  • Catmose College - hot weather uniform policy
It is both unfair and unsafe to expect students to wear the prescribed uniform which includes black blazers, ties and tights, in spells of hot weather. The relaxing of these items is In order to promote health and wellbeing and to maximise concentration levels amongst students. This is practiced within all major uniformed associations such as military and emergency services. Guidance should also be observed by NHS England http://www.nhs.uk/Livewell/Summerhealth/Pages/Heatwave.aspx After a short and frank discussion this morning with the Headteacher on this issue, my suggestions were met with a degree of negativity. Whilst a decision was made to relax the uniform with an impending high of 29 degrees C, comments were made to suggest there have been no complaints from either Parents or Students, one which I aim to prove is not the case. Therefore, I would like to call on all Parents and Guardians who have children at this school to support this petition and ensure a fair and safe policy is adopted. Contrary to comments posted on social media by the school, yesterday is believed to be the first time the uniform was officially relaxed through a notification to all staff from the Head Teacher, bizarrely this was after pressure on FB and my face to face conversation with the Head. I am not in search of glory, but it needs to be made clear this was down to pressure, which this petition further enhances. Thank you all in advance😉

  • Hold Tommy Robinson (EDL) accountable
Considering the UK has seen a number of terror attacks over the weeks, it is imperative hate preachers like Tommy who have a history of anti muslim behaviour are stopped immediately. Social media is awash with numerous examples of Tommy Robinsons anti muslim views. Such views could have motivated the attack in Finsbury Park and need to be investigated urgently to avoid a repeat. Far right extremism is on the rise and innocent Muslims are suffering. Tommy has said the Mosque near to where people were mown down created 'Radical Jihadists' and was promoting 'hate and segregation'. This will create further fear and hatred of Muslims and may motivate radicals to act against Muslims by launching further attacks. For the betterment of community relations this needs to be investigated urgently.

  • Closing schools during extrem hot weather.
High temp causes children to become lethargic. It also causes head aches, dizzesness, confusion, loss of appetite, a feeling of sickness, cramps, higher BP and pulse, Heat exhaustion can lead to full blown heat stroke. What is the point of making our children ill when they can't learn anything due to feeling so bad due to the heat. We need to put our children's health first. Our weather is changing due to climate change every year. It's going from one extrem to another. From bitter cold to torrential rain. Now we are starting to get hit by the heat for weeks on end.

  • Stop the aerial spraying of toxic chemicals on Dartmoor.
This chemical is a toxic carcinogen, which will contaminate groundwater, soil, flora, and fauna. Most of Devon's water supply will become contaminated with Asulox, as the rivers start on Dartmoor. Grazing animals avoid areas sprayed with Asulox for many years, (thus giving them less food, year round, or them being forced to eat what they would like to refuse). The spraying is pointless, as in a short time the areas look as they did before they were sprayed. There are safer, sustainable methods. Please make it a priority to sign and share as widely as possible. We only have a short time, as spraying is due to start on July 1st. The safety data sheet says : S -phrase(s) S24 - Avoid contact with skin S37 - Wear suitable gloves S57 - Use appropriate container to avoid environmental contamination S60 - This material and its container must be disposed of as hazardous waste This product (Asulam) was banned by the EU. It was renamed Asulox https://www.harrells.com/resources/exports/file?n=ASULOX&t=sds Join the Facebook group to learn more https://www.facebook.com/groups/1897490687171289 This is useful information https://www.facebook.com/groups/1897490687171289/permalink/1899936393593385/

  • National Day of Mourning and Remembrance
A great number of people perished in the Grenfell Tower disaster. This has been a tragedy on a national scale, in particular as so many children are counted among the deceased. Equally, the recent Westminster attack, the Manchester bombings, the London Bridge attack and the Finsbury Park attacks have collectively resulted in extensive loss of life and serious injury. To date, there has not been a coherent 'official' response which recognises, humanely, the enormity of these events and which fully acknowledges their collective impact. Is it not time for the UK to move beyond the '1 minute silence' gesture to a fuller recognition of the scale of the recent events, and provide a means whereby feelings of sympathy and solidarity with the survivors and their respective communities may be more fully expressed? A National day of Mourning and Remembrance would allow citizens to do this. Please sign this petition if you would like the Government to announce a National Day of Mourning and Remembrance which will show your support for the best of Britain, an open, tolerant society which cares equally for all of its citizens.

  • Emergency accommodation for Grenfell Tower victims
It is obscene that foreign investors can buy up and leave unoccupied these properties whilst in this country there is a dire affordable housing shortage. It is a sad indictment of our society, and in particular of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, that this state of affairs is allowed to exist.

  • Consultation regarding the future of Drayton Green Primary School
As parents/carers of children at Drayton Green Primary School we are writing to you to express our dismay and concern over the forthcoming strike action on 20/21 June and potential further dates. Whilst we appreciate the complexities of the situation and the difficulties both sides face, we don't understand why it appears that the governors are not communicating with the school community.   The school community would like the Governing Body to hold an information meeting before the end of the academic year so that we can understand your concerns, what investigations are taking place and what outcomes you hope to achieve.  The school community need reassurance that their concerns matter and that the Governing Body will listen to them.  By not sharing any information to date, many are making the assumption that there is nothing to discuss as decisions regarding academy status for the school have already been made. We are also asking that this petition is recognised as a formal complaint for allowing the situation to reach a point where our children are now being denied schooling. Yours sincerely Drayton Green Primary School Parents & Carers

  • Better train services for Davenport and Woodsmoor
Over the past 7 years there has been huge growth in use of both Davenport (41% up) and Woodsmoor (56% up). Many people rely on the trains for travel to work (commuting to Manchester and beyond, commuting to Stepping Hill hospital), visiting patients at Stepping Hill, travelling to education (Aquinas college, Stockport school, Great Moor School, Stockport Grammar) and for leisure trips. Northern should be held to account and fulfill their need to ‘transform’ rail services, a word they have been so keen to use in their PR but so reluctant to deliver in their actions

  • Keep our beach clean
Other than making our beautiful beach look ugly the majority of the rubbish will end up in the ocean which is terrible for the environment and wildlife. It is also dangerous for beach users, left over bottles can be broken and glass can then be easily stepped on bearing in mind most people aren't wearing shoes.
