• #SaveBarnetDiving
Barnet Copthalls deep water pool has now closed for demolition. We thank each and every one of you that has supported us for the last three years non stop. We still need petition signatures as the people power behind this great cause stands us in good stead for future funding. Please help us reach 11,000 signatures! The pool is now closed pending demolition despite the public outcry to save it. Barnet has spent 47 million pounds on two new leisure centres but could not find a solution for one diving board. Many promises were made, but we have had to walk through treacle to move forward even slightly. The Mayor of Londons Crowdfundldn team were also told by Barnet that their scheme was unaffordable, they didn't mention ours. The pool as you know is unique in the fact that there is no other like it between East London & Luton. It is large enough for Regional competitions, has a moveable floor and a five diving metre platform . The users of the pool are beyond heartbroken, particularly the children who have been out on the streets gaining signatures, raising funds through triathlons and attending council meetings. The scuba divers, public divers, dive lessons, squad divers, synchro, water polo and deep water fitness and aquatic fitness and therapy users are all also beyond consolable. Personally although the last three years have taken their toll on us all mentally and emotionally it makes us more determined to replace this prized community grass roots facility and protect the Olympic Legacy of London 2012! This is a tragic loss to the Barnet Borough. Decreasing physical activity in 2019 is beyond comprehendible. Barnet are also building 12,000 new homes and reducing water space. We want to build a game changing, fully inclusive, deep water pool for Barnet. We will have 50 aquatic activities every week and aim to have moveable steps into the pool and lifts up to the diving platforms! We ask that you stick with us on this bumpy but worthy journey. Please keep sharing the petition and follow us on all social media channels. Comments are more than welcome. Thanks for reading. #Barnet #BarnetCopthall #Copthall #Crowdfundldn #SaveBarnetDiving #NorthLondon

  • Save Fonseca’s seed fly
Plans for a 236 hectare golf course at Coul Links near Dornoch in the Scottish Highlands could put one of Scotland’s rarest species at threat of global extinction. Fonseca’s seed fly is restricted globally to a short stretch of coast in northern Scotland. Its population is perilously small and is thought to be closely associated with Ragwort, Sow-thistle and the sand dune systems found in this area. The proposed golf course would destroy important habitat for this species and fragment the already fragile population. Stabilisation of the dunes and creation of fairways and greens will destroy the habitat for the species.

  • SAVE SALTASH TRAIN STATION
Saltash Train Station is the gateway station to Cornwall. It is the first station to greet travelers to this beautiful county and right now it is going to rack and ruin. This campaign is to request that Saltash Town Council make an offer on the building and facilitate its restoration to its former glory - a welcoming place to greet travelers, holiday makers, day trippers, commuters and local residents. Saltash is such a vibrant and thriving town with so much to offer and if we had a fully operating and welcoming train station it would encourage even more people to stop off and visit this wonderful and historic town. Many of us have children who use the station daily in order to travel to schools, near and far. It would have such an impact on their daily commute, especially on those dark winter mornings and evenings. We already have the historic Brunel Railway Bridge running into our town so lets maximize on this and create a train station that's fit to accommodate such a feat of engineering. Don't let the building be turned into flats! Please take a moment to sign this petition in order to demonstrate to the Council how much of an impact this would have to the local community, and beyond.

  • daily parking along wilsham and surrounding roads risk to cyclists and pedestrians
Wilsham road is a busy commuter route for pedestrians and cyclists and as a resident of a nearby road I have seen an increase on the amount of parked vehicles. parked cars pose a particular hazard at the junctions of saxton road, preston road and townsend. Its only a matter of time before someone gets seriously injured due to inconsiderately parked vehicles.

  • ACT NOW TO OBJECT TO PLANNING APPLICATION (K/25/16/PL) ON WEST KINGSTON BEACH!
The application goes against numerous policies in the Arun Local Plan. The site is outside the built up area, where the only development that might be approved would be sea defences. A planning application for a shelter for one boat was rejected in 2015 and the refusal was upheld on appeal, because the small shelter, less than one metre high, was considered to harm the open character of the beach and was therefore contrary to policy GEN7 of the Local Plan. An enclosure 2.85 metres high to accommodate 60 boats, which includes a building 13.6 metres long, must also be contrary to planning policy. There are also practical problems about the site: the roads approaching it are private, and the owners have said that they will note provide the Open Dinghy Club with the right to use them. There is a section of car park between the road west of the site, South Strand, which is attached to the house south of it, and its owner, Caroline Bond, has said she will not allow the club to cross her land. So the site can only be reached on foot or from the sea, and construction of the enclosure and building seems impossible. Please let Arun District Council know your thoughts, today.

  • Save Houghton Field of Dreams
The area in question is the land to the North of Blind Lane in Houghton and has been green, open space for over 40 years and is used by the local community for recreational purposes. Due to several new build developments locally, this is now the only area of green , open space in the locality and is vital for the local community. In 2012, Sunderland City Council carried out a Green space Audit in the area and it was found to be the largest and highest quality green space in the area. It was also identified as serving three purposes; an outdoor sports facility, an amenity green space and as forming part of a green corridor in the area.

  • Stop the Destruction Of British Archaeology.
Britain has some of the most amazing and diverse archaeological remains in the world, however the new Neighbourhood Planning and Infrastructure Bill announced in May 2016 puts all of this at risk, leading to the destruction of our past for good. The current Requirements that force developers to carry out archaeological and wildlife surveys before starting housing projects may be abolished in the new Neighbourhood Planning and Infrastructure Bill. This will destroy archaeological sites and risk the industry that conducts surveys, excavation and preservation of our vital past. “pre-commencement planning conditions are only imposed by local planning authorities where they are absolutely necessary”

  • Bradfield wants a Village Hall referendum NOW!
Trustees are required by law to act prudently at all times in the best interests of the charity and its beneficiaries and be personally accountable for the proper management of the charity and its assets. Over 70% of the village have supported the Parish Council objecting to the current plans and we believe that the Trustees should seek a clear mandate before proceeding any further.

  • Amend the Harrison Gibson development proposal in Ilford High Road
The excessive height and bulk of the 30 and 16 storey towers will have a severely detrimental effect on the amenity of the area in terms of overshadowing, lack of privacy, wind tunnelling effects, skyline. Part of the access to the proposed building would be from Havelock Street. The whole of this street and adjacent areas would need significant improvement before people would even consider using this street on a daily basis. A very localized improvement to the street, near the entrance to the building would not nearly be enough. 32 car parking spaces for a development of this size is woefully inadequate. This is not central London and you cannot prevent people from owning cars. If people own cars, they will find somewhere else to park, often leading to conflict with others. There are concerns regarding how much of the housing will be affordable. If there is some affordable housing, the question remains will it be separated from the market-rate housing. There are different open areas proposed in the development, so other questions are: how will these areas be controlled and maintained and will all residents, including those in affordable housing be able to use them?

  • Access for the 88 dwellings not to be through Sandringham Gardens
Will seriously increase the traffic and road use of Sandringham Gardens and I believe this will have huge implications on Health and Safety for the residents of Sandringham Gardens. I believe Pearce Homes have a duty of care to reconsider moving the access from Sandringham Gardens, and moving the access. This is due to the amount of children that use the Park, which is located on the main through road. This will cause massive health and safety issues for any users of the park. The road that would go through from Sandringham Gardens is too narrow to cope with potentially 176+ extra cars that would use this access (considering most households have 2 cars).
