Make some noise. Save Be Free Young CarersBe Free Young Carers has for many years offered a desperately needed service for the hundreds of Young Carers in our community. A study in 2017 estimated there were over 700,000 young carers across the UK, providing 1 to 1 care for sick family members, mostly unpaid and unsupported. Be Free Young Carers has offered a support and guidance service for the hundreds of carers in Didcot and South Oxfordshire for many years, offering mentoring, much needed respite, learning support and guidance. There are currently over 500 young carers this charity supports in our county alone ! My own daughter Courtney Hughes BCAv was a registered young carer for me after I had a stroke. Be Free Young Carers offered her a shoulder to cry on, guidance and support whilst undertaking her exams and many day trips out, to allow her to have some time for her. Sadly due to the increase in young carers and a decline in funding with great sadness they have announced they simply cannot continue to run, due to huge drop in donations. The charity relies on donations alone and is not funded by the Government or local authorities. PLEASE SIGN AND MAKE SOME NOISE TO KEEP THIS VITAL CHARITY GOING.... Please write to your MP, Councillors, local parties anyone with any stature to keep the charity going... Thank you415 of 500 SignaturesCreated by Claire Hughes

SAVE EAGLESTONE PRESCHOOLIt is important to keep this preschool open for the children, lots of children have been to this preschool and lots more are wanting to come. I myself have had 2 children go to the preschool and one currently in there now, I have a baby who I will be sending to this setting as well when he is old enough. My children that have been to the setting have had amazing experiences and absolutely loved being there with the staff and the other children. I have spoken to other parents of past and present children that have attended or do attend the setting and have heard all good things about it, the children love being there, enjoy their learning and have great relationships with the staff. I feel if this setting is closed there will be lots of people that are going to be affected. Children not old enough to attend a school based nursery can attend the preschool setting from the age of 2 and stay with the setting until they are old enough to attend reception year at school, I found with my children having that time at preschool helped them get ready and prepare for school life and they have excelled because of this, my daughter had speech issues but due to attending Eaglestone preschool started talking better and better, her amazing keyworker did a huge amount of work with her to get her where she needed to be ready for reception year at school. Reinstate Our Lifeline Weekend Ferry ServiceReducing this service has changed our way of life due to only one ferry running and limited spaces, leaving residents left feeling trapped and isolated at the weekend. The only time most people can get off the island is at the weekend due to working, bairns at school, etc so it’s the busiest time of the week, yet this is when ferries are reduced. It’s taken away the freedom to take family to events out of the isle with so many residents involved in sports, music, etc, going shopping and visiting friends and family.521 of 600 SignaturesCreated by Caroline Watt

End Period Poverty in Blackburn and DarwenMore families in the UK have been reaching out to food banks for sanitary products, as they just can’t afford the ‘luxury’ of buying them. Sanitary towels and tampons aren’t cheap, but they are an essential part of a women’s life. This has resulted in women and girls using toilet paper, old socks, pieces of cloth, newspaper, and other unhygienic items and this could cause serious threats to their health. Without the sufficient and proper protection, which every girl and women deserves, girls have been routinely missing school. Shocking statistics from planUK.org said ‘49 per cent of girls have missed an entire day of school because of their period, of which 59 per cent have made up a lie or an alternate excuse’. A girl’s, and every young persons, education is such a vital and important part of their lives, they should not have to compromise this because of their periods. Blackburn is a deprived area, and looking at the demographics, and the statistics from plan UK, Blackburn could be at a higher risk than the statistic already shown.221 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Rianna Rumball

Save Brookside Miniature RailwayIt is a major draw to the Garden Centre and Model shop and it would be a great shame to loose it. I used to ride on the railway freequently as a child and we used to have a look at the garden centre whilst there. If the railway was closed down it would never be the same ever again. I have spent many a happy hour there as a child and im sure that there are many people that will agree. The collection or railway interest is massive and is worth going to see alone. This would be lost if Strikes continue to go ahead.135 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Tim Hines

Safe pedestrian crossing needed at Granville Road and Summer's Lane junctionCurrently there is no pedestrian crossing at this fast and busy junction and people are putting themselves in danger by dashing across the road. Many of these pedestrians are school pupils of The Compton School and Wren Academy and users of Finchley Memorial Hospital as well as many mothers with young children. The lack of crossing also means people are standing in a highly polluted area for long periods of time. Barnet Council and TFL are prioritising 'traffic flow' over the safety of people.344 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Lis Maimaris

