• Please invoke International Law on Ryanair or amend British Law
Ryanair threatened to leave two disabled octogenarians and myself aged 76 at Malaga airport because we were unable to download inbound boarding cards, which they do not allow to be downloaded before the outbound flight. We could not download them in Spain because we do not own smartphones. We were humiliated at the airport and forced to scrabble around for the cash. The stress has had an effect on all three of us and spoiled what had been a recuperative holiday. Michael O'Leary, the Chief Exec. of Ryanair told me personally that I should have bought on at an internet café or an hotel." Why not just allow them to be downloaded before flying?" I asked him. I have not yet had a reply to this simple question. Many people have been fined in this way and I would like them to sign this petition. I have two letters from O'Leary refusing to return our money.

  • Save our local Coop!
We have had a coop store in Over Hulton since the turn of the last century. The store is the hub of the community, also housing the local post office. Other stores in the near locality have also been selected for takeover by McColl's, leaving residents without local access to a coop store. Residents do not want R.S. McColls, they do not provide the same range or ethical quality of goods that that Coop sells and do not provide the member services offered by the Cooperative organisation. A petition has been instigated by myself and Denise Sullivan another resident and over the course of just one week we have collected 15000 signatures in support of our cause, including our local MP who lives in the vicinity.

  • Restrict commercial use of Drones
A very small but vocal lobby is pushing another 'innovation' of questionable value through the legislative system. Citizens must be allowed to have the final say on drone use as the air above our heads should not become a playground for the few and be a threat to our health and safety.

  • BHS: change the rules governing extraction of wealth from businesses
Philip Green's behaviour in relation to BHS has yet again highlighted the loopholes and weaknesses in UK law governing the handling of money and finance. Green's behaviour is not untypical and it is clear that there are people who will always seize opportunities to make themselves wealthy with no heed for the consequences to other people and to society at large. The law needs to be changed to take account of this inevitable human behaviour so as to prevent the damage that arises from it. Removing Green's knighthood may satisfy a need for revenge but it does not even approach solving the problem.

  • Sir Phillip Green: give the money back
This matters to the people you have impoverished. It matters to the whole of the business community that you have disgraced. It matters to the nation which cares for its reputation as a global leader in corporate governance. It ought to matter to you that your name is vilified and is become a byword for amoral greed. It matters to me because it matters.

  • Save "Professor Burp's Bubbleworks" ride
I, like many others, have been going to Chessington World of Adventures for many years and my children have enjoyed all the activities tremendously. Imagine my horror then when I saw that the "Professor Burp's Bubbleworks" ride is to be closed after the summer holidays. Typical! Even though it's a magical ride for all ages, it's a godsend on a hot day when you need to escape from the sun for a while, it's a restful ride for exhausted parents and grandparents and a calming ride for over-excited little ones, no doubt it's got to go because it doesn't make enough money. Why can't they just spruce it up with a lick of paint and just re-vamp it a bit? Chessington is a more suitable park for babies and toddlers because of the zoo, so it's madness to take away one of the rides aimed at this age group, surely? Have they conducted any surveys or handed out any questionnaires before taking this insane decision, I wonder? It would appear not, from the huge number of incensed comments I have already seen plastered all over facebook, all saying how much this particular ride means to them. Please take a moment to sign this petition and add your name to the chorus of disapproval before it's too late and Professor Burp is no more. Even if we cannot save the Professor from certain death, perhaps we can ensure that his replacement ride will at least be specifically for the littl'uns (and preferably another cool, indoor ride) and not another stomach-churning ride aimed at teenagers, who are already well catered for.

  • VW compensation refusal
We need to get the Ministry Of Transport to pursue VW (in the courts if necessary) and get them to give the UK Owners the same priority and compensation as they have given to the American owners (obviously they were frightened of the American legal system ). We appear to have been sidelined as not important and the UK Government has not promoted our case at all. I drive a VW van and have had only a single letter to tell me my vehicle would have to be re worked to bring it into line , but since that letter a few years ago I have not heard a word. About time some butt kicking was done in high places .

  • Help stop the press lying to us
Keeping our society fair means that people need accurate information on which to make an informed decision about the issues they care about. In the recent referendum on the EU both Leave and Remain campaigns were supported by the press in spreading disingenuous information to suit an agenda. The news media spread misinformation and outright lies instead of reporting facts. Several retractions have since been made in tiny panels tucked away where they cannot be seen without a headline. To help the news media uphold the high editorial standards which they aim to meet I think it is important that there is a cost to them for lying to the public and that retractions, apologies and correction are clear and visible. The Editors' Code of Practice can be found here: https://www.ipso.co.uk/editors-code-of-practice/ It states that "A significant inaccuracy, misleading statement or distortion must be corrected, promptly and with due prominence, and — where appropriate — an apology published. In cases involving IPSO, due prominence should be as required by the regulator." We believe that 'due prominence' should impact upon the publication to a degree that encourages due diligence. Please sign the petition if you agree.

  • Natural State Food Labelling - You are what you eat.
The health state of the food we eat directly influences the health state of the consumer. We have the right to the meat equivalent of ingredients labelling on meat products. The quality of life of the meat animals is also of concern to many consumers and we have the right of choice as to which animals' meat we consume.

  • Stop the TPP and TISA entering the UK by the back door
The TPP and TISA will give multinational companies powers which are above the Law. Many people voted to get out of Europe because they agreed with Labour veteran Tony Benn and wanted to stop this agreement in its tracks. There has been very little media coverage of agreements like this which gives corporate entities huge legal powers. Open and honest discussion is essential and long overdue.
