In an age of fear inducing, xenophobic, biased media, retractions, edits and apologies have become far too commonplace in many media outlets. Many newspapers have become a voice of fear and oppression, making claims, particularly about benefits claimants and immigrants, which is spreading fear, discontent and creating hostilities, only for these 'stories' to be found out as lies, or 'bent truths', with retractions and apologies published in tiny, tiny squares in the corner of pages, unseen by most, and by that time, the damage is already done. So this petition would suggest that, like students in universities are forced to, that all media outlets must provide valid, reliable and accessible sources for all of their information. This would mean: *Where they got the information, i.e. a person (and how they verified this person, with links to another verifiable source, unless it presents an obvious risk to the person involved, and that risk can be 100% proved), which website they used (for statistics), links to studies used, etc. *How they verified and cross referenced all information before processing it into an article. *Having accessible links to all sources used, where reasonably practicable. This petition would also like to suggest that when/if an error is made by publishers, the retraction/apology is printed on the front page of their publication. The public gain all news knowledge from the media, and when an article is posted which stirs emotions such as anger, fear, hatred, etc and could be seen to promote xenophobia, racism, etc, it is important that the publishers take responsibility for that and inform the public of the truth. This idea could be the foundation for legislation to keep the media unbiased, truthful, informative and in the public interest. For too long, people have been hurt, shamed, stereotyped and damaged by slanderous and false media reporting, as well as discontent introduced by certain publications who insist on inflammatory headlines stating that we as Britons are being 'stolen' from by immigrants, while running adverts for anti-poverty charities on the same pages. The media needs regulation for public interest, and a public forum should be opened for everyone to express their views, so genuine, positive legislation can be formed to protect the public from being fed falsities and tearing our multi-cultural society apart because of misinformation and fear. Sky sports are ruining the beautiful game for the sake of money. Empty grounds, dwindling support and being limited to short highlights on terrestrial television is slowly undermining a great British tradition. We urge Helen Grant to step in and see to it that all sports of "National interests" be given to the masses and not just those who can afford to pay Sky Sports extortionate monthly charges.

THIS WEDNESDAY developer Ballymore intends to chop down all the trees on Town Wharf – part of a big programme of tree removal on the South side of Brentford High Street in preparation for future development. Town Wharf is a small historic harbour formed by a loop in the River Brent. It is home to seventeen people living on boats, over 23 species of birds (including kingfishers) and has a thriving population of extremely rare two-lipped doorsnails that are only found on this stretch of the River Thames (see http://www.lbp.org.uk/downloads/PrioityInverts/ThamesDoorSnail.pdf) Chopping down the trees will destroy the beautiful communal gardens that residents have created over the past decade. It will disrupt birds at the height of the nesting season and damage the habitat of the two-lipped doorsnails who climb the trees to feed off algae on bark and leaves. We strongly challenge the necessity of removing the trees at this point in Ballymore’s Brentford development – years before the developers will be ready to plant replacement trees or create new wetland habitats.

With so much food wasted/unsold and then destroyed or made unfit for consumption by being covered in bleach etc. why not give it to food banks & charities to feed those who have been left in a position that they are unable to feed themselves. Since the Callants (young men) of Hawick Fought and Won the flag from the English camped at Hornshole in 1514 Hornshole has played an important part in the towns history and culture. For the Past 501 years this site has been of great historical intrest to the towns people of Hawick and the removal of such an important location and monument from a Hawick council ward is more than just a line on a piece of paper. We the people of Hawick must get behind this petition to keep this sacred and cherished site within our local boundary.

Homelessness in Liverpool is a massive problem which continues to remain unaddressed. There are over 2000 people in the city who are street homeless or living within hostels. This figure is set to rise dramatically over the next five years as more austerity and cuts are placed upon vital services such as housing, addiction support and mental health programmes. Instead of demonising these people amd further alienating them out of society we should be working together to protect and support them, their safe spaces are being destroyed and their human rights once again are further being jeopardised and breached. Should MTCBC go ahead with the proposed pitch fee increase, this could have a detrimental effect on many of the sporting clubs in the Merthyr borough. The price increase proposed is totally unacceptable and also unaffordable. We would be interested to know how MTCBC can justify such increases when the facilities that many clubs have are so poor. We were told by MTCBC that neighbouring local authorities were charging similar prices but we have found this to be untrue. The outcome of this could be that many clubs would cease, resulting in many people particularly children not being able to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle. something which in this day and age and particularly in this area is of paramount importance.

Tamblyn Way, the forty year old steps down to the beach at Droskyn, is one of the many factors that make Perranporth such a special place. It was named in honour of Mr Tamblyn, a local resident, for all the hard work he did on behalf of the community but four years ago it was closed and remains so with nobody seeming to know what is to become of it.

I feel this is important because attendances in Scottish football are falling, and anything we can do to help bring supporters back should be considered. As long as it's safe ect. I myself would certainly go back, I stopped going mainly because I don't want to sit down at the football. And as long as it's done safely and passes all the relevant health and safety criteria, I don't see what the hold up is?

The use of Food Banks has increased over the last 5 years, and is unlikely to decrease if and when welfare cuts bite. Without access to food banks, more people will, literally, have nothing to eat. As a society can we afford for this to happen? If collection points are available in all the major supermarkets it makes it easier for all of us just to buy a couple of extra items to donate alongside our regular shop. It also raises awareness of food poverty throughout the UK.

This is the biggest single political decision the United Kingdom has faced in the past 40 years and it would be morally repugnant to prevent British Citizens currently resident abroad from voting in the in / out referendum, considering the significance of the decision being made. It is estimated that somewhere in the region of 5.5 million British Citizens currently reside overseas, with nearly 2 million living in the EU. These people move abroad for a variety of reasons, work, family, health or to retire to name but a few. Many have family ties remaining in UK and, contrary to popular opinion, moving overseas does not mean these people have turned their back on the UK. Many continue to take a keen interest in news and political developments back home and despite long-term residence overseas, some continue to be UK taxpayers through occupational pensions, rental of UK properties whilst abroad or from other income derived in the UK. As the law currently stands, once you have resided overseas for more than 15 years, you lose your entitlement to vote in any elections in the UK, whether you are a UK taxpayer or not. We face the situation where many British Citizens are to be denied a say in the long-term future of the UK in relation to the EU and the rest of the world. Their voices should also be heard and rightly so.

Coventry City Council is supporting the proposal that it, alongside other Warwickshire councils in Coventry and Warwickshire’s Local Enterprise Partnership, joins the Greater Birmingham and Solihull LEP and Black Country LEP to form a West Midlands Combined Authority (this has been confirmed as the name of the CA). Despite the fact that many residents have concerns about Coventry playing very much the second fiddle to Birmingham, as it did in the old West Midlands County Council days, our Council is not intending to canvas the opinion of residents through a referendum. I do not believe that such a decision about the City, which will have an impact for decades ahead, should be made without full consultation and an extensive and public discussion of all the pros and cons.
