• BBC Radio Scotland reverse the decision to remove music from your programming
BBC radio scotland plays a vital role in the Scottish music industry as it supports genres of music that would otherwise not get exposure, World Music, Americana, Folk and many others, there is no need for another talk only radio station in scotland but there is a need for diverse programming that caters to something other than mainstream tastes. As a musician and a music lover from Scotland I would understand if there were many alternatives in this country but quite frankly there aren't, so please do not get rid of something that is not only valued but unique.

  • Ditch Plastic Bottles at Wimbledon
It is predicted that by 2050, there will be more plastic by weight in our oceans than fish. At the moment, the Wimbledon tournament is screened to hundreds of millions of viewers around the world - with images of tennis players and spectators, consuming and throwing bottle after bottle away. Discarded bottles are littered across the courts. Even players are speaking out calling for a ban on single-use plastic bottles at Wimbledon. And British number one - Johanna Konta- wants the All England Lawn Tennis Club to take action. Lord’s Cricket Ground and Glastonbury festival have announced they are both banning plastic bottles at future events. The All England Tennis Club should follow suit. Now is the time for them to take environmental responsibility by not supplying players and others with throwaway plastic bottles at Wimbledon.

  • Bring Pearl Home
In the early 60's the sculptor James Butler RA was commissioned by Maxwell Fry, the architect who designed much of Hatfield Town Centre, to produce a fountain for White Lion Square, which he did and it was subsequently installed and formally unveiled on 18th April 1970. The fountain was decommissioned in 1986 and the centrepiece sculpture, carved from Portland and Derby stone, of a reclining female nude in a shell, locally known as ‘Pearl’, was moved to Hatfield School. The school closed and the site became New Barnfield Library and Resource Centre, which in turn has also closed. In early 2013 the sculpture was removed from the former school site, some minor restoration work was done to it and it is currently languishing in a storage yard forlornly waiting to be re-situated, in a prominent location that’s as yet to be decided despite numerous requests, in Hatfield, where it rightfully belongs. We, the undersigned, request that as part of the forthcoming redevelopment of White Lion Square that the iconic sculpture of a Reclining Nude in a Shell, ‘Pearl’ by James Butler RA, which formally constituted the centre piece of the fountain in the square, that was commissioned and created specifically for White Lion Square, be reinstated in a prominent location back in White Lion Square. The sculpture ‘Pearl’ was created by James Butler RA who is an internationally renowned artist as a site specific piece to adorn White Lion Square and as such it forms part of Hatfield’s historical and cultural heritage. Every effort should be made to return it to its intended location so that it can once again be enjoyed by the public and once again form a focal point within the square, as was its original intention.

The free shuttle serves everyone in society including the vulnerable, elderly and disabled. It benefits local businesses and has helped reduce congestion and traffic into our town centre. It is time to stand up to the Council and be heard, remember your signatures count!

  • LIFT THE EMBARGO ON NORTHERN CYPRUS
The Ottomans owned the island of Cyprus peacefully for centuries. The British took the island off the Ottomans by default during the war. Britain offered to cede Cyprus to Greece if they would fulfill treaty obligations to attack Bulgaria, but Greece declined. The Greeks have never owned Cyprus. The supposed "illegal war" in 1974 was started by a GREEK JUNTA who was not only killing the Turkish Cypriots, but also the Greek Cypriots and possibly the British there too. It's worth pointing out that the 2 wars in Cyprus, in the 60's and 70's were not started by the Turkish Cypriots. Turkey stepped in to save their ancestral people who are a minority on the island and who were being overpowered by the forces used against them. However this was seen as an illegal action, although morally it was the right thing to do. I would like to think that we would do the same as Turkey, if our citizens abroad were at risk of being wiped out in a country we used to own. No embargo was put on Greece for the Greek Junta starting the war, nor Turkey for their supposed "illegal" actions of protecting the citizens of Cyprus against the Greek Junta and his army. Instead the embargo was put on Northern Cyprus and the Turkish Cypriots who were the victims in this war. It's morally wrong to penalise the victims of a war, whereas the supposed perpetrators get no embargo put against them. The people of Northern Cyprus have had to struggle along for decades and it's only in more recent years that Turkey has started helping them more. I strongly feel that the embargo on Northern Cyprus and it's residents should be lifted and that part of the island should be recognised as an independent country as the South of the island is. Turkish Cypriots have suffered under this embargo for over 40yrs and enough is enough. They should never have been punished for this in the first place. This petition has been set up in the memory of my Mother in Law who recently passed away and had to live through 3 wars in Cyprus. RIP Sefika Kemal Yenilmez 1925 - 2017

  • Save the Parkwood Springs New Age Traveller Site
The New Age Travellers have been occupying the site next to the Ski Village in Sheffield for approximately 13 years. This has been a home for many people of all ages, beliefs and backgrounds. The occupants have settled there and have looked after the area by cleaning it up, keeping crime down by being security for the surrounding businesses and some grow their own vegetables, herbs and fruit. They have a good relationship with people in the area and have been told by people in the area that they do not have a problem with them living there. Sheffield City Council are wanting to move the travellers as they are wanting to re open the Ski Village as a sports facility. This will make the Travellers homeless and having to find somewhere else to live. This may have an effect on the children living there because they may have to find new schools and may also effect some of the traveller's health. The travellers do not have a problem with the Ski Village reopening in fact they think it is a great idea they just do not want to be evicted because of this. Please would you sign this petition to show the travellers your support and let them keep their home.

  • Make a 'worker voice' law in the UK
Our employment system is creaking under the strain of modern work. It’s not fit for purpose and people (particularly new parents) are slipping through the cracks. A Government review has ‘recommended’ that if 2% of staff demand to be asked about something - anything from flexible working to a pay rise - it should automatically trigger a formal consultation. Together, we can push this recommendation into a full blown right. Making it easier for everyone to get better rights and benefits at work. Can you sign the petition demanding the ‘worker voice’ law gets made?

  • Reschedule bin pick-ups back to every two weeks
All of our neighbours, including ourselves, are storing bags of trash in every nook and cranny of our bungalows, other neighbours bins, or just leaving outside. It is unsanitary and unhealthy. Animals tear them open and spread garbage everywhere. The smell during this hot weather is unbearable plus the increase in the fly population. Many of us are pensioners and this additional burden is not fair to anyone.
