• Mandatory education until 18 should mean discounted fairs until 18 using public transport
    Are you aware the government introduced new legislation last year making it mandatory that young people must stay in some form of fulltime education until the age of 17 years of age, next year it is scheduled to go to 18 years of age before being legally allowed to earn an income. Currently public transport within the UK doesn't reflect this, they are still going by the old law in regards to 16 years of age, The reason the age was set at under16 was because if mandatory to be in fulltime education for a further two years, it takes away their rights from earning an income of their own and the parents and guardians to carry the ever raising costs. This affects everyone either directly or by association, we are officially out of recession so no reason to make this happen as government seem to have not considered this fact. Even now when I contact my local authority which was recently criticized for the leader of the council in Bucks for awarding himself around £250,000,That is more than the prime minister earns by a lot, to run a county. Also Over £100,000 a year is going into the pay packets of 21 council workers across Buckinghamshire, each county isn't that different, as far as I am aware.     East Coast Trains is contributing money back to the UK economy and is the best example of why a state owned public service is best kept public. With a possible change of Government so soon after the selling of this franchise, it's sale should be delayed to allow a (possible) Labour Government keep the company state owned

  • BUS FLOOR TO ROOF HEIGHT INAPPROPRIATE
    The current floor to roof height is low and a passenger is not going to always realise that the height of the vehicle is low that they will bend over and duck their heads to sit in the rear of the bus, especially as all buses other than this newly introduced bus have relatively ample head height when accessing all bus seats. A passenger made a complaint that they literally hurt themselves experiencing neck and head pains approximately 3 days after the incident, that they felt the need to make a complaint after stepping up on a step to access a rear seat they hit themselves firmly on the head on the low floor panel of the bus. Contrary, to the findings of the Automotive Engineer - Defects Investigation, Andrew M Tudor, in his letter dated 4 August 2014, who feels "VSB accepts that the head room at the rear of the vehicle is restrictive, however, this should be clear to occupants, as the roof panel remains level, the floor level raises as it progresses down the bus with a number of steps in it and the view clearly shows that the amount of head room for the rear seats is restrictive." Obviously, this statement that VSB accepts is not the case for all passengers travelling on the bus that choose to make their way to sit in the rear seats for any reason, which in the case of the person that made the complaint was to sit in one of the only available seats on a crowded bus.

  • Stop HGV's and Buses using Queensway
    Constant flow of children in area. The road serves 3 Primary Schools and 2 High schools. The present speed ramps do not deter vehicles to slow down in fact the opposite. A 7.5 ton weight limit would stop lorries and buses and Chicanes would reduce the speed of all other vehicles

  • A more relevant Vehicle Road Tax system
    Cars today [2014] are essential, this may because local transport is lacking or the many reasons why so many Brit's commute. Many cars have only one occupant. Cars have become Egotistical Status symbols. They are lasting longer and longer and are now so cheap to buy (pre-owned) the UK has a log-jam problem and a serious parking problem. The current Gov's Road Tax system is abused and should be geared to the smaller car whilst penalising i.e. - HUGE 4x4's used totally out of context.

    Amazon has avoided tax in the tens of billions of pounds and it is inappropriate for them to be given such high profile locations to promote themselves and sell to the public whilst starving the public purse of much needed tax revenue and taking advantage of job losses at TFL with the closure of ticket offices.

  • Tell Northern Rail they can't Silence the Press
    On Monday 23rd June, a peaceful protest by members of Sheffield Disabled People Against The Cuts and Barnsley Retirees Action Group was broken up by British Transport police. The protesters were taking part in the Freedom Ride, a long-running protest against cuts to free travel provision in South Yorkshire. Witnesses report that the police used heavy handed tactics. One witness, Jen Dunstan, of Sheffield Disabled People Against the Cuts, said: “Dozens of elderly and disabled people have been left with bruising. Some have cuts where their skin has broken from being pushed and shoved. “A placid and calm gentleman was roughly manhandled. I am angry and shocked. The police are meant to protect elderly people.” A journalist from the Sheffield Star was present, and tried to video events on his phone. He was ordered to erase footage he’d recorded on his phone because he did not have permission to film on private property inside Sheffield station. When he initially resisted the request and continued to film, he says he was told he could be arrested under terror laws. A statement from Northern Rail said: “Members of the media must have written permission from the train operator which manages the station before undertaking any filming on station property. Under no circumstances are Northern Rail employees to be filmed without prior agreement from the Northern Rail press office.” Fortunately, other witnesses were able to video the behaviour of the police on Northern Rail's property. In the video, five burly police officers are pinning the elderly gentleman down so that he cannot move, despite no visible signs of protest or resistance from him. It is not within the rights of Northern Rail, or any other organisation, to try to ban filming on their premises, when that filming clearly shows a questionable activity taking place with the collusion of that organisation. It is anti-democratic to try to silence the press in this way. Please sign this petition to force Northern Rail to retract their statement, and issue an apology that recognises the right of journalists and the public to film wherever they wish when a breach of a person's rights is taking place.

    There is no need to use a phone when driving and no call is more important than another persons life. Our roads are more dangerous because of people ignoring the law and they can do this because the risk of getting caught is low and the penalty is insignificant.   • Save our grass verges in Plumstead Road East. Taxpayer's money wasted!
    This area is public and the grass was put there for all to enjoy not for a few to destroy. Money is wasted paying grass cutters where there is little grass left in some places. You can't even walk your dog on the grass because of lorries and cars blocking the way. It's also dangerous for the cars trying to leave their own driveway as their vision is obstructed. Now there is a hole in the ground caused by vehicles parking on the grass verge. How much will it cost to repair that?

  • Fair use of Concessionary Pass for those who live within TfL Zones that not run by London Boroughs
    The residents who live within TfL zone 6 who have London Freedom Pass are recognisable accepted to use all TfL transport and National. ENCTS passes are not. It is because some areas within TfL zone 6 are not managed bt the London Borough Councils. As we live within TfL zone 6 and managed by Tanridge Council (Surrey), those residents who live in London have Freedom Pass take their granted for using our nearest railway stations for free travel to/from London that our ENCTS disabled concessionary pass cannot. This is unfair. Have they met the Equality Act 2010 regarding our concessionary passes that are limited use whilst people with London Freedom Passes can be used everywhere in England including all TfL transport? I discovered that the funds for TfL are partly from the Central Government Fund where we pay our taxes, why we don't have this benefit?
