• EFDC HIGHWAYS
The presently neglected state of roads and footpaths is a danger to all classes of road users. Pedestrians run the constant risk of tripping on eroded or damaged paths. Holes and other defects in roads are a very serious threat to cyclists and motorcyclists, and motorists are sustaining regular damage to wheels, tyres, and suspension. In the present climate of budget constraints it is right and proper for those responsible for causing damage to pay the costs of repairs, otherwise those costs will be added to the already stretched cost of maintenance.

  • Force Britten-Norman Manufacturing to pay Reparations to Jo Cox's Family
As many of us now know, Britten-Norman flew a self-funded 'Vote Leave' plane over Trafalgar Square at Jo Cox's memorial- silencing her husband temporarily during his tribute to his late wife. This disgraceful act of political points scoring is a prime example of the lack of class and compassion the Brexit campaign holds largely. While the referendum will soon be over with, I believe Britten-Norman should pay reparations to Jo Cox's family due to their gross misconduct. Despite their claims that this was a mistake and the plane was flying several hours later than planned, if it was that much of an error the pilot wouldn't have flown in such proximity to Trafalgar Square, drowning out Jo Cox's husband while he spoke. The aircraft manufacturer should be ashamed of themselves, and should be held accountable for their actions.

  • STOP OUR KIDS SEEING VILE CONTENT IN CO-OP STORES
My 8 year old daughter loves kids magazines and always looks at them in our local CoOp (where they are placed right by the till). She is a prolific reader. I've recently noticed her also looking at the 'women's weekly' magazines. These are placed directly at her eye level and immediately above the kids magazines. This is the case in both our local CoOp store and others I have visited around the country. To my horror, I realised she was reading the headlines... headlines such as "Mum muffled my cries after Dad raped me" and "Sex beasts in my room at bedtime". There have also been images recently of women who have been severely beaten - accompanied by headlines such as "Beaten by thug ex - his poor son saw it all..." As a mother, I do not want my daughter to be bombarded by this sort of content every time I pop for a pint of milk. Displaying this content in such close proximity to children's magazines is, in my view, utterly irresponsible. I asked the manager of my local store to move the magazines to the top shelf out of young children's eyeline. The top shelf currently displays many 'innocuous' titles such as 'Ideal Home' and 'House Beautiful' which could easily be swapped for the 'offending' titles. The manager was sympathetic but advised he could only do this with authority from Head Office. I have tackled the CoOperative Food Head Office about this repeatedly to no avail - in fact, it is a struggle even to get them to reply to my E Mails! Despite their profession to be a 'socially responsible organisation', they have finally indicated that one complaint is not enough for them to act!! With your help, I'd like to show them that more than one of their shoppers/members is unhappy with this stuff being displayed in this way. Please sign up to make the CoOp do the socially responsible thing and protect our young children from this horrible content. Thank you

  • Publish retractions on the same page as misleading articles.
During the current referendum campaign, there has been a serious lack of balance in the popular press. Certain papers, notably the Mail, Express and Sun have deliberately mislead a significant proportion of the voting public by printing articles containing what have been proved to be lies, or at best, misrepresentation of the truth.

  • Sack Dominic Peacock
Dominic Peacock is meant to be representing the public, yet how can the public respect him when he has such blatant disregard for Jo, her grieving family and the hundreds of people who loved and admired her. Jo Cox was what every MP should be: brave, kind, decent and a true humanitarian. Dominic Peacock is the total opposite and really lives up to the latter half of his surname. In one stupid tweet he has demonstrated everything that's wrong with politicians today: there are far too few MPs like Jo Cox and way too many Dominic Peacocks - devoid of compassion and empathy, with massive egos and a total lack of common sense. I for one do not want such a pathetic excuse for a man continuing to serve the public, a role he clearly has no aptitude for and does not deserve.

  • 'Play in Auschwitz'? - No Thanks!
The Second World War is an important event in human history, it's still recent and the implications and suffering from it are still unfolding. It's something we need to teach our children about, helping them to understand the consequences of hatred and giving power to groups motivated by racism. This 'game' was not designed for educational purposes but is a shameful exploitation of the suffering of millions. It should be shut down immediately, and Google should have an open policy on the development and sale of such 'games'. Genocide is not a game.

  • Postpone the EU Referendum: Voters need neutral information
It is not true that there is no objective information about the EU referendum. There are many objective and neutral studies which show the real complexity of the issue. Even now, when both sides of the referendum are apparently trying to have a sensible debate in the wake of the killing of Jo Cox MP, the important details are not being explained to the electorate. Please watch this video for an example of the complexity that has been lost in this debate. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=USTypBKEd8Y&feature=share

  • Ban Dangerous Pesticides in London
The use of glyphosates has already been banned or restricted in 8 countries. It is not acceptable that ourselves, our children and the animals we share our community with are being routinely exposed to these chemicals whether we like it or not. This is a matter of great importance for those of us who care about each other's health and the health of our children, our cats, our dogs and all the flora and fauna of this city, of course including our beloved bees. Lot's of people of a certain age still use email to communicate to the wider world. • Improving provision for Autistic individuals in Derbyshire
My name is Jenn Layton. I had an autistic meltdown on the 11th June and ended up in A&E twice in 24 hours with overdoses. I had been referred to the Home Treatment and Crisis Team the day before. When I called them before I took my first overdose to tell them I was on my own and felt risky I was told to go for a walk. I assaulted a member of the hospital staff trying to help on my first admission because I could not cope with the sensory input and left the house in handcuffs when I refused to cooperate with paramedics. I self discharged and went home and overdosed again on alcohol and drugs because I was in a state of physiological shock and unable to behave rationally. I really wanted to die and stop feeling the pain I was in. I am feeling better now but am terrified if this happens again at a weekend and I am still not understood the same thing will happen again, or worse. NHS Derby City and Derbyshire estimate there are approximately 11,000 people in the County somewhere on the Autistic Spectrum. Lack of provision mean we are often unable to achieve anywhere near or full potential. We are stuck between NHS teams, with no dedicated pathway, and often encounter poorly prepared and dangerous situations that can worsen already difficult circumstances. Mental health staff, hospital staff, police and social care are working with no dedicated training or joining up of services. Families, parents and partners are being left alone to pick up the pieces because of the lack of provision, making life miserable and harder for everyone. The number of people on the spectrum is increasing all the time as diagnosis improves. Please add your name and story and make life easier for everyone, Aspies, Autists, their families and the services and save some money for the county in the long term by avoiding countless crisis situations that are occurring every day, in homes and public places in Derbyshire.

  • Put up a CYCLISTS DISMOUNT sign on the alley between Windsor Rd and Warwick Rd in Cambridge.
This morning when I was taking my son to school a lady knocked him with her bike seat and made him cry. When I pointed the fact out to her she refused my request to apologise to him and rode off. Having seen this another lady asked me if I was going to report her to which I replied that I probably wouldn't and she said that the same had happened to her child recently. After talking to a few people I now realise how dangerous this alleyway is. Cyclists use it a a short cut and ride at a speed that would make it very hard to prevent a collision which could potentially have serious consequences.. At school times the alley is used by a number of parents and children who constantly try to avoid the dangers but in reality children do not understand and are unpredictable. I feel that it is only a matter of time until an injury occurs and by cyclists dismounting and adding maybe one minute maximum to their journey to work this risk could be eliminated. If they had children themselves surely they would understand this?
