Disabled people can no longer park near to the parcel collection office. Instead, a taxi rank has been painted where disabled access used to be. Many people with a disability who are unable to walk far can no longer collect their own parcel. This discriminates against disabled people and impacts their independence.

Evington ward has the highest proportion of elderly people in Leicester. Without this 54 bus service, residents along Gamel Walk, Gamel Road, Harringworth Road, Skampton Road, Davenport Road, Withcote Avenue, Oakside Road and Beechwood Close are effectively being cut off from access to medical care, shopping facilities and contact with the outside world. Isolation and loneliness in the elderly costs the NHS a lot of money. If the route was reversed and both the 54 and 54A buses were going the same way, then the turning would be better and there would be less likelihood of congestion.

Local authorities are able to provide rural bus services which would not be viable if under private ownership; they can cross subsidise them from more profitable urban services. Local authority bus services must be an option within the Bus Services Bill. In Nottingham, the Nottingham City Transport has invested in electic buses and hydrogen fuelled transport which is reducing air pollution in Nottingham. They are an award-winning service. The private buses are predominantly diesel.

Due to shorter daylight hours in Scandinavia, vehicles there have been fitted with Front Daytime Running Lights. These have recently been introduced on all new vehicles sold in the European Union vehicles. Unfortunately, REAR TAIL Lights ARE NOT SIMULTANEOUSLY ACTIVATED! This leads to vehicles being driven in darkness without tail lights, their drivers believing that their tail lights are lit because they see their Front Daytime Running Lights illuminated. I have recently e-mailed Ms. Dianne Abbott, my constituency MP and the Shadow Home Secretary abotu this matter, but I am still awaiting her response.

This area has become increasingly populated with young families and children. Our children are forced to walk, cross and attempt to make school Transportation in a highly dangerous and om some of the most dangerous pedestrian areas in N.I. There are cars speeding up to 80mph on these roads, and the village doesn't contain one safe passage way for a child. Children are walking and crossing on blind bend's, nonpaved roads and blind spots upro a horrendous 8 times per day with out so much as a pedestrian crossing yet still expected to reach there school transportation in the village Main Street safely. This is particularly unfair for disadvantaged families who have no transportation, are disabled or have disabled children. I wish to raise awareness around my child making it to school everyday alive and that ofnorhers or a safer alternative put in place.as a temporary measure immediately.

Many many lives within the local community have been touched and sadly affected by the incident at Sandilands. It is only right that a permanent memorial is created nearby where Family, friends and further members of the public can come and pay thier respect. It would be the right to do this given the huge sentiment and sorrow within the local community.

Imposing these changes will cause a lot of the local drivers who make a honest living will be forced out of work, many of the residents of Rossendale depend on these local taxis, and these new proposals will wipe out the taxi trade in Rossendale.
