  • #keepBBCIndependent Public Service Broadcasting is vital to our democracy
The licence fee is and always has been the source of BBC independence from government interference. If our public service broadcaster has to cow tow to government for its survival, news broadcasts may become biased towards government policy instead of critical.

  • Volkswagen Group emissions scandal
All corporations say they are fair and ethical but with the emissions problem that arose from the VAG scandal people within the UK and Europe have purchased cars based on their so called statistics. These customers have been duped and lied to and as a result have been wronged by VAG. As well as fixing the problem with the cars that their customers have been lied to about VAG should also offer compensation much like they are doing in the US and Canada otherwise they believe their customers of Audi, Volkswagen, Skoda, Seat are all second class to their US counterparts. If VAG want's to treat it's customers like this then people should firstly campaign and when they refuse to listen to their customers then people should ensure they do not purchase from this group again.

  • No parking charges for visiting hospitals
I find this very important due to the fact I am now in a position of paying £276. every month to a private company to see my wife who is in critical care and may not survive . there are no concession rate for long term parking on a daily basis and the parking company keep all proceeds and the hospital get none. even the nurses doctors and everyone working at the hospital have to pay many the same rate has me and thousands of other patients and visitors. the Hospital in question is the Coventry and warwickshire University Hospital. I believe the Government must act now to stop these companies taking advantage of the sick and vulnerable. it is not possible to park close to the hospital due to parking permits needed and only issues to local residents making the hospital carparks the only place to park . I know not all charge the same rate has my local Hospital parking charges are £7 a week when paid in advance but again this option is not available at Coventry University Hospital and the hospital has no input and the charges made due to the parking being provided by private greedy owners. I can not afford to visit my wife I have reduced all payments to everything I need at home to very basic supplies and still can not afford the £276 per month parking charge charged at a daily rate of £9.20 a day. that is not including travelling costs to and from the hospital. I am registered disabled and using public transport like buses is not an option for me and taxis are way to expensive. please this is not a complaint from me this is me being concerned for all people having to visit hospitals all over the country that could be charging extortionate prices for some private company to get rich quick . end all Hospital charges or make all parking charges fair and affordable and owned by the hospitals to get extra funds.

  • OUTRAGEOUS RENT RISE FOR WORKSHOPS IN LONDON
Small, independent businesses will drop. They give London a character. This is imprudent and obstructing business growth.

  • Ethical Business Standards Scale - Campaign for Legislation
This EBSS will illustrate in coloured graphic form how 'ethical' the business is (similar to colour-coded nutrition labels on the front of food packaging*). The 'ethical' rating will be determined by a set of standards (similar to Shelter's 'Living Home Standard') designed to give workers fair rights: * Minimum term/secure contracts for workers * Sick pay for workers * 28 days paid holiday for workers * Minimum/living wage adherence etc. (precise standards can be agreed upon) * Health & Safety certificates * Diverse workforce Furthermore, the business will receive minus points for: * Employees hired via agencies long term * Zero hours contracts * No holiday or sick pay * Short term contracts * High-profit margins * Tax evasion * High turnover of shareholders * Off-shore headquarters * Minimal tax payments to countries which products are sold in The tally of these points will form their 'Ethical Business Rating', along with other considerations whcih can be drafted as this idea gets implemented (such as charity, profit-sharing, continued professional development, etc.). Of course there will be cases where businesses will inherently have a low 'ethical' rating, because of the short term nature of that particular business. This is an acceptable stigmatisation, and consumers will understand in these cases (just as they understand but still occasionally opt for unhealthy foods with high red nutrition warnings as a treat). The EBSS will encourage ethical business which, in turn, will be more beneficial to UK citizens as it will improve their employment standards and such their standard of living. Businessess will be stigmatised (by a hopefully discerning public) for rating low on the EBSS chart, and therefore will be encouraged to run their businesses more ethically. The desired outcome is to get Secretary of State for Business to discuss it in parliament, and perhaps even bring about the creation of legislation to make EBSS mandatory by UK law, so that UK businesses have to use the scale to apply and publish their ethical rating (according to the standards stipulated). (*as per the The Food Information Regulations 2014 & European Food Information to Consumers Regulation No 1169/2011).

  • Strip Phillip Green of his Knighthood and Assets
To allow anyone or any corporation to have the power to steal and make its own governance shows weakness and untrustworthiness in the powers that are meant to uphold the moral and financial status of our democracy. Restore some faith and decency in our society by taking a stand against bullying tactics and tax dodging corporations. If a man or woman in the street committed these atrocities, they would be arrested, investigated, stripped of all their worth and jailed. The duality of responsibility is reprehensible and must be addressed! The public must make a stand or we are accepting oppression!

  • Ban cash machines that charge a fee for withdrawing money
Many of these cash machines that charge a fee for withdrawing money are in deprived neighbourhoods where they may not have much money available and this is compounded by being charged a payment for the simple act of accessing their money in physical form. Banning these types of cash machine will improve the local and wider economies for providing a little more money for individuals that they are currently being charged. The charge fees are immoral and are detrimental for individuals and businesses. Charging a fee for withdrawing money from a cash machine should be made illegal.

  • Please stop gumtree selling live animals
Many, if not most, of the animals sold on Gumtree are from unscrupulous pet farms. Many of the animals are inter breed, which leads to whole host of health problems. Also , these pets are often kept in isolation, being fed by suppling food from a series of drain pipes. The only motive for these sellers is money. If we can't legislate against this, then please a least share so that NOBODY buys their pet from Gumtree

  • The Perfect Crime - Gift Voucher Robbery
Businesses are using expired Vouchers and Cards as a licence to help themselves to £250 million of our money a year. Make them take the expiry date off cash Gift Cards and Vouchers, or make them donate any 'expired' money to charity! Imagine this Christmas you give a £50 Gift Card as a present. The recipient is too embarrassed to tell you that it expired before they got around to using it. Guess what happens to your money, Businesses keep it all for themselves, knowing full well that you will never find out. It's a perfect and unnoticed theft. Is this fair and honest behaviour? Is theft OK if you don't know about it? Money given to people as vouchers or gift cards need to be honoured no matter how long the person keeps them in their wallet. Your money has been spent in the stores in good faith, in the full expectation that retailers will honour the voucher or gift card and supply goods and services to the full value of the card. Taking someone's money and not giving anything in return is theft even if they never find out.. Sign the petition if you are fed up of this underhand practice and want it changed.

  • Refundable Glass Bottles
This will benefit the environment by reducing the energy requirements of recycling. Reduce the burden on local authorities to collect and sort this type of recycling. Donation and collection of bottles could help local fund raising activities. Other Countries including the USA have such a system, in fact it was common in the UK up the end of the 1960's.
