACE ATHLETICS STADIUMThe Crystal Palace Stadium is part of our athletics heritage and is an important training facility for aspiring athletes as it has an outdoor & indoor track. This stadium has hosted major sporting events for decades, and could continue to do so for many years to come if development of the site retains the Stadium & indoor training facilities33 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Adrian Coulman

New Look For Admiralty Square / Pepys EstateLocal residents, particularly the hundreds whose homes overlook Admiralty Square, rarely get to enjoy this green space. There is nothing attractive about it. It is made even less appealing by the frequent dogs taken there to foul (who sometimes fight). It is not considered by local residents as clean nor safe nor likeable. A traditional and historic London square such as this, is somewhere that should be embraced, nurtured and shared by the community - not forgotten, neglected and avoided.47 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Janet Martin
