• Make Middlesbrough More Wheelchair Friendly!
There are many in our community who have trouble walking or cannot walk at all and there are many places in Middlesbrough that do not cater enough for a wheelchair users needs. Please make Middlesbrough more wheelchair friendly so that those who are wheelchair bound have more freedom and independence! We need more ramps, lifts and easier access from street to building for these people, so this means in some cases we need bigger doors! Please sign and make this happen!

  • Music on the Piazza Margate
It gives the local businesses a boost, it's important for the economic growth of Margate as it brings in visitors who listen to the music and spend money. Live music in this area does have a positive economic affect to the area. Visitors come back for the music festivals - Soul Weekend, Jazz Weekend, Skagate and the Mods and Rockers weekend. This impacts on local businesses - food, drink, accommodation, retro shops, restaurants, cafes etc who only have a limited time to make the money between Easter and September and it is dependant on the weather.

  • Give Zaina Erhaim her passport back!
Zaina Erhaim, originally from Aleppo, has had her passport confiscated by officials at Heathrow at the request of the Assad government. 'Ms Erhaim has won international awards for courageous and ethical journalism and trained hundreds of citizen reporters, including many women, to report independently and accurately on the horrors of Syria’s six-year-long civil war before finally being forced to flee last year'. (Independent) If, like me, you are ashamed that our government is bending to the will of a brutal dictator, Bashar al-Assad, instead of defending this remarkable woman, then please sign this petition.

  • Stop poisoining our wheat
As wheat starts to turn farmers spray it to kill it off in doing so it takes in large amounts of chemical as a last effort to swell the grain. It seems that very many people are now developing a wheat intolerance and a growing rise in Irritable bowl syndrome and Krohns and stomach complaints. This wheat goes into our bread and is consumed by most of the population on a daily basis. It can not be good under any circumstances. You can't give animals medication just before their meat enters the food chain surely this must be the same.

  • Lewes Town Council do not do business with tax havens
Our coucil should spend tax payers money in the right way and with the right companies. This is only a matter of political will, Barcelona City Council has pioneered with an initiative which makes sure tax payers money is responsably used. http://ajuntament.barcelona.cat/alcaldessa/en/blog/responsible-and-fair-procurement Tax havens breed corruption, terrorism and poverty. We shouldn't allow anonimous companies or money from those sources to be publicaly supported in any way. Let's make it happen, petition to Lewes Town Council to do their bit.

  • Keep the Colwyn Bay Rat-Run CLOSED
The Council are at present improving the promenade between Victoria Pier and The Toad, in Colwyn Bay, Conwy. To carry out this work they have closed the road between those two points. The result is that a fairly large number of vehicles which usually use this road have to choose a different route. After a month of this it is clear that such traffic is readily carried by other roads in the town. Most importantly, the promenade is now vastly safer for pedestrian users and cyclists, who no longer have great difficulty safely crossing the road. Also the beachside atmosphere is far more relaxed. There is no disruption to using your car to drive to the beach from the East or from the West, the only change is that you have to return the way you came. For beach users this is ideal. Nowhere has access been denied and there is one community, who live in the Dingle, who now only have the option to leave their houses and drive East two minutes to access the local expressway (A55). The construction works on the Promenade are due to be completed in May 2017. I am hereby petitioning the Council to KEEP THE PROMENADE ROAD CLOSED

  • Support Luton Town football club relocation plans
A football club is a vital part of any community which draws people together. This was demonstrated in 2009 when 44,000 residents of Luton attended the new Wembley stadium to watch the team win its last major trophy. It was great to see fans from all sections of the community coming together in hope and celebration, and I would like to see more. The game is called 'association football' with good reason! The current stadium at Kenilworth road is located in a very inaccessible part of town which leads to congestion and traffic problems on match days. The limited capacity of the current stadium also restricts the progress of the team going forwards. The consortium behind these plans (2020 developments) are mostly local businessmen and true supporters of the town. Having already saved the club from being disbanded in 2009 they have sustained the club through five long years of non-league football - this is not an exercise in profiteering. This development is not just about football, but the football club can be the centre around which the community can coalesce. Luton has received a bad press over the years. It has suffered a decline in common with many other post industrial towns across the country. This development will regenerate the town center and provide employment for many people locally both during construction and going forward. Also, in contrast to the current trend for taking things 'out of town' this development will revitalise the town centre, providing a venue for concerts and other cultural activities which are currently sorely lacking. Please support this application.

  • MAKE IT ILLEGAL TO PARK ON PAVEMENTS!
Many pavements are now impassable walkers due to the growing number of vehicles parked on pavements. Add to that the wheelie bins that remain on pavements all week long! This is my understanding- Footpaths are for pedestrians. Roads are for vehicles. Wheelie bins can only be put out on the pavement on the day of collection another taken back within the boundary of the property. Ever watched a parent with a pram push their precious child into the road to get past a vehicle? Ever seen school child step into the road to pass a vehicle parked on the pavement? Vehicles are parked without consideration. Vehicles are parked straddling yellow lines. Vehicles are parked ON pavements! Who cares? Who should be stopping it? Who should be enforcing the law? PAVEMENTS ARE FOR PEDESTRIANS!
