We are extremely concerned that our community, including young children and dogs, and our precious wildlife are being routinely exposed to glyphosate that the World Health Organisation states is 'probably carcinogenic'. You may well be aware that attitudes to wild plants have changed in recent decades and that pristine lawns without wild flowers are now outdated. These plants add colour and interest to our parks. They also serve as indicators of a healthy and safe lawn, both for us and for insect pollinators, especially bees, on whose services we depend for our food. Javad was a young teenage boy when the Bam earthquake killed both his parents in 2003. He was put in an orphanage many miles away in Tehran where he didn't agree with being forced to learn how to use guns or with the extreme religious teaching. To escape this, he ran away. His fear of what might happen to him on his return alone is completely ruling his life preventing him from moving forward. Javad has mental health issues, poor memory and suffers from Autistic Spectrum Disorder which make him appear much younger than he really is and gives him a simplistic view of life. For the first time since his parents died, he has found a family ready to offer him a permanent home. A family who love him and are willing to teach him the basic life skills, support and stable environment. His application for asylum or leave to remain has been rejected by the Home Office. Unless they can be persuaded to change their decision and grant Javad discretionary leave to remain- they will uproot this extremely vulnerable young man again and send him back to a place he barely remembers and where he has nothing.

The Church has a commitment to justice for the poor who are already suffering the worst effects of climate change and have done little to cause it. More frequent and intense hurricanes and flooding, longer and more frequent droughts and sea-level rise is already a reality that millions face across the globe, especially in the developing world. Climate changing is having a negative impact on food security leading to famine and conflict. In addition to the thousands of fatalities caused by these climate disasters many more people are forced from their homes. We accept the science that climate change is being driven by human emissions of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide. We acknowledge that this is primarily caused by the burning of fossil fuels. We accept, as has been internationally agreed, global temperature rise should be limited to less than 2°C to avert the worst impacts of climate change. The fossil fuel companies have 5 times more coal, oil and gas in their reserves than we can safely burn and stay below 2°C global temperature rise. If no action is taken then these reserves will be burnt and the resulting climate change will be catastrophic. We must keep the oil in the soil, the coal in the hole and the gas beneath the grass. The church should take a moral stand and withdraw its investment from the fossil fuel industry.

I used to work at BHS. Between 2009 - 2012 I sold furniture in Store 255, Reading Gate. The people I worked with made it one of the best jobs I've ever had. When the store was closed in 2012, the owner (at that time Phillip Green) tried to get away with providing the least possible support for those of us laid off. But we stuck together, campaigned and won a better deal. Today, BHS is on the verge of collapse. 11,000 jobs - people just like me and my old friends - are at risk. On top of that, the company has a £571 million pension deficit. Some employees have saved all their life. Now their pensions are at risk. And why? Greens Greed - and others like him. Cold, callous and heartless greed. The story of BHS's bankruptcy is one of theft and asset-stripping on a massive scale. Green took £580m+ out then sold the company for £1. The next owner, twice bankrupt Dominic Chappell, has taken millions more. Green underfunded the pension scheme - while paying his wife £400 million in BHS dividends, all channeled through a tax haven. Now the ship is sinking, while Green takes delivery of his new £100 million superyacht. I don't work at BHS anymore. Today, I run ACORN, a national organisation made of 15000 low-middle income renters, service workers, claimants and others, fighting against inequality and for a fairer deal. I want to use this petiton to help BHS workers organise together and win the best outcome possible (if you're a worker, let us know!) BHS collapse could drive 11,000 more people into poverty, welfare and zero-hours contracts risking homes and health. Green, Chappell and the rest must be held liable and made to pay for their crime. An injustice against all the 96 people who died was inflicted upon the bereaved families. Their efforts to bring out the truth behind the deaths has been heroic, persistent and unbelievably difficult. They deserve public recognition of their service to British justice.

We now find that they have promoted Mr. Cleland Sneddon to the most senior council officer post of Chief Executive Mr. Sneddon in one of his first acts when arriving at Argyll and Bute Council was to try and close 26 rural schools which would have destroyed the fragile communities that they represented. Our elected officials supported him in his actions and it was only the concerted efforts of the communities concerned that stopped the process in its tracks, by showing just how wrong he and the council were in their calculation of the costs and effect of the closures. Mr. Sneddon chooses not to live within Argyll and Bute, but to commute from his home within the central belt. He has worked with the elected officials to oppose community projects such as Castle Toward, and as a result has assisted in the decline of the population of the region. This petition calls for Argyll and Bute council to reverse the decision to promote Mr. Sneddon to the position of Chief Executive. It also calls for the Scottish Government to intervene in the running of Argyll and Bute council. To examine the impact of the current management of the council on the population of the area, and to consider all options in improving the lot of the population of Argyll and Bute. We the undersigned have no confidence in Argyll and Bute Council having the skills and ability to manage the region, and call for government intervention and assistance in providing a council fit for purpose for its long suffering communities.
