Stop Fracking: Tom ClarkeHorizontal hydraulic fracturing, ‘fracking’, is a way of extracting oil and/or gas. Water, sand and toxic chemicals are injected at high pressure into underground rocks to shatter them. This releases the gas/oil which can be collected. But investing in carbon-intensive fossil fuels is a distraction from the need to decarbonise our electricity supply. And it's hazardous. Studies show that fracking pollutes water supplies (with arsenic and lead), causes earthquakes, and spoils local communities. And there are nightmare stories coming form the States. Like in the town of Dimock, PA, residents have reported their water turning so brown that it stains crockery. Their water was later found to contain methane, and a host of toxic chemicals. But it gets worse. "My son had sores up and down his legs from the water." " My daughter... would have to get out the of the shower and lay on the floor." Those are the words from Greg Saunter, a local resident, whose water supply was shut off for his own good. He cannot shower in his own home. Or drink water out of his taps. Fracking has ruined his life. It cannot happen here. We call on the council to preserve the quality of life of its residents, and reject all planning applications for fracking.8 of 100 Signatures

Stop Fracking in Scotland. Keep our landscape clean and fresh!Fracking ruins our landscape or water and our farms. We do not benefit at all from this action which our prime minister had allowed right after our referendum. He has sold the land under your feet. The land we pay taxes on. This is our heritage and it is going to be destroyed. Help us stop Fracking NOW. They have our oil what more do they want? Protect your future and our kids future! We don't want contaminated Air, water or land animals. We love our fresh council water! We don't want lower life expectancy.115 of 200 SignaturesCreated by stacey lockhart

A NEW MILK MARKETING BOARDMost milk production and milk products stay within the UK, so the price of milk should reflect the cost of production within the uk. And in doing so ensure the viability of the dairy industries which are hugely important for the long term success of the UK economy and the countryside.17 of 100 SignaturesCreated by john phillips

We say NO to TESCO Express at Prettygate, ColchesterThe planning officer originally made a mistake in allowing the amendment through without having the authority. He then over-turned it but was over-ruled by the Chief Executive. This has opened the door to TESCO to open a TESCO Express 100 yards from an existing local CO-OP without any public say on the matter. Over 500 people have signed a petition already and we want to recruit more supporters. Many have said they would like to sign a petition online, hence this campaign. If you have signed the paper copy you don't need to sign this one as both will be presented to the Council in due course. Please spread the word via social media.34 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Steven Dale

Traffic calming in WoodmansterneLetter sent to MP: I write to you requesting your urgent attention on the untenable traffic situation in Carshalton Road which is becoming virtually impossible to access my stables without fear of accident. We raised this issue in 2010, yet it was deemed not dangerous enough to warrant action given that nobody had been killed. This I found to be completely unacceptable and I have had no other option than taking this matter further again giving how significantly worse the situation has become. To ignore it, and literally wait for an accident to happen would be neglectful and irresponisble. I do not wish to have it on my conscience that I had not done all that I could to protect the safety of myself, my animals and others should a serious accident occur. I would therefore strongly urge you to challenge the previous response I received and argue that nobody should have to die unnecessarily on this road before action is taken. Cars and Lorries consistently exceed speed limits and do not adhere to legal Highway Code requirements by giving no consideration to riders, pedestrians, animals or other traffic. In the past month one of my horses, whilst being ridden by myself, was hit by a car yet the driver did not stop and just continued to drive. Fortunately my horse was fine but I fell and had significant bruising to my thigh and my GP told me that I was lucky not to have been seriously injured. Within the same week, I also witnessed on one occassion school children almost being knocked over, despite them wearing high visibility jackets and being carefully escorted by their school teacher. These are not an isolated incidents and in fact dangerous driving has now become the norm. Other tenants at my stables have been forced to relocate their animals as they can no longer tolerate the situation. They and myself, sadly now feel unable to take our horses out for a ride and enjoy the beautiful green belt that we are fortunate to have on our doorstep, for fear of being killed. My view is shared by many other residents, land owners and tenants on Carshalton Road and we all feel that we are being left vulnerable and in grave danger. I would be extremely grateful for a response and advice as to how we can resolve this dangerous situation. You and your colleagues would be more than welcome to visit my stables and witness the situation for yourselves should you require it. Looking forward to receiving your response. King regards, Miss Jacqueline Cooksey94 of 100 SignaturesCreated by clare stringer