Make our Castle Vale Community SafeAfter a recent spate of crimes on Castle Vale it is clear that the loss of a viable police presence due to national funding cuts is making our community an unsafe place to live.537 of 600 SignaturesCreated by Amanda Cutler

Children’s playhouseWe received a gift of a play house for our garden for our children to play with. We have been notified from North Lanarkshire Council that we have a period of 28 days to remove it from our garden. We have a few points we would like to mention regarding the safety and wellbeing of our kids. Don't you think..... * It is safer for our children to play in their own garden than in a park which is full of broken glass and dogs dirt. * As parents it puts our minds at rest knowing we can watch our children from the comfort of our own home and know they are safe. * If children are out of sight you dont know who could be lurking about. You hear of kids being abducted and also the fear of paedophiles in the vicinity. All we are asking is to have the right to keep our kids safe in their own garden enjoying the equipment that was gifted to them. PLEASE SIGN THIS PETITION FOR US TO OVERTURN THE COUNCIL'S DECISION IN REMOVING THE EQUIPMENT IN 28 DAYS. Take into consideration the safety of our children.845 of 1,000 SignaturesCreated by Linzi Marie

Save after school clubs for children with disabilities in East SussexEast Sussex County Council currently runs some high quality after school and holiday play schemes for 5-19 year old children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND). The clubs are due to have their funding reduced and then completely removed over the next 2 years, leaving these children without the support they need. I am working with Jane, a mum of three autistic children, that has Cancer. She has had a breakdown and also lost the use of her left arm. She needs this support to continue caring for her children. She has tried to request foster care for her children out of desperation, but there are no foster carers available. Like many of the children who use the after school clubs service, her children have been refused a social care assessment by the Local Authority - and have been offered these clubs as an alternative. If Jane loses this respite she does not know how she will cope. These cuts will put these families in crisis. The schools are unable to finance these clubs, so it is likely the services will be restricted and many will be closed. There is no "wider market to be explored", there is no other place these children will be safe, or that has space to take them. We believe that in making this cut the Local Authority is breaching its duty of care to vulnerable families. We want to ensure these clubs continue to support these vulnerable families and the local authority upholds its duty of care to disabled children under The Children’s Act 1989 and S2 of the Chronically Sick and Disabled Persons Act 1970.4,018 of 5,000 SignaturesCreated by Rebecca Whippy

Don't deport 10 year old orphan Giorgi to a country he doesn't know.Giorgi is now 13 years old and was given 30 months leave to remain in the UK in July 2018. He is an orphan and his residence permit, and that of his grandmother (his legal guardian), expired on December 28, 2020. He once again faces an uncertain future and is effectively living on borrowed time. Giorgi and his late mother, Sophie, fled Georgia, a former Soviet republic, and came to Glasgow when he was three years old. She feared his life was in mortal danger because his father owed money to gangsters who threatened to take him and sell him to pay the debt. I have known Giorgi since he was at the primary school where I am chaplain and he is a gentle, thoughtful, intelligent and funny boy. He is now in high school and thriving, socially and academically. Giorgi's mother died after a long and painful illness and I, a Church of Scotland minister, conducted her funeral and have been supporting him ever since. Sophie was in the middle of an asylum application when she died and her dying wish was that he grew up a Scottish boy in a safe and secure environment. However, he is still at risk of being sent back to a country he does not remember. The Home Office must show moral courage and do the right thing to ensure that he remains in Glasgow where he belongs. I have watched this young man grow and I have been so inspired by his progress. He is a delight to be around and I fully believe that if we support him now, he will become an asset to our country in the future. Giorgi is, to all intents and purposes, a Scottish teenager and his life is in this country. If he was returned to Georgia against his will, he would be under threat and his future would be very bleak. Please help us to keep Giorgi in Glasgow. This is the only home he has ever known and he is proud to be from Springburn. His schooling would be disrupted and his life would be at risk in Georgia. Or worse!93,572 of 100,000 SignaturesCreated by Brian Casey

Save Seven Hills swimming poolSeven Hills pool has only been open for 5 years & is unique in its offering, catering for the children of Sheffield & surrounding areas who have SEN needs. Their hydropool is one of few in the area & very important to the children that use it, helping with movement & pain relief. The pool also offers swimming lessons to children locally & is well used. Following talks with the local council, Seven Hills school propose to close this important facility to replace it with a gym which would be of very little use to the children. They state they cannot afford to keep the pool even though the swim school have offered to contribute financially & make up any difference. Please help us save our swimming pool.1,747 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Lisa Siddall
