• Increase the Carer's Allowance
I care for my elderly father on a full-time basis, the living wage is £7.20 an hour, but the government only pays me an allowance of £62.10 a week for over 35 hours work. That works out as less than £2 an hour. It's really hard to survive on this paltry amount. I’ve worked all my life, but unfortunately last November I had to stop work to care for my 83-year-old father. I care for my father for over 35 hours a week. It’s extremely hard going as I have to do everything for him, his shopping, washing his clothes, giving him his medication and taking him to hospital. As a carer you end up entirely devoting your time to someone else and are all trying our hardest for a paltry - 62.10 a week. The government have introduced a 'living wage' of £7.20 an hour, I want this to be extended to carers so people are paid fairly for the care work they do.

  • Save Our Sea: Protect the Wildlife of Cardigan Bay
Cardigan Bay provides a home for many species of vulnerable marine life, some species such as the Atlantic grey seal are internationally important. From the reefs and sandbanks, small organisms in the benthos, to the largest population of breeding bottlenose dolphins in the UK, the complex biodiversity of this Bay is what makes it special. We feel that opening up this area to commercial scallop dredging would be detrimental to the ecosystem and significantly impact not only Welsh marine biodiversity but the lives of the local people who depend on the Bay for income, livelihood, and enjoyment. Mae Bae Ceredigion yn gartref i nifer o rywogaethau o fywyd morol bregus, rhai ohonynt – megis morlo llwyd yr Iwerydd – o bwys rhyngwladol. O’r riffiau i’r banciau tywod, o organebau bach y benthos i boblogaeth fwyaf y DU o ddolffiniaid trwynbwl sy’n bridio, y fioamrywiaeth gymhleth hon sy’n gwneud Bae Ceredigion mor arbennig. Teimlwn y byddai caniatáu treillio am gregyn bylchog yn yr ardal yn niweidiol i’r ecosystem ac yn cael effaith sylweddol ar fioamrywiaeth forol Cymru ac ar fywydau pobl leol sy’n dibynnu ar y Bae am incwm, bywoliaeth a mwynhâd.

  • Rip off employment agencies
They have created a system of throw away workers who have no job security and who cannot get access to loans , mortgages or job training. All certificates, licences or training for any job has to be paid for by the worker out of whats left of their wages after they have had to pay for all the employers fees and pay the umbrella company just to be paid for the work they have done. These agencies and payment companies are taking hundreds of millions of pounds that hard working men and women have earned and lining their pockets while the people who have done the actual hard work are left to struggle day to day with no guarantee of work on a daily basis.

  • NO DANGEROUS CUTS TO AVON FIRE & RESCUE SERVICE
In an emergency, every second counts. The cuts being proposed by Avon Fire & Rescue Service would compromise our ability to get to an emergency quickly and would limit our use of vital, specialist equipment to fight fires and rescue people. The cuts would mean the loss of 49 firefighter jobs, removal of full time cover at night from Yate Fire Station and downgrading vital aerial appliances and a heavy rescue tender which covers the motorway network. We know times are tight, but these cuts would compromise the safety of the public and of firefighters. Demand that public safety is put ahead of budget cuts. Please sign our petition and say NO to dangerous cuts. Thank you, Avon FBU.

  • Amazon: Provide fair pay and conditions for your staff
To prevent the undermining of living standards and conditions of workers in the UK From the BBC: "Amazon delivery drivers regularly work "illegal" hours and receive less than the minimum wage, it has been claimed. Drivers for agencies contracted by the internet giant told an undercover reporter they were expected to deliver up to 200 parcels a day. Some admitted breaking speed limits to stay on schedule, while others said time was not allowed for toilet breaks." The government tells us that employment figures are doing well, but don't explain that many jobs are zero hours with low and minimum pay rates. This situation undermines workers ability to plan and budget and in many cases causes hardship. The situation with Amazon is at the hard end of this, causing social and financial hardship. The law needs to be changed so that people work for Amazon, thus gaining employee rights, with adequate breaks, holidays and decent pay.

  • Hermes: Treat your drivers fairly
This Friday, thousands of people will be flocking online to cash in on the sales, it’s known as “Black Friday”. But while the bargains keep customers happy, employment loopholes mean that drivers for the delivery company Hermes could earn less than the minimum wage and go hours without a break. Hermes Parcelnet Ltd has already been reported to HMRC by the DWP for this practice but the process takes time. Please help the couriers of this exploitative company by signing this petition.

  • Equal pay for Women.
In the modern, equal and fair Britain of 2016 it is more important than ever that everyone no matter who they are or what gender they may be have equal and fair opportunities regarding work. Britain is a diverse land of many races, religions, sexual preferences and opinions. In the UK we are striving on a whole for equality in all aspects of our lives. So many barriers which once stopped groups of people from having equal opportunities have now been demolished. Yet still there is the pay gap between men and women. Around 90% of job roles in the UK pay men more than women for the same job title. If this is not inequality then its difficulty to comprehend what is. Our head of state; The Queen is a female. Our new post-Brexit Prime Minister; Theresa May is a female and more then ever women are diversifying in their job roles and taking on what was once viewed as "mens jobs". But still the employers of this once great country continue to underpay the hard working women of the UK in comparison to men. If true equality is to be brought upon us and a fair society secured then we must end this (for lack of a better term) sexist scourge on our country. If you believe in feminism, equality, or just empowering the government to make a positive change then please do sign this petition. If you have a mother, sister, girlfriend, auntie or female friend then why not provide them with the equal right to a decent wage just as much as men?

  • End the employment agency/umbrella company rip off
Millions of workers across the UK, from construction workers to IT professionals, are being hit hard in their pay packets. The Umbrella companies make the workers pay their NI contributions (employers NI) as well their own (employees NI). On top of this double NI deduction the company also charges the worker for the 'privilege' of receiving their own money. They call this their 'margin' and can cost as much as £30 a week to the employee. https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.ucatt.org.uk/umbrella-company-con-trick&ved=0ahUKEwicvcjBxvDPAhVsAsAKHdbSDFQQFgg9MAA&usg=AFQjCNF0VVD62uWTQceD9W6OE2JAog9C2g&sig2=UAe8y414tNQmyJAwDvFXHQ

  • Teacher's excessive workload
This has got to stop. It has been going on long enough. Teachers pay has barely increased in the last 8 years. There is no respect for the profession. We are constantly scrutinised, questioned, observed and criticised. The ones losing out are the children as tired, stressed teachers cannot teach to their potential and have no energy to plan and deliver "outstanding" lessons. Let's get together and make a change that is desperately needed.
