• STOP NEXTUS FROM HAVING TO CLOSE DUE TO NO GOVERNMENT FUNDING
A lot of people who have been sexually abused need this place for counselling - this place needs to be kept open as the waiting list for getting referred by a doctor is to long.

  • Unpaid carers deserve a basic income
For far too long unpaid carers have been taken for granted and left struggling with financial, social and mental/physical health difficulties. It's time for unpaid carers to be properly acknowledged and paid for their immense contributions to society.

  • PIP VOUCHERS, isolating disabled people more than they already are!
Do not make our lives even harder than we already have it! We are human beings, using vouchers can be embarrassing, it may cause mental distress, many of us cannot take changes as many of our lives have been turned upside down by serious health problems. This is inhumane.

  • Stop school fines for holidays
Some parents cannot afford the extortionate price travel companies charge in school holiday times. By the government/Council stating each parent will be fined for taking children on holiday during term time and on the third time taking them to court is unfair on parents who do not have the funds to afford to go on holiday during school holidays. Family holidays are just as important as education. Have a cap on how many days is acceptable each year i.e maximum of 12 days. The government should stop travel companies increasing their price if they want children to holiday during school holidays. This is an unfair law and needs to be stopped.

  • LAUGHABLE CHRISTMAS BONUS OF £10
Living on any benefit means that many people, including families, are struggling. The choice between heating or eating is unacceptable in today’s UK. Being housed, warm, clothed and fed should not be a lottery: at a minimum it should be the norm. To then give this meagre amount is not much use to those who receive it. Bonus suggests extra, a treat: not a couple of loaves of bread with a few bottles of milk. So come on, Mr Stride, do the honourable (as your title implies) thing and raise this Christmas Bonus to the 21st Century.

  • Refurbish Golden Hill Park in Urmston
Refurbishing our local park is essential to enhance community well-being and promote healthy lifestyles. An updated park can provide a safe and attractive space for children to play, encourage outdoor activities for all age groups, and serve as a vibrant community hub for social interactions. Additionally, modernizing park facilities can increase property values and foster a sense of pride among residents. Investing in the park's refurbishment will benefit both the physical and mental health of our community members.

  • Proportional Representation not first past the post
The U.K. is a two party country, which consists of the Conservatives and Labour (some would argue Labour is a lighter shade of blue). The time has come for the system to change so everyone’s views has a voice. For example the Green Party would have 10 people (as of 2nd May 2024) as MPs and not 1. Our voices aren’t heard and with the changes in boundaries by the Conservatives, it is likely that parties with lower votes are less Likely to get an MP.

The loss of meaningful employment within the community To support this 400 year old service, we are calling for the Government and the Post Office to sit down with unions, customers, businesses and the community to put together a fresh strategy that can also develop new services and safeguard its future