Dredge the River TyneIf the continuing build up of sediment continues and annual rainfall increases it is only a matter of time till more major flooding takes place along the banks of the River Tyne and more subsidence occurs, if dredging could be done it would create jobs as well as create leisure opportunities on the river with a more free flowing river.89 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Aidan Cairns

Stop Fracking In ScotlandI believe that fracking has highly potential health risks and can lead to contaminated water courses and soils. It can also lead to birth defects in children due to the chemical used in fracking up to 200 at the least.89 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Ricky Stewart

Residents parking scheme in CarnforthOver a number of years the air quality, road safety and quality of life have been negatively effected by the ever increasing traffic flow and visitor numbers to this lovely part of England. Unfortunately, due to Carnforth being on the border of Cumbria and having a relatively small populous, the needs of the residents have been overlooked for a number of years. The need for a residents parking scheme has been proven, but Lancashire County Council constantly push those residents that have been asking for a scheme on a merry-go-round of being fobbed off and quoted that other areas are more important.13 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Simon Withey

SAVE THE ALDERMAN WRAITH SCHOOLBecause the old school is an important part of Spennymoor's heritage, lots the inhabitants of County Durham were schooled there, it should be a listed building and is certainly a heritage building, it has been left without maintainance probably on purpose to run the building down. It was used as recently as last year for a production of George Gently. It has a large school field attached to it that could well be used for outdoor sports and certainly a running track or rubgy pitch or both, the whole area is short of play areas for children at this end of Spennymoor so all the land could be put to good use, rather than more houses I think we have done our bit for the government/council as far as new houses are concerned.9 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Joan Scott

SAVE THE ALDERMAN WRAITH SCHOOLBecause the old school is part of our heritage there are people in County Durham whose careers were started in this school, the building has been left without maintenance for a number of years, this is a grand old building and could be put to better use as a Youth Club there are lots of rooms which could be used for various projects, the huge school field could be used as a running track for budding athletes, there is enough room for a rubgy/football/cricket pitches, the children at this end of Spennymoor are lacking playing areas. I think Spennymoor has more than done their bit with regards to houses, the government/county council should now be looking elsewhere for spare land to build more houses, we are inundated and don't need more. The building was used recently for a BBC1 production of George Gentley and there must be other uses to numerous to mention here where the old school could be used.45 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Joan Scott

SAVE 55 BROADWAY55 Broadway is London’s first skyscraper and part of British heritage. TFL has just revealed its proposed residential re-design of the iconic Grade 1 Listed building. If allowed to proceed, TFL will take a Grade 1 listed public body building into multiple private ownership (of apartments) and therefore out of public access. In a shocking show of greed, TFL even proposes to construct concrete newbuilds to obliterate the historic garden terraces on the 10th floor . These gardens famously offer impressive views from the unique location of the building, significantly positioned by TFL’s visionary leader Frank Pick to be midway between Buckingham Palace and the Houses of Parliament. One of the gardens was even dedicated in honour of an early environmental campaigner associated with TFL. The form and proportions of the original building and Charles Holden’s vision will be damaged irreparably. It is obvious that if the original architect considered it aesthetic and safe, the extra floor would already exist instead of the gardens. Funded by tax-payers, TFL calls itself a ‘custodian’ of London property. What kind of custodian except one acting in breach of duty and good faith will pursue cynical financial gain at the expense of history and our legacy? It must also be a matter of concern whether the rest of the building from the 1920s, is best preserved by a new construction on its wings. TFL is trying to sell off one of our most important heritage assets designed by Charles Holden as apartments to the rich. What next – the Houses of Parliament? Reckless renovation of our heritage for unsuitable use as multi-unit luxury apartments will destroy the soul of our city. TFL is supposed to connect and unite the city. How does it reconcile its ethos and reason for existence with converting its iconic HQ – our heritage as much as theirs - into private apartments for the rich? How does this ‘benefit the city’ (TFL’s own words) and tax-payers?150 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Christian Collins
