Bantham 2017: stop the proposed development of Bantham village and beach. When Nicholas Johnston bought the Bantham estate, much against the wishes of most locals, he promised that he would leave it untouched. Now he is proposing to develop both the village and the beach, even going so far as to say that he will not be making the new housing affordable for local people (which, in a part of the country that has some of the most unaffordable housing available, should be a priority for any development, rather than lining the pockets of a man who has already proven he has no love for the people born and bred here). This is completely unacceptable to those of us who have enjoyed Bantham in its current form for so many decades, but more importantly to the people who live in the village. The infrastructure around Bantham village struggles as it is, this development would make a bad situation worse, in particular for the existing village residents, especially during the summer months. This Old Etonian, multi-millionaire friend of David Cameron, who has more than enough to survive on already, should not be allowed to profit from developing an unspoilt gem in our coastal countryside, especially when his proposals offer absolutely nothing for local people. You can read about his plans here... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4216762/Millionaire-bought-village-plans-transform-it.html Please note that I have no legal training, I have started this petition in the hope of showing the authorities that there is a depth of feeling against such inappropriate plans for a much loved local beauty spot. Please share this petition with as many people as possible, especially with people from the Bantham area and wider South Hams. Thank you for your support.12,389 of 15,000 SignaturesCreated by Chris Jones

Stop Councils from taking people's disability benefits to pay for their careSince the introduction of the Care Act, many local authorities are reassessing people's ability to pay for their own care and/or support. My daughter relies on her support worker to help her to live independently. For the last 6 years she has received funding from the Local Authority to pay a support worker to help her cook meals, shop, keep her flat clean, deal with correspondence, go to medical appointments and get out and about. Without any warning or discussion, it stopped on the same day she was visited to 'check' she was receiving the right amount of benefits. A subsequent letter informed her that after the general living allowance was deducted from her benefits, there was enough income left to pay for her own care. The Government 'say' that she needs £x amount to live on then our Local Authority say she can live on less than half the benefit amount. It is very wrong and very soon you will be talking to someone who is affected by these assessments (parents of disabled adults, people with aging parents and/or people who need care). Please support this campaign to force Local Authorities to ignore disability benefits when assessing people's ability to pay for their own care so they can exercise choice and control over their lives.26 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Denise Cooper

Dorset #NoVoiceThe forums are made up from elected representatives from the 9 regions in England. These representatives talk to government and other Organisations such as the NHS & CQC to give the opinions and voice of people with a learning disability. Without the forums, the voice of people with a learning disability will be lost. We are worried that when the government stop supporting and listening to people with learning disabilities others may stop too. More people with a learning disability could end up isolated and alone with nowhere to turn. Please sign this petition and show our local MPs how important the voice of people with a learning disability is. We would really like them to speak up for the people in their communities that have #NoVoice. We want MPs to tell government that their local community think people with a learning disability should be included at a local, regional and national level. We think the Department of Health should reconsider funding the vital work of the forums. http://nationalforums.co.uk/71 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Kerry Martin

Save Shipley JobcentreClosing Shipley Jobcentre will impact on vulnerable local people and the local economy. Customers will be burdened with additional transport costs to access vital services, increasing poverty within the town. Closing the office will impact on the local economy as customers will be less likely to visit the town centre and spend money in local businesses. Supporters are also being asked to send in comments in response to the DWP consultation - which can be accessed here: https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/proposal-for-the-future-of-shipley-jobcentre593 of 600 SignaturesCreated by Laura Jowett

Vote of no confidence in Hyndburn Borough CouncilNot unlike other areas of government, democracy has not been aparant in Hyndburn for some time, however, the recent act of felling the town's two horse chestnut trees in front of the markt hall that were heading for 80 years old was nothing less than an act of criminal damage. In the past the council have blocked access to motor vehicles and filtered them towards 2 large superstores; starving the town centre of custom. They have built an unwanted bus station and even named it after the man that presided over the commencement of the demise of the town. They keep the town in a poorly maintained dirty condition and everything that they do is with the minimum of effort, but felling these 2 beautiful trees is the final straw. This petition is here to demonstrate to the council how we feel about them and their actions. It is not political but we do desire the current councillors to stand down and allow us to elect people that will democratically represent us.816 of 1,000 SignaturesCreated by James Hothersall

Stop the Route Changes for the 56 BusThis service is an essential link for the elderly who use it to access the shops in Broadstairs and St. Peter's and Margate, to attend the GP's surgery, to go to friends and generally to lead an independent life. Cutting out the lower part of Broadstairs High Street and taking away the stop in Hopeville Avenue will seriously affect many. Re-routing via Carlton Avenue and Green Lane makes the service much less user-friendly.473 of 500 SignaturesCreated by Jenny Matterface

Stop freemasons from being public servantsThe Freemasons is a semi-secret organisation and its objectives are anti-democratic. Its existence seems to be one reason why so many political decisions prioritise business interests (i.e: privatisations etc). Also, local councillors and planners enable developments to be built that are against the public interest. Since any public servant's job is to serve the people, such a membership is a direct threat to democracy. Please share this campaign with like-minded friends and family - Many thanks.116 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Michael M
