• RBS Branches Closing in Clydesdale, Scottish Borders and Midlothian South
Not only will this have a devastating impact on the bank workers who are set to lose their jobs, these closures will also have a negative effect on the local communities of Biggar, Carnwath, Douglas, Dunns, Eyemouth, Hawick, Jedburgh, Lesmahagow, Melrose, North Berwick, Penicuik, Selkirk and Strathaven. Those who are older, in poor health, who cannot afford to travel further afield to do their banking, or who run small businesses will be hit hardest by these branch closures.

  • Make Sony remove child abuse scenes from video games
Sony is planning to release Detroit: become human; a video game in which a young girl can be abused and killed by her father. The author of the game, David Cage, says it's a beautiful story and that the girl isn't really a victim as the player can 'choose' to save the victim however the player can also choose not to save the victim and allow her to die at the hands of her father (one of the trailers shows the father's hand around his dead daughter's neck as he says, Daddy's no longer angry). One review, by Damien Lawardom, talks about it as "the most relatable game of 2018", and describes the trailer as a "heart-rending display of domestic abuse". We believe the game to be potentially highly damaging. Abusers will get off on playing the game and young children interacting with the game, in spite of it's age classification, are likely to be inspired to use violence and abuse as a way to solve their own issues. Normalising abuse the way that guns and violence have been in movies, TV and games, sets a terrifying precedent. Please sign this petition and let's stop this game, and others like it, from being classified and released where they include scenes of child abuse. Abuse is a crime not a game.

  • Save our Helpline for parents of disabled children
Each year we support 500 Edinburgh families and we are parents ourselves. We support any family that needs our service - this includes many parents of children with complex needs, life-limiting conditions, or children on the Paediatric High Dependency Unit in hospital. We are a great service saving the tax-payer hundreds of thousands each year by providing early intervention. Here are some heartwarming quotes from parents who have used our service: ‘At a time when I could hardly think straight all of the people I dealt with at Kindred were exceptionally compassionate but also extremely efficient and full of helpful advice and support.’ ‘I felt very alone prior to the contact with Kindred, and overwhelmed by the consequences of our son’s illness.  They understood and offered me free counselling which saved my sanity and probably my marriage.  I am now much more able to cope.  Thank you.’ I always get emotional trying to explain how Kindred have helped me and my family.  Knowing you have help / support should you need it is incredibly reassuring and any / all questions I have are answered 150%.  Couldn’t ask for better support.  Thanks.’ 'The service is like a breath of fresh air.  To be told the diagnosis of your child's condition turns your world upside down.  Then to be put in contact with a service such as Kindred where the staff understand how you are feeling and are there to help is amazing.' 'I love coming to the groups - it is a bit like a fix of normality in my crazy life.  It is very important that the leaders have experience of parenting a child with additional needs and are willing to be open about their own experiences - one of us and understanding of our needs and struggles ..... • Help the people of Raigmore to purchase the Raigmore Bunker
CARE have worked very hard to improve Raigmore Estate with 2 parks and a skatepark already installed, the addition of this bunker and exterior space would greatly improve what we can offer. The Civil Defence and Emergency Service Preservation Trust have transformed a bunker in Dundee and will do the same with this one. This facility will be available for tours and bookings and will be restored to its functional state. In addition CARE plan to run a community cafe, to rent workspace to locals, meeting space for groups and an outdoor area for events. All profits will go back into the community. We would greatly appreciate your support to make this happen.

  • Stop KCC cutting funding for Socially Necessary Bus Services (SNBS)
These bus services are a lifeline to our communities. If these essential services are scrapped, it will have a devastating affect on vulnerable people, the elderly and children amongst others. It will also be highly detrimental to community well-being, along with the local economies in a wide range of areas across Kent. Kent County Council must guarantee its residents the continuation of all of these vital transport services for the health and prosperity of the residents that currently use them, along with growing numbers that will use them in the future.

  • Change the way women’s refuges are funded
The changes, giving LA’s the money for refuges, will lead to refuges being closed because local authorities that are already stretched will be unlikely to want to pay for a woman and her children who have come from out of town( for safety reasons). The LA will want to use the money elsewhere, meaning more women will be killed and injured at the hands of abusive partners. It will also lead to more emotional trauma for children living in abusive households

  • Telford & Wrekin Stop Punching Down On Our Buskers!
This is important for the local buskers and for the community as a whole. with the ever expanding and growing town and ever increasing population comes art and culture. Buskers do a good job of entertaining the public and providing light entertainment generally in a professional and pleasant manner. Some of the buskers in Telford, of which maybe 10 are regular, rely on their busing monies to support them in their daily lives. Food, Water, Electric.. the essentials. It also has farther reaching benefits amongst those who struggle with mental health difficulties who use busking as a way to interact with the community where otherwise they wouldn't. This 'LAW' is designed to remove art and culture and to shut down buskers from being heard. it is supression of the arts for the benefit of big business.

  • Keep our Green Belt GREEN Coventry & Warwickshire
Coventry does not need to build on Green Belt and Warwick DC does not need to build homes for Coventry - Coventry must correct the population data, as the cabinet member for finance, John Mutton, admitted on BBC CWR. On 26 Nov 17, he wrote to local people, "We are well aware of the STUPID NUMBERS that the Office of National Statistics instructed us to use in relation to the number of houses required" The Coventry Local Plan, on which Councilors will vote on 5 Dec 17, will determine where houses go for the next 14 years. Coventry Council has used absurdly high numbers which no one, including experts, believes in. The Council predict that the city will grow twice as fast as any other town in the region - 2x Birmingham, 3x Warwick, and 4x Stratford. Is that possible when jobs growth in Coventry has been mediocre? We can have the homes our children really need and keep our countryside. Building on Green Belt at Keresley, Eastern Green, and Kings Hill will destroy the beautiful Forest of Arden landscape which inspired Shakespeare's 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'. Putting a 'Brownfield First' policy into the local plan, will stop unneeded building on Green Belt, unless it is absolutely necessary.

  • Stop this government removing the deprivation of liberty act
This urgently needs to be questioned and stopped in its tracks before this motion to take away more disabled peoples human rights through the removal of their rights to make decisions for themselves away. The person who knows most about what is best for themselves is they themselves. It seems that this government wants to remove those rights and thus take more and more control of disabled peoples rights from them and families and to place this in the hands of those who have no knowledge or care for those people. My own son was bruised and abused in a care placement he is now returned home to me on these grounds that he should have the right to decide for himself where he wants to live and be cared for. The more we allow the rights of vulnerable people to be removed from the family and chosen placements without their own rights being taken into account. We are then moving further into a controlled state without knowledge or recognition of this, as we fail to be alert to what is being passed through parliament and thus we unwittingly allow this to affect the rights the vulnerable, of families, children, the elderly and the disabled. How we treat our vulnerable and disabled is a measure of who and what we are as a society. Nobody knows what will happen to any one of us and we must remain vigilant so we too do not lose our rights to chose what happens to us as we grow older. This has to be a worldwide protest for all rights to be recognised, even though it begins in the UK parliment. It begins here and we have to make sure that ending the rights of vulnerable people ends here.

  • Save the Tunstall Green Man from permenant closure
Because there has been a pub in Tunstall Village since 1828 and no body wants to see that disappear, knowing it would never come back. The recent ownerships of the pub have not been suitable to the business, so the pub has struggled. The community wants to have a say in the future of this asset, and how it is run.
